 Well It's not actually.

If there's anyone out there who wants to run this community - You can have it basically - you've been able to post at the top level for ages already anyway.

What am I talking about? Well, like I said, it's important I streamline my workflow. Now, it gets a bit geeky here, but I've set up the new CMO news page to talk to LJ using RSS.. So there are new ways to keep up to date with CMO over LJ. I'm not going to be posting any proper updates here anymore.. Instead;

You can choose between two new CMO Livejournal feeds:

[info]creeping_comic - Adding this user will mean you get CMO comics when it's updated direct to your friends page.

[info]creeping_me_out - Adding bold this user means you get both the CMO news posts AND the comic on your friends page. It might have some funny extraneous links, but nothing's missing.


Anyway, this just means I won't have to update news in the forums, LJ, and the CMO blog individually. As soon as I update the CMO blog it updates LJ for me. As soon as I post a comic it does the same. You also don't have to keep checking back for updates - you'll know when they appear.

If you don't vote though, you might miss daily pics. :) (not that buzz is working at the moment).. So come by the site as often as you can. ^^

Thanks to those of you who have been voting. We're back in the top 100 again! 50 would be the next target. I'd like to stay around 50, to be honest - I think that's the level of 'competition' we're up to anyway - anything above there is a bonus.

The daily pics should work, we've tried pretty much every browser we could think of. If you're having problems, clear your browser cache, close and reopen your browser. try again.. if it's still not working, mention the version number and the browser you're using and I'll work out if it's your end or mine. :)

 Unexpected ability to keep vaguely up to date.

Actually the comic wasn't the hardest part this time, it was the goddamn vote sketches and so-on. Actually it wasnt them either, it was the stupid php scripts failing to behave in any sort of logical manner.

I'll have some 'jobs' going soon. A couple of semi-fun, semi-menial, partly adminny things to do with CMO - obviously whoever ends up in these positions would get nothing other than. Well. Nothing really. It'd help though. It'd be nice to be able to concentrate on the creative work, not the fiddly bits.

 Firstly.. There's going to be an update in a couple of hours (saturday)..

Secondly - I don't suppose anyone has any of the old vote sketches? Any at all.. I lost almost all of them in the HD crash. A shame really. I liked a lot of those.

This is a call to anyone interested in doing a guest strip for CMO.

Pages 31 through "however many I can get" will hopefully be guest strips. The theme is dreams. Anything can happen in them, and they won't be considered CMO canon. Any style is also acceptible. Just try make it fit into the current layout. All of the characters will be asleep at that point, so any of them can be dreaming, it'd hopefully give me a couple of weeks to tie up some loose ends. You can see i'm lagging, and I need to get things organised.

I'm working on ways to make it easy to update, and they're kinda a bitch to sort out. However much extra time I'm given to do it the better really. thanks. ^^ If I get none, updates will be as slow as they have been recently until I can sort it out somehow.

I dont know if you've been VOTING every day.. How could I know.. But if you HAD been voting every day you'd have seen a lot of new vote scribbles. Some of them a faintly important. Obviously if you haven't been voting, then you'll have to wait to see the pictures.

If you dont see them now it's a big bad because other than as buzz vote pics, they're only going to be published once. And that's in something you're going to have to pay real money for.

You're thinking "WTF? Nobody could charge for those shitty scribbles!" Well, you don't know the full story now, do you? WhaHAHaahHAHAahahA.

I'm quite tired, as you can probably tell. Maybe you should VOTE a bit.

Meetup time!

We have a pre-decided meetup time, aiming for midnight GMT (most of the readers of CMO are US based) That's:

5pm in MST (Mountain Standard Time)
6pm in Central USA
7pm Eastern USA

Midnight in UK/GMT
1am in Italy


I'm also ChanOp in #chugworth - the channel for Chugworth Acadamey - And their meetup is at the same time.


--- I'm doing well at getting the vote sketches done, they will definitely start tommorow. I'm hoping to get wednesday's update tommorow, it might be Thursday though. Ooh well.

I thought I'd posted this earlier. @_@ oops.

Anyway. page 24 is up. huzzah. First appearance of someone who hasn't been in CMO for a long time. Well, since before it started. I mean, they were in the other cmo that was only vaguely related to this one.

It's a bit of a shoddy page, but i wasn't feeling up to an epic one. at least it's coming along okay.

Also, added a bio for Lucy. There isn't many characters left to add now, unless I start doing bits about less inportant characters too.

» Wednesdy update!
I updated. :)

It's a bit.. vertical. I'm experimenting with different layouts. I think it's going to use a vertical layout much more often now, as 4 panels suits the way I write better than three, usually.

Annnyway, page 22 is ready for Saturday too, I'm getting much more efficient at this, fortunately. :)

I uploaded page 19 (the wednesday update) - and I'm going back to 2 updates a week, but every second is likely to be grayscale. Sometimes I'll miss an update on that schedule, but it's best I can do.

New bio pages are up.

Last time I posted I was aiming for top 100, and we're around the 50 mark now.. I'm only coming up to the 20th page, and it's still in the stage-setting period in terms of story.

I'm not treating this like a popularity contest, it's more just a way of being seen. I have a good friend in the top ten, and I think dinosaur comics is the best thing ever. I don't have a point to make really. :) It's already doing better than I'd expected.

CMO is at 50 in the main chart.. and currently ***10*** in the Weird Chart - that's perfect. :D The banner is visible there..

Lets see if we can (eventually) get it into the top 100? I'm not sure it deserves to be there, but it'd be nice!

Anyone who isn't familiar with how Buzz works.. You can only vote once a day for each strip, but you can vote for as many as you like every day.. The chart is a listed by total votes in a month, then it resets after each month..

basically.. If you Could vote every day, we'll go up the ranks. Then more people see it, and maybe more vote too.. This would be especially helpful at the beginning of calendar months, when a little voting would go a lot further!

I'd love to see cmo do well, it's a real time-eater for me and I'm happy with progress sofar. I know it's not exactly normal web-comic fare, so isn't likely to get uber-successful, but for now.. Top 100 is the target..

Once we're there, the target might change. :D

ed: I forgot to mention, you get a new sketch every day you vote. They're just little scraps really, but it's the only way you get to see them. ^^
