Brobee

My daughter is obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba. We don't have cable TV but she loves to watch Brobee dance on YouTube.

Rather than spend ridiculous amounts of money on a toy, I decided to make Brobee for her.
Behold! The Brobee )

I freeformed this from two colors of acrylic yarn, felt scraps and a few yards of crochet thread. I didn't write a pattern but it's done in a simple amigurumi style. Hooray for homemade toys!

Nice Crochet gift for Grandma...

Ok, Anyone have any suggestions? My grandma was the one who taught me to crochet when I was a kid, and I really want to make her something nice for xmas ( I am starting now since I am due in august with our second kiddo) but nothing too cheesy.

Anyone have any good suggestions? I have been searching crochet pattern central for awhile... Maybe a Moebius scarf.. I dunnno....
Maybe even Knit- she did teach me that too.

Has anyone had the pleasure of working on the Sweet Pea Shawl from the happy hooker books?

I've finished the first row...I'm sure I already messed that up a bit (my shells lean/pull to the left) and I'm not quite sure what the second row is asking for....

Any help?

Stuck. D:

I'm relatively new to crochet; I started out as a knitter but I've recently become obsessed with amigurumi, and am currently attempting this pattern. I was getting on fine with it until I got to the main dress piece, and I've ended up having to rip it out and start again a ridiculous number of times so I think possibly I'm in need of some help. I've searched, and can't find anything to clarify the step I'm stuck on at all.

The particular thing I'm having trouble with is this (it's a sort of 'point' off a chain made up of 16 stitches), specifically the bit in bold:

[sc 1, dc 1, tr 1, ch 1, sl st in front 2 loops of prev. tr, ch 2, sl st in next ch] 4 times

I don't understand where/what these 'front 2 loops of prev. tr' are. I've experimented with just slip stitching *around* the bar that the treble stitch makes, but that doesn't look right. I can't see any noticeable 'loops' to stitch through; obviously the treble stitch itself is made up of a series of loops/stitches, but none of them are more prominent than the others so I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for. If I could find a diagram of how to execute this I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, but this is the only pattern I can find that uses this technique.

I'm left-handed, and I suspect that my technique is not quite standard since all the amigurumi I've completed so far have had to be turned inside out before stuffing (I'm working from left to right, and the side facing outwards while I'm working is the 'wrong side'). By that reasoning the 'front 2 loops' should be at the *back* of the work to me, but I can't find any obvious loops to stitch through there either.

I feel like there must be a ridiculously obvious solution to this but I can't figure out what it is. If anyone could pleeeease help me out I will be very very grateful indeed. :)

Thanks!

Lucia.

I finished this doily last night. I call it Lucia because I started it on July 4, 2008, while listening to Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. The doily is approximately 37 cm in diameter. I used 1.50 mm hook for this project.

whoops! please help!

We're celebrating my nephew's birthday a week from Sunday (also, my neice and BIL's b-days, and their new home!!!).  I've been working on presents since April.  (check me out on ravelry: danniaksevila.  i don't have a lot of pics of this project yet.)  I made Punk a checker/tic-tac-toe board, checkers, Xs, Os, little bags for the pieces, and a larger monogrammed bag for the  whole shebang.  All of it is Lion Brand Wool and felted.  Since I was inventing the monogrammed bag, I ran out of black (background) yarn.  I bought a skein and finished.  I threw everything in wash and went upstairs to clean up the project.  I threw the left over yarn in a bag and gathered up the labels so that I would remember what it is in 10 years.  Red, yellow, and blue were Lion Brand Wool.

Black was Lion Brand Wool Ease.  Whoops!  Damn.  Then I remembered thinking the texture was a little different when I was working it.  Such a moron in a rush!  So I ran to the washer and discovered it was MUCH to late to frog; the border, etc. had felted and the last 1/3 of the black had not.  It's all sc, so it's not superbad, but it is noticeable.

Any suggestions?

x-p to mine

Selling

I recently purchased the Stitch 'N' Bitch book for crocheters.  When you purchase a book of patterns - are you typically allowed to sell the items?  Or do you just sell them with a link to the book saying the pattern is in there?  I'd like to sell a few items I've made so far from that book, but I don't want any legal issues!  I wouldn't be trying to claim the pattern as my own, just selling handmade goods.

Hokay. So I gauge-swatched for the handbag project I'm doing (the one from the Crochet Me book). The swatch was fine, so I started the project.

Nine (194-stitch long) rows (and a skein and a half of yarn) later, I look at it and think "Wait a minute, that looks awfully short."

10 rows of HDC is supposed to be 4" in this project. It's closer to 3", and on the short side at that. I'm obviously past the point of being able to frog it, so what's the best bet? Do I have to start over again? Because I really, really, really don't want to. And by "really, really, really don't want to," I mean "will run out of yarn if I have to."

It's a felted project, so will it even out as I felt?

The width of the gauge is fine. 10 st is 4", just like the pattern specified.

Shrug help

I'm currently working on: http://www.caron.com/projects/bm/bm_shoulder_shrug.html
And have just come to the point where it is time to create the border and attach the craft ring.

However, I can't for the life of me figure out how they attached the ring! I know it sounds silly because the pattern is really very simple! Any suggestions or hints as to how I can work this out?

Thanks in advance!

*EDIT*

Thanks for all the suggestions! I just decided to wing it, and whatever I did seemed to do the trick! I did something similar to a single crochet, but went through two stitches first, then yo, and pulled through the two SC OVER the ring.
I'll post pics soon!!

Little Ghostie

I wasn't liking the free patterns I was finding, so I free handed this little guy. Not too bad for a first attempt. I mostly like that I started with his mouth and worked around.

I just don't know what to do with him now. I might make a few more and some bats and make a Halloween mobile. Other then that I'm stumped.

Hedgehog in progress

Last fella before the work week starts full force.  I'm finising up the pattern for this guy. There is a couple of things I want to change before finalizing the pattern, like bring the "quills" further down on the body and giving him feet.

Potholders!

Finally, after much crocheting through baseball games (I'm a Royals season ticket holder, it's not like there's much to look at on the field...) I finished my second set of crocheted potholders. It's post crochet done in sport-weight yarn, so it took forever. I think I have about 15 hours invested in them - 3 hours each square (two per potholder) and an hour each to fit them together and edge them. And that tail of yarn in the photo? All I had left! Talk about cutting it a little close... but that's what I get for winging it, size-wise, at least! (I did get the pattern from a book, it was called waffle-weave potholders, but I've long since forgotten what book it was...)

Tablecloth in Progress

This is a work in progress. I've been looking for a crochet thread tablecloth project. I decided i liked this pattern for place mats even though it was for yarn and not thread. As i worked it i made a decision to keep on going and make my long-awaited-for-tablecloth. It will be a while until i am done but it will be lovely, i think.

It is a new stitch for me and very no-brainer crochet for stress relief.
The loopy stitches in the center few rings are done with a (sc, 4 ch, sc) in the same loop that i increased to a sc, 6ch, sc for the outer and subsequent rings.

The solid rings are done with a dc that i increased to a treble.

As i go i will increase to a 8 ch for the loopy stitches and a double treble.

Right now the project stands at 19inches by 22 inches.
This has been a great summer project so far. :-)

I finally got my Ravelry invite, and am brand new.  Which, of course, means I spend most of my free time (other than crocheting) staring at al
