13th Carnival [Mar. 4th, 2007|06:12 pm]

The 13th Carnival of Socialism is up at Shiraz Socialist on the theme of "why is the left obsessed with the Middle East?". Voltaire's Priest himself describes it as "sharp and fresh", so what are you waiting for?

Email him your choices at voltaire_reincarnate@lycos.com before the 24th of February!

Carnival 12 [Jan. 29th, 2007|10:12 am]
ex_jangliss590
StroppyBird does her thing with the topic "liberation and the left"...

So prepare to get your teeth into everything from sexuality to Scottish nationalism (and who is to say those things aren't connected?) along with Stroppy's superb commentary on them.

Carnival 11 [Dec. 21st, 2006|05:09 pm]
ex_jangliss590
This Christmas, snuggle up by the roaring fire and read Carnival 11, which unwraps the prickly issues of gender and sexuality. The Daily Maybe has drummed up an impressive array of articles which should make any Socialist's day.

But, arguably, there is one angle he missed out.

Next Carnival will be hosted by the Stroppyblog team of Louise and Stroppybird, on the theme of "liberation politics and the left" - that is, the liberation of oppressed races/genders/sexualities/classes etc.. Don't miss it!

Holiday Carnival! [Dec. 16th, 2006|02:48 am]
ex_jangliss590
The Carnival is grinding back into action this holiday for a Christmas/Chanukah/Eid/Winterval special: Jim Jepps at the Daily (Maybe) has decided on a seasonal theme of gender and sexuality.

So make sure you get your favourite lefty sexuality blog posts, vlog posts or podcasts to him as soon as possible at jimjepps @
hotmail . com (crude anti-spam device: remove spaces before sending!)

Until then, enjoy your seasonal festivities, whichever form they might come in...

Carnival of Socialism 9 [Sep. 26th, 2006|09:48 am]
ex_jangliss590
The Red Mantis has been unearthing some great posts for this 9th Carnival of Socialism! The topics range from jocular depictions of the right-wing lexicon to Marxist interpretations of the recent war in Lebanon. Unmissable!

Carnival number 10 will be at my home blog, but this round will feature a twist. Submissions should be the best of Socialist blogging - past or present, classic or written explicitly for the Carnival - on the topic of the relationship between Socialism and religion.

After Carnival 10 I would like some other blogger to perform this role for the next ten issues - in the name of freshness, new ideas and interest, it is important that the Carnival moves on regularly.

If you would like to make a submission or volunteer yourself to become the Carnival ringleader, please e-mail me at camusfan@msn.com

Carnival of Socialism 8 [Sep. 12th, 2006|11:41 pm]
ex_jangliss590
The delay in posting this was my fault this time, due to a family commitment...

The Carnival goes on, though, and this splendid example will surely set us rolling again now that some of us are getting back to work. Many thanks to Dave for his time and endorsement!

Waiting in the wings for Carnival number 9 is The Red Mantis, and submissions should be emailed to him at MurdukRambo@gmail.com

Until next time, Carnivalistas!

Carnival Service Announcement [Aug. 28th, 2006|10:46 am]
ex_jangliss590
Following the Summer "silly season", with little politics going on and another war just ended, the Carnival is preparing to get back on track. So, a round-up of the present situation:

Simon at The Fluffy Economist is taking an active role in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and so fell beneath our radars. He will host a Carnival later in the year.

Dave of Dave's Part has agreed to fill his shoes and host Carnival #8, which will fall on the 9th of September.

Keep smiling, Carnivalistas!

The Fifth Edition of the Carnival is now in place at Dem Left Infoasis - hurry there for Ecosocialism, 100-per-cent American Socialism, Christian Socialism and more political poetry!

Our next editor is The Red Baron who has particular vitriol stored up for the 9th of July - a petty band of corporate usurers have been seeking to exploit him even as he lies on a hospital bed. Email entries and get well cards to roterbaron@lineone.net and rejoin us then.
