| OK, so i have been through 3 different atypical antipsychotics and EACH ONE has given me intolerable side effects.
Abilify gave me major tremor at 4mg.
Geodon made me fall asleep spontaneously and randomly, plus i was dizzy and lightheaded and would almost pass out when standing up.
now, on the new drug Saphris............ i feel like i have bugs crawling all over me. little tiny bugs. also, i fall asleep at night quite nicely but i am wide awake at 4am. and i am dizzy and mildly lightheaded all day long.
i see my pdoc tomorrow and i have to tell you, i am done with this class of drug. DONE. so i am not taking it tonight or tomorrow morning. i cant stand it.
i sit here wondering if i really need an antipsychotic anymore. and if i do, isnt there something i can take PRN for when i start to spike manic?? i'm not on anything for depression anymore, i think i could maybe go along with just a mood stabilizer.... maybe. anyway that is what i am going to ask for. to only be on the lamictal. it cant be any worse than these stupid side effects. i see my pdoc every week or two weeks anyway and he will call me back within the day if i call him, so i feel like i am pretty well covered.

| I figure i'd post up a littel about my initial observations about Saphris, since it is so new and i havent found anyone who has taken it yet... maybe this is of interest?
It is an atypical antipsychotic, related to Geodon. Just approved by the FDA. taken sublingually, so you let it dissolve and dont swallow it or chew it.
Day 1
Could they make this stuff taste any worse??? you'd think if they want you to let it dissolve under you tongue instead if swallowing it they's make it vanilla or mint or something...or at least TRY to make it taste OK? however it tastes bitter ad nasty. Luckily it dissolves quickly. Unfortunately you cant drink or eat or swish for 10 minutes, so you are stuck with the taste for a little while/
it makes your mouth and tongue numb. totallt numb.
it works really quickly. at least i assume it does becasue i got kind of loopy and dizzy about 20 minutes after taking it. it doesnt make me feel like sleeping like the Geodon did. i will see how i feel throughout the day. and i take it again at bedtime.
i am only on 5mg 2x daily. the usualy dosage is 10mg 2x but i have strong reactions to meds so we are going cautious and slow.
can we put a tag for Saphris up? since it is a new psych med?

| Am I mad to think these things, To feel the way I feel? To believe in ghosts and angels When "reality's" surreal?
The world's interconnected. Anyone can see; And I'm here at the centre - The fat controller - me.
Coincidences don't exist. The planet's pre-arranged. Smoke some dope and clench my fist - It's the others what's deranged.
The T.V.'s telepathic. The postman's K.G.B. The radio's empathic. There's arsenic in my tea.
The junk-mails full of messages. Mossad's been in touch? There's anthrax in my sausages Life really is too much!
The gas-man's come from M.I.5. His eyes electric blue. What to do to stay alive? There's cameras in the loo.
I must out on a mission - The world, my soul, to save. No manic intermission. I'm bold! I'm free! I'm brave!
The sky above is orange; The street below is black. The life I live is free-range; But there's a devil on my back.
Smash a window! Break the spell! Get the "Busies" swarming. Crazy antics in a cell. Sectioned early morning.
Interrogated, medicated, Movements now staccato. Worst of all humiliated. Just what the fuck then are you?
You're no Satan! You're no Christ! You're just another number. "You're brains, my dear, they must be sliced!" Do they come much dumber?
You? Commander of the Gods? What a crazy notion. You've lost your clothes, you stupid sod! And caused a great commotion!
We're all mistaken so they say At some time or another. Just one more long schizoid day - Blame it on my mother!
that was a poem about schizophrenia, which i may have, i have many symptoms these days.

| Has anyone been on Reboxetine/Edronax for ADHD? I'd love to hear any stories you have about it's effectiveness/side effects. Thanks so much. <3 | |

| I HATE GEODON. nasty side effects.
So I saw my pdoc today. He asked me if I wanted to try a smaller dose of the Geodon or if I wanted to try something else entirely.
I expressed my interest in getting the hell off the Geodon. So...
I am now acting as a guinea pig for my doc because he is putting me on something he has never Rx before. It's called Saphris and I guess it just got approved by the FDA last summer. It requires preauthorization for my insurance to cover it - this stuff is E X P E N S I V E. Thank god for copays!!! The Geodon was $$ enough (at $600 a refill, $50 copay) but I think this stuff may clock in even more.
We'll see how it works out. I am interested in trying it out. It is still an atypical antipsychotic like Geodon, and in the trials less than 10% of people had undesirable side effects. It is supposed to be better for anxiety too.
I am hopeful, maybe this will be the one... After like a million trials it would be nice to find a maintenance schedule that works.
anyone else tried this one yet?

| I was wondering if anyone has ever had a stay at columbia presbyterian in NYC......if so, what did you think of it?
abd just so this is related to meds....5 years ago i was prescribed Fioricet (butalbutal) for intense headaches I've had all my life.....after a while I realized it helped my debilitating anxiety...and it just made me feel good. Over the years ive become increeasingly addicted to it; taking up to 20 pills a day. But i do legitamatly need it.....what do you think I should do? has anyone else had this problem with this medication?

| GET ME OFF THE GEODON NOW
i cant stand this any longer. not only am i falling dead asleep while doing things but i have been getting up so unbelivably dizzy and lightheaded i cant move. this morning i couldnt ven make the kids their breakfasts. i went back and passed out for another 2 hours, and now i feel a little weird but generally OK.
this happened when i was first taking the geodon.
i see my pdoc 2/2 and am demanding to be taken off this shit.
i'll take the muscle tremor from Abilify over this crap any day of the week.
|
| Has it worked for mood stabilization for anyone? I'm more on the bipolar side of ADHD, and Paxil made me INSANELY anxious and jittery. So I think my dr will start me on klonopin. I am really pissed off that my new dr didn't take into consideration that zoloft and wellbutrin made me feel so low and angry.but apparently this sort of SSRI is better than zoloft. Ugh. but I'm terrified of trying out meds anymore... | |

| I am wondering if anyone has had this happen while on Geodon.
forst, i am on 300mg Lamictal in the AM, and 60mg Geodon 2x daily (120mg total).
i usually take the Geodon woth lunch and dinner.
i have had to keep pushing back when i take the 1st dose though because almost exactly 4 hours after i take it, i completely shut down. like, falling asleep standing up kind of shutting down. the effect lasts about 3 hours and then i feel OK again, if i make it through without falling asleep.
i was taking it at noon and was falling asleep while getting my kids from shcool. now i take it at 5pm and here it is 9:30 amd i am about to fall asleep.
i take my 2nd dose when i go to bed, so that one doesnt matter.
so since it is 4 hours after whenever it is i take that 1st dose i assume it is the Geodon.
anyone else had something like tis happen?
