Introducing

an online magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist

Crossed Genres (crossedgenres) is a new online magazine inspired by an altered version of the Genre Challenge (genrechallenge).

Every month, Crossed Genres posts a new genre. Writers and artists have one month to submit stories and art that combine the chosen genre with some aspect of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy. All submissions are considered for publication (read the submission guidelines.) Crossed Genres will also contain interviews, and articles about the current genre, SF/F in general and the craft and business of writing. The Magazine is free! Please sign up to get the mailing list!

We also have a growing list of writer-related links (suggest a new one!), forums discussing all aspects of writing, and more!

So please visit the website, and sign up for the mailing list! The first genre has been posted and is accepting submissions for Issue #1, to be released December 1. Please consider making a submission!

So I started an after school art group for teenagers at the school I volenteer at.
I was wondering if any of you guys have any ideas for themes I could have as projects each week?
We cant do anything besides drawing- no painting or building models or anything, just drawing.
So far these are the themes I've come up with:

Find a unique person or character, get a picture of them and draw your portrayel of them.
EX; Edward Scissorhands

Free drawing

Feelings with colors and symbols
EX; sad would be blue with a lighthouse (which I consider sad in a certain way)

Still life

Fantasy
EX; creating your version of a unicorn

Different versions of Holiday creatures
EX; evil easter bunny

Favorite settings from different point of views
EX; Superman's fortress from Supermans POV or Narnia

Thanks to anyone who has any ideas!

New faerie paintings :)

I've been a busy little bee this month! I have several new paintings I thought I'd show off.

This is probably one of my favorites that I have done in a long time. I really like working with graphite but this one just came together so beautifully. I worked on her Sunday while I was vending at the Puget Sound Pagan Pride Day and a LOT of people stopped to take my picture. It was a little odd!

This is the second faerie in a series of stone faeries I've been working on. I used watercolor and watercolor pencils on it, and a little iridescent medium.

Part of another series I've been working on! I finished October's Red Moon today, and am waiting for my new A3 scanner to arrive before I post it. I am sick of piecing together my paintings in Photoshop.

And the last one (for now!) is Carnelian, the first in my stone faeries series. I used a lot of watercolor pencils on it but I bought some watercolors I really like finally and have pretty much stopped using the pencils.
