Brobee
My daughter is obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba. We don't have cable TV but she loves to watch Brobee dance on YouTube.

Rather than spend ridiculous amounts of money on a toy, I decided to make Brobee for her.

I freeformed this from two colors of acrylic yarn, felt scraps and a few yards of crochet thread. I didn't write a pattern but it's done in a simple amigurumi style. Hooray for homemade toys!

That's adorable! If you make another, or another from the show, please write down the pattern. I've never made amigurumi, so a pattern would be useful.

Thanks! I will write it down if I make another one. I need some time to let my fingers recover. Working with Red Heart Super Saver is like crocheting sandpaper! :)

Thanks! I spent a long time looking at photos and cutting out felt pieces to make the face 'right'. He's frowning in a lot of pictures but I like him better smiling.

I hate the show with a passion, but wow, that's really, really well done!

The songs are totally obnoxious and I think it moves too fast. But I tolerate it in limited doses for my kiddo. I can't blame her for loving bright candy-colored monsters. :D

I second this. I didn't allow my kids to even start with it. We stick to other shows that mom and big sister can tolerate. lol

But this crochet guy is amazing! Very nice work!

My four year old - who constantly rolls his eyes at me whenever I call it "Go Yabba Yabba" would love this.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Red Heart is super cheap (and super hard on your hands) but it lasts forever. The 'real' toys are so expensive online, I decided homemade was the way to go. If you make one, I'd love to see pictures!

My son LOVES yo gabba gabba too! That is the best Brobee I've ever seen! The actual Brobee and Yo Gabba toys run for $100.00 and up! We bought a Plex for my son at xmas time and it fell apart that day. Yours looks soft and cuddly and much nicer. Great job!

That's exactly why I decided to crochet one. I was very offended by the price for a Brobee toy (I mean, c'mon! $100 for a toddler toy?). Mine doesn't dance or sing but we can play a song clip on YouTube and my daughter can dance with him. Imagination is better than electronics, I think. :)

Now that I think of it there is a Muno knit pattern up somewhere that could be easily crocheted! Maybe the whole gang could be done!

You did an absolutely fabulous job! You got him down perfectly!

Personally, I think the show is kind of creepy, but if my son was into it instead of Blue's Clues and Dora I'd let him. I think your doll is better then the ones people buy for the huggability and imagination aspect too.
