six hours of handsewing, the kimono finally ready, although not perfect. I sew the sleeves wrong, although it does not show *grins*, and the front part was not wide enough to cover the legs completely, but hey, not bad for a beginner eh? *laughs*

Okay.

Let me get one thing straight here, first. I know some people do not have the greatest situation in the world iwith their salaries, but miners in here cannot really complain. They earn much more than any other group of workers (perhaps with the exception of the construction workers) and should therefore have little to complain about with their early retirements, huge retirements and often money they get to find work elsewhere.

Still, they protest.

Today was one of those protests. I wouldn't mind so much (except for the notion this country has, that everything can be solved by going on a strike and threatening the government), except the behavior of those involved was...really below any stadards.

First, they were throwing firecrackers and other small exposives at the ministery building. All well and good,  only between the protesters and the ministry building (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind their range) was a sidewalk with other people trying to get on with their lives and with the severly hindered public transpot lines that day. Not cool. Not cool at all. I mean, hell, someone could have really been hurt.

They, i think, i will avoid the dumb and dumbers by cutting it across the park. This is one of the nicer parks in the centre, where parents often bring children and people generally go for a walk. I come in through the gate and see what? Some 10 guys peeing onto the grass next to some bushes or trees. The FUCK? I mean, a public toilet is just 30 second away in the underground passage. They would only have to pay like 10 eurocents to get there! But nooooooooooooooo, of course not. Why go tot he toilet like civilized people, when you can pee publicly ? It's so much more convenient.

I sometimes really wish it was already 20 years later and people understood those things. The firecracker-throwing public -peeing protesters will definitely NOT get my vote of sympathy. Or that of anyone, who went down that street today.

Me: (Vehemently) Hibari is NOT a cowboy! It's weird!
Kree: (Argues) But it DOES make sense!
Me: (Irritated) WHY?!
Kree: (Matter-of-factly) It's okay for him to say "Howdy." because it makes him riding a horse legit, you know. Sort of like an affirmation. He likes it Italian too, lucky bastard! (Mutters)

[SILENCE]

Me: (Enlightened) Why didn't I think of that? O_o;;;

It's 11pm and I'm still up. I've been working on a kimono for Aki-kun since 8pm. It has not finished, only half-way done. It's taking very long because I handsew everything *facepalms*

But I got everything figured out, which is quite simple actually. Perhaps next I'll do my own kimono ^ ^

Great. Now they can fly, feline world domination is assured.

Not of anything in particular, I am just literally sick and tired.

The Tapestry of Possibilities thing is going well.  That is the event that's been happening several times this week (read: 19 held in two different locations; I myself am in charge of 9 of these orientation shows).  The idea is to have a discussion about diversity on the campus and starts with a performance of a series of skits done by a student theater group (which is actually pretty good) followed up by a moderator-lead discussion section.  The thing is roughly 90 minutes long with a 90 minute break between each showing.  I am there for the whole time, so I've been fairly busy with this, but it also makes for long days. 

What do I mean by that exactly?  Well, I came into work on Tuesday at 8:40 and left at 9:20.  That's AM and PM respectively.  Today I came in at 10am and I will probably be done around 10pm. I will say that this is an interesting "baptism of fire" for my first week.  Especially when you add dealing with a dance that was supposed to happen tomorrow but hasn't been completed in the planning stages yet and is suddenly canceled on top of it all.

So I am tired, and a little sick too... I seem to be developing a sinus infection along with a cold.  Much sucketh.

The discussions after the performances have been very interesting.  Lots of good comments and eager discourse (despite most of the participants being freshmen).  I was very impressed with one moderator and the performing group as a whole when they had a native Ithacan stand up and say "do you honestly think anything of what you just showed us is really valid because it's not going to change the minds of die-hard bigots and racists and most people don't think like this anyways".  I went up to them afterward and said "congratulations on dealing with a native.  I can assure that pretty much every single kid that has gone through the school system here thinks like that.  I know I heard classmates talk like that and I know my siblings have as well".

Quite simply, when you're raised in Ithaca, you're exposed to diversity education at least from the time you're in 1st grade (they probably start in pre-K and kindergarten, but I wasn't here for that) and as a result, a lot of students grow up with a mentality of "well if I don't have any personal biases that means that no one else does and talking about diversity as an active thing is really very silly and stupid". 

What can I say, Ithaca is a weird place and I didn't even realize how strange it was until I left.

I wasn't gonna add the red ribbons, I was gonna do a little black top. But alas, I cut the pattern wrong, the pattern is not wrong, it's a basic pattern but it didn't work the way I originally wanted it, and so I ended up having to improvise *grins* None was taped, everything was sewn, although not properly *laughs*

Hope sugarmommy is not unhappy with the result ^ ^ Good thing is I found a desk lamp I could use to add light, so at least the picture is not too crappy.

So I've come to the decision that if two more people friend my fic journal (bringing the number to 58) then I will open requests for a day, few hours until I feel overwhelmed and freak out.

Also, went downstairs yesterday to grab a can of diet coke and the usual fat french lunch ladies were gone and instead there were two asian sushimen. Making sushi. With the sushi outfits and everything.

It was all sort of really confusing, and sort of cumbersome too since I don't like sushi XD

I GO BACK TO SCHOOL ON SUNDAY WISH ME LUCK GUYS.

P.S. I have this really weird idea kicking around in my head, I'm sorry to all the people I mentally scar with my writing **bows**
