Oppose the Killing of Cats!
From their website:In the U.S., more cats are intentionally killed than die of any other cause. But this doesn't have to be the case. Virtually every feral cat that enters a shelter or animal control facility is killed. The very system that is supposed to care about the welfare of animals is, in fact, subjecting them to a ruthless policy of extermination. Funded by taxpayer dollars, these inhumane programs do not effectively control cat population growth. Only one method - Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) - does. Feral cats are born outdoors and have not been socialized. Uncomfortable around humans, they will never be comfortable living in human homes. They make homes in colonies wherever they can find food, be it in alleys or under a boardwalk. On their own without human intervention, breeding is not controlled, and their numbers steadily increase. All cats, even those born outside and having never lived with a human family, should be allowed to live the lives they deserve - outdoors, happy, healthy and prevented from becoming part of an endless cycle of breeding. Sign the petition showing that you want the killing of feral cats to stop. Then learn about the TNR method and how you can take personal action to help these cats.

Warm Hearts-Warm Babies Charity Project
I found this in the Etsy forums, and thought that I should pass the info along-
~ originally posted by HollysRainbow here ~
Hi there -
My partner passed this on to me, and I thought there might be some on here who would be interested in helping. There are SO many knitters, sewers and crocheters on here.
This is a charity called Warm Hearts-Warm Babies , a nonprofit which provides Colorado hospitals with free burial layettes for families who have lost there infant. They need people to make items for them. They need full-term baby boy outfits most of all
It says" we try to include an outfit, matching hat, booties, small blanket, keepsake, mother's tear hankie and a memory envelope".
This is truly a very sad thing to think about, yet it happens all the time, and nobody hears about it in the news -its private personal tragedy.
So, here is the info: The charity does have materials and fibers to give to those willing to make items. Their phone is 303-919-5413 And the email is: info [!at] warmheartswarmbabies.org Their website is: http://warmheartswarmbabies.org/

During this time, Baylie has decided to help find a cure, she started making Beaded Bracelets, then came T-Shirts, and Now, Hand Made Candles. She is on a Mission now... To raise a Million Dollars to help stop the pain in her friends and herself, she is determined to beat this disease and help ALL else that suffer from it. Baylie:

Tis the season to give and this year I am doing a project to collect Blankets for Homeless people adn also to buy things very cheaply for the Humane society. This is how this works...I give my time and my own money plus the money donated to me. One hundred percent of the monies go directly to the poeple and pets in need :) There is no middle man eating up the donations. In fact I donate the monies to make sure the expenses are covered by me. I also have recruited a few other poeple to help me including some of the people at work. SO I have a donation button below and I would appreciate you giving what you can. For the price of one Starbucks coffee there is the cost of the blankets I found 4.95 to keep someone warm enough from possibly getting very sick or losing their life. And at the very least feeling people care enough to worry about them in the winter time.
Other than my volunteering this Holiday Season I am an artist who sells insurance by day. Currrently working on my thesis in Art Therapy that covers outsider Artists who create scuptures of human forms to create artificial family members in order to stop their lonliness and have a sense of not being so isolated. I have two cats and one pet water turtle. I am a Buddhist and I hope to travel to distant lands one day. I would love to go to Russia and India in order to help out some service organizations such as Artists Without Frontiers Here is their site : " http://www.artistswithoutfrontiers.com/' So much of my early life was about playing music and there are so many in the world who cannot afford instruments. I would love to help the orphanage they help there.

Blanket Drive
I hope this message finds you happy and successful on this Friday morning!
In efforts to spread warmth, cheer and happiness this year we are hosting a blanket drive Dec. 2-22. We are asking for donations of gently used or new & handmade blankets. Any size will do. If you or your organization can help and donate just one blanket, you can help change the life of a homeless person. All blankets will be donated to the Indy Dream Center http://www.theindydreamcenter.org/ Our goal is 2,000 or more blankets.
If you are an indy retailer or service business we would love to feature your kindness on our blog.
Please convo us for more information and where to send the blankets to. (My note: in order to convo her, sign up on Etsy).
Thank you, Gabreial Wyatt Vintage Body Spa, LLC

No Kill Solutions [.com] : A No Kill nation is within our reach
The No Kill Advocacy Center At the No Kill Advocacy Center, we believe that - as a movement - it is up to us to put aside the fatalistic attitudes that change is impossible; that the best we can offer homeless animals is the two prong strategy of failure: adopt some and kill the rest; that a No Kill Nation is unattainable. It is up to each and every one of us to work together to implement sheltering models that have saved thousands of animals. A No Kill Nation is within our reach; and if we work together - with certainty of purpose, assured of our own success, with the philosophy of "what must be done, shall be done" - the attainment of our goal will not be far off.
