Hi all. My name's Mary, and I've been crocheting on and off since I was 10. It's been mostly 'on' for the past three years, though. I haven't contributed any FOs yet, but I got a bug to work on my Ravelry page today so I figured I may as well post some of my more recent projects here too.
A Christmas present. I bought this pattern on Etsy. The face didn't come out quite as well as I would've liked, but the recipient seemed to be quite happy with it.
Another Christmas present. This is from a Japanese amigurumi pattern book I bought at Kinokuniya bookstore in Manhattan. Fortunately they use charts! International crochet language, gotta love it.
Yet another Christmas present. From a different Japanese pattern book. I *love* the buttons I used for this guy's eyes. Bought at Joann's, they really look like eyes! I'm going to have to make another for my cousin's wedding - she loves koalas.
I crocheted a lot for Christmas this past year. Got the pattern for this guy off of Etsy, CrochetRoo's budgerigar pattern. Diana took these pictures with her superawesome camera. She's got him perched in her bonsai tree.
Googly-eyed dudes. Not much of a pattern here. This was a throw-in for a package for
marvelous_mail.
Red teddy bear, for a color themed Marvelous Mail. Another Japanese pattern.
Marvelous Mail with the theme of "Your Town." I'm a New Yorker. I freehanded this guy's body and tail, and used the pattens from the budgie for the beak, wings, and feet.
I just finished this one up a week or so ago, for a '50s themed Marvelous Mail package. Pattern from here. I used two strands of Patons Brilliant instead of the rug yarn that was called for.
Incidentally, crocheting with two strands really irritates me, because I hate how the strands get all twisted up. The way I hold my yarn, the strands are straight going through my fingers but get turned by the hook. So the slack between my hand and the skein gets all twisted. Annoying.
