Beauty is something that has fascinated and inspired writers, poets and artists all over the world. It is inchangeably connected to the human mind to seek for a beauty, a perfection that is instantly mind-soinning, world colliding, out of this world and universally true.
It is with this quest in mind that we proudly welcome you to creamy cherries, and we invite you to seek with us for beauty in its purest form. Over the years, there have been a number or brilliant minds, of pioneers who showed us something new, something old, something special, but most of all, something beautiful. Da Vinci comes to mind, Monet, Michelangelo, but also Oscar Wilde, Charles Baudelaire, T.S. Elliot. The importance of their work was often recognized the fullest only after their deaths.
We do not claim that we, or anyone we know, is of the same calibre as these men were, but we do claim that here at livejournal there is a lively, interesting and talented community of artists. What do we seek? We seek for the pioneers here, for artists who bring us the old and the new, the classic and the trendy, the complex and the serene but most of all: the beautiful.

Creamy cherries will continuously have twelve members, two of whom are your moderators, ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) aery and brasaremean. The other ten, are the ten best artists of livejournal, the creme of the elite with a cherry on top. These ten artists may post their work, but they may also post tips, questions, rants, requests, discussions, essays - they have almost absolute freedom. What we hope will happen is a community filled with art, with help, with discussions and meta. What we hope, is that creamy cherries will become a place of refreshing originality and stunning creativity, of learning and being taught, an open field of beauty and discussion in the center of an enormous art community.
Art is dynamic. Beauty is dynamic. Our world is dynamic, as Plato once said: "everything flows". As such, none of the members here will have a permanent place - new artists can always stand up and challenge a member. We want this to be a place of the best, constantly, and we hope many artists will challenge one another, for it is through challenge that we improve the fastest.

So how exactly, are these ten members selected? As said, there are ten spots. If there is an open spot, the first person to apply will automatically get it, easy isn't it?
But, what if there is no open spot? Does that mean you don't have a chance? Well, no, it doesn't, that is the main point. At any time, you can challenge any member. To challenge someone, you need to write out an application first, here. We will then post a notification for the member you have challenged that he or she has been challenged. The challenged member then gets to pick a challenge!. This means that it could be icon making, but it could also be coding a layout, writing a tutorial or taking a photograph of your bed in the morning. Anything is possible.
When the member in question has decided on a challenge, he or she will let us know, and we will post the challenge publicly. To that post, you must submit your entry. Keep in mind that also the time limit will be decided upon by the challenged member. If the time limit is one day and that day just happens to be the day you can't get online, that's too bad for you, but do not fear! You can always challenge again and again and again. The only restriction is that you may only challenge one person at a time.
Members are obliged to accept all challenges, and let us know what the challenge will be within a week. No exceptions, no hiatusses, if you want to go on hiatus you're out. But this doesn't matter - once you're back, you can challenge again and regain your place! Dynamics is the key concept of this community.

In the public post that contains the material people will vote upon, there will be two parts:
part one: not-anonymous
We believe that pioneers are not only defined by their skills or abilities. We believe that their will to refresh, to help and to be a pioneer, is just as important. Considering this, the first part people will vote for consists out of a collection of icons and other work, and a bit of text telling us who you are and why you are good - indeed, the part you have to write in your application.
part two: anonymous
The second part, will be the specific challenge that the challenged member has come up with. Both entries will be put up anonymously, and thus you may not show your submissions to anyone before voting has ended.
part three: not-anonymous
Part three is based on personal preference. Whereas with the first two parts it is the objective to vote for skills, either in general or relating to a certain challenge, this one is all about taste. Members may vote for one of the two based on anything at all - maybe you like one person better than another, that's fine. Maybe you hate one of the two contestants and thus vote for the other, that's fine too. Maybe one of the contestants bribed you with oral sex, that's quite all right as well. Anything goes, really.
Members and non members will vote for these three parts seperately. They may write down reasons, they do not have to. The person who wins two of the three will become a member.
