About
Ever wonder what people REALLY think about your drawings and comics? If you are like some of my friends and myself, then you can be a little weary that every single comment you receive is positive. No one wants to start shit. The internet is famous for descending into 'flame wars' of highly opinionated anonymous people screaming at the tips of their fingers. But for communities where they are identified, there is the quiet hum of love...the balance is off.

SO to rectify this situation, I propose a critique community. Got something NASTY to say about a post? Well, feel free to post anonymously and let that shit fly! Or don't post anon and say something constructive...or BOTH! It doesn't matter. If you sign up to post here, then you know what you are getting yourself into.

The object of the game however is improvement through REALITY. If you really seek to become a better comic artist, cartoonist or illustrator, then critique is a very good way of excelling. Honest critique isn't always nice. And sometimes, the more vile and hateful comments have more truth behind them then the padded ones. SO, we openly invite both.

DJ Bryant adds: A common misconception with critiques is that the critic will show the artist where they've gone wrong. An artist can only lead his own way. Art critiques are ALWAYS opinions. A critique at best serves as a yardstick to measure the effect your work has on others. Ten people may say ten different things, often contradicting one another. The artist seeking improvement takes this information and USES it to make his own choice. One should take critique as an opinion only, not a declaration of what is "right" or "wrong".

In closing, if you are easily hurt, offended or can't stand a kick in the pants...this isn't the place for you. If you want to strive to become a better, whatever, and want to know what people are REALLY thinking, welcome. Let's get dirty.
