House hunting, part two So we had another round of house-viewing yesterday, although I didn't get to the first house we were supposed to view. Apparently it's really just a three-room, the fourth room needs to be fitted in with a partition etc before it can be used as a bedroom. Carol and Faye (who went to see it) didn't like it, so that's that right there. The second house was quite promising! We really liked it once we came in--it was another corner unit, and there was a recessed space for bikes (they had two tied in), and the furnishings were fabulous. An LCD TV in the living room, another TV in the master's bedroom (a major plus for Carol, haha), a mini-bar, good appliances, great kitchen, spacious rooms...except for the fourth room. :( It was small, just enough for a bed and wardrobe, had no air conditioning unit (and really no good way to put one in), and the window was a sad affair. It was quite a deal-breaker, although the rest of the house was absolutely fabulous. We're working with two particular agents (in addition to the occasional ads we see online and in the newspapers, which obviously have different agents), one a friend of my cousins (Aileen) and another a friend of Elvie's underwater hockey buddy (Nigel). They're both quite nice, and we're really hoping we find a good place soon. This morning we had the movers give us a quote for moving all of our stuff. Basically all we have to do is pack up the small, loose items in boxes they provide, and they'll do all the lifting, trucking, disassembly and reassembly. A little steep, but at least things are taken care of. They wrap stuff in plastic and everything. Now I just need to finalize all the stuff I'm shipping home--clothes and shoes that I don't use anymore included. Current Mood:  awake |

New Tattoos Michelle and I both got our new ink today at Americana Tattoo. She got her Lady Justice version of Death and I got more ports and a bar code.   The lighter one in the middle is my old tattoo. The bottom row is a firewire logo, followed by firewire ports. On top is a bar code. When you scan it, it reads "Joe". The numbers at the bottom of it spell "Joe" in binary. |

When you tell me what # of pages my paper should have, but not APROX. WORD COUNT, I want to murder you, truly.
WHO THE FUCK considers # of pages an adequate measure of length WHEN NOT SPECIFYING LINE SPACING. And yes, I have it on record that different TAs, different classes and profs want different spacing.
I am driving myself nuts pondering how much BS I need to shove in there and it ENTIRELY depends on how many actual words they want. AUGH. |

Back on track I know I have let you down for two weeks. But lack of internet at home makes a blogger difficult to blog. Liftoff! I believe we are well on our way to serious potty learning success. Yesterday was a completely dry day! She hasn't used her diaper or had an accident since sometime on Thursday. Yay! She even managed to tell me a couple times yesterday she needed to use the potty, complete with pee pee dance and all. She's so proud of herself, and we're both pretty proud of her. Now we need to find more panties! I feel a little shopping going on today. Current Mood:  proud |

Busy weekend Tonight, ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) morragh and Dwayne are celebrating their birthdays together. I already prepared the potatoe salad yesterday evening, and the apple cake is in the oven right now. I have to wrap morragh's gift (Dwayne already got one), prepare some surprises (most likely the surprise will be that it won't be finished in time), eat something, do the dishes, create a birthday card and leave - hopefully in a car. And tomorrow all the stuff that we usually do on Saturdays - laundry, cleaning the appartment, iron,... - is waiting for us o_O Current Mood:  restless |

Working a rare Saturday. Thankfully it will be rather slow. The only drag is, I will be unable to go to band practise today. The up side is, I will be able to concentrate my efforts on making calls to find a place to live. My stuff is still in Georgia and although my friend Jim checks on the place on his way home, I still won't rest easy until my stuff is with me. A couple of weeks back my mom's passing hit me in a big way. I had an hour's time betwixt work and meeting someone to look at an apartment. Usually I would have spent that time visiting her - I no longer have that opportunity. I spent the better part of that hour in a nearby parking lot sobbing. Work has been super kewl since I returned. After Katrina, the owners of the business purchased two RV style trailers for the main yard so they could stay next to the office. They are letting me stay in one of them until I find a place. After staying in a sweltering third floor guest apartment for two weeks, Ashleigh and Déz are...... two happy campers. *giggle, snort*Erm, couldn't pass that up. Two happy cats, eh. Today = fail
warning... pity party below
This morning, I woke up early to server issues... again.
Throughout the day, other support issues and bugs have just been rolling in.
My computer decided that audio is overrated and I don't need music.
Our Friday company lunch was at Harvey's Wineburger today. They don't take cash and their ATM was broken. I walked to the check cashing store to use their ATM... broken. When I eventually found an ATM, some asshole tried to run me over on the way back.
My new server install is now delayed until tomorrow morning at best.
I'm tired and sticky and I want to go home. |

I just got laid off. All contract employees were laid off effective August 1 at the latest. I have one more week. I'm sitting here at Gloria's Restaurant having lunch and drinks. Petition and Award. I'm petitioning against building cities in the state of Colorado.
There is going to be a new law that all lights should be out by eleven at night: especially if the moon is full.
And. If you have a view of the mountains fucking - fucking take care of them, okay?
I'm at my shitty uncle Paul's house but I must say, the view from his window is beautiful. I'm in the living room at the moment and just sitting on his futon, waiting for my girlfriend to fall asleep because I stole the house phone without his permission to call her (no cell service, plus I'm a dumbass and forgot my cell charger). It's so gorgeous out here. I can see the mountains behind a veil of fog and it's just...breathtaking.
How could anyone want to build homes that destroy the view?
I understand wanting to see it but. With the way people are building nowadays, soon enough there are going to be houses on every inch of those mountains. I...I don't want to see that. It's going to make me really sad.
Mountains are beautiful.
I wish we'd take better care of them.
Oh, yes, and just so we're all aware~
I deserve a "best girlfriend EVUR" award. I could get kicked out of my uncle's house for talking on his phone. He hates kids, and more specifically, he hates me. He said I could use the phone as long as I used it, well, responsibly. I asked my dad what that meant and he said, "when ever he doesn't know about it." So I took that as my dad's kay-oh to call missxretro and chat before we fell asleep, or more specifically, she fell asleep. So I'm talking really low, trying to make sure he won't find out and then all of the sudden I hear a crack. Of course I immediately think it's his door opening so I freak and check and sure enough, his door is cracked (mind you I have no idea if it was before). So I run outside, facing coyotes and a pissed off cat. Then I slowly edge inside and have been kind of sitting stationary, waiting for her to drift off to sleep.
But you know what makes it all worth it?
Hearing her sleep drenched voice say she loves me.
It's really the fucking cutest thing in the world, okay?
Okay, I'm done.
And LJ cuts are so last year. I'm only gonna use them for really long journals, like if I'm totally rambling, or writing pieces.
