я никогда не видила столько серых и белых облаков сразу. Они перемешаны и покрывают все небо над Киевом. Боже, как красиво. Я люблю такую погоду. Только бы дождь не начался, а то я намерена весь день гулять по городу)

Hey, did all of your Adam & Eve orders go through? I had one that was suspended and another one that I placed awhile ago that was labled as "cannot process". Everything has been changed to shipped!!!! That means I have six things coming my way!

Mike just said to me, "Wow, you have a lot of masturbation planned!" Then he asked if I had friends coming over or something! Hahahaha!

So how about y'all? Did your orders get shipped?

Ratatouille

Wow. I just watched this movie and... Wow. It's both super light-hearted and but also dark, and it's a movie without any REAL bad guys. I mean, just real honest-to-goodness personalities in a situation that could...almost...be a real life situation. I'm also really impressed by the different levels this movie can offer. Seriously, I think it would make a good ENGLISH lesson once a teacher starts on symbolism, metaphors, and other such double meanings.

I've got movies I really, really have enjoyed, but I haven't been impressed by a movie as a whole (characters, plot, animation, dialogue, and everything in between) in... oh, probably never. The Incredibles comes fairly close though, and I doubt it'll come in standing along with my old favorites The Neverending Story and the 1980s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory... But still, just wow.

Very nifty. <3

Today's finally the day! Our flight leaves at 8:30 tonight and we land in Philadelphia at around 11. From there, it's a 2 hour drive to Joel's house. I'm going to be dead tired tonight :(

I'm bringing my camera, so be prepared for a picspam when I get back. Enjoy your weekends!

I'm about to see a million things I thought I'd never see before
I'm about to do all of the things I dreamed of and I don't even miss you at all.

have you guys seen this?

this movie looks so creepy. I hate to admit that I like what Brad Pitt is doing. Burn After Reading looks so good (how could it be bad, its the Coen brothers). This movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, looks bizarre. Anne and I feel extremely awkward but excited after watching it.

now seriously guys, watch it and let me know if I'm alone in being weirded out by it.

I love my livejournal. Sometimes I seem to forget about it and dump all my thoughts into my paper journal instead. Don't worry, you're probably not missing much that you care about. Still, though. ILU LJ!! I've had an lj since I was 12 I think...far longer than I've kept any other journal, anyway, and it feels like I'm cheating on it. I just love pen & paper, though! Argh!

Anyway. Jason's family is coming this weekend! Yay!!! :D Can't wait, even Ellie is coming <333 I am so excited, it will be like the high point of my summer, except for the last time they visited and also when my mom visited. And also not working has been pretty nice--understatement. However, 'not working' is not an event, and this shall be a joyous event.

It was hot here today; one of the hottest days of summer--top three at least. It sucks if you have to go outside for any reason during the day, but I actually enjoy it. I just flop down on the couch in my shaded porch and it's like being wrapped in a burrito or something, without the sticky foodiness. Just hot & easy. Reminds me of life. Yep.

Anyway, I have decided on a new goal. A pet skunk. They are so adorable. I never really saw one up close until I moved to Santa Cruz county, and they are just the best. We have a family of them on our street, with little baby skunklings and everything. So fluffy and flouncy and cute and they have such small little heads and it is really rather funny. Their scurry = the best of silly rainbow dreams. They get so scared of the car that they just run along in front of it, scampering like mofos but never actually moving to the side and out of the way. <333 Last night we drove by two of them at like 3am on an empty street, and I made Jason slow down and I rolled down the window and started yelling at them in a stupid voice, things like, 'SKUNKERS BE CAREFULS!!!! YOU ARE SILLY AND MIGHT GET HURT!!' (<- somewhat embarrassing to admit, but what can I say, cute animals bring out the baser childishness in me). Anyway one of them got all flustered and ran into this bus stop area and got confused because he could not escape:

I did not have my camera, so I took the liberty of drawing a picture. It is not to scale; the bus stop area was bigger. Anyway, it was so adorable and he was SO fat, the fattest skunk I have ever seen, and it he kept scurrying around it and could not figure it out SOCUTEAHHHH. Even though he was probably terrified, he did not seem to consider 'skunking' me, but I felt bad for scaring him/exploiting his cuteness for my PURE GLEE, so I stopped 'harassing' him shortly after. Anyway, me & Jason have always talked about a pet skunk, but until I started reading about it recently, I didn't think it was all that common. But now I must have one, srsly. It is actually one of my more attainable dreams, unlike spacewalking, time travel, seeing Chauvet Cave, staying healthy while having a diet of mainly french fries & chocolate, and being an heiress. Compared to those things, I want a pet skunk about the same amount, but this last one is actually quite doable.

ok so that was pretty fucking epic. He was amazing. Even my little 80 year old super conservative Republican gran was won over. I'm going to wear my Obama pin on my apron to work, just watch me rep political messages while I'm on the clock.

title or description

One year ago today, my grandfather died.

In facing my first close death, and consequently my own mortality, my perspective on life undertook a cycle of change, from months of reactionary nihilism to gradually a more existential outlook, which has resulted in a more decisive and assertive way of living. Opposing expectations, I gained a lot of positivity from the entire experience. More than theoretically, I appreciate these death lessons.

Otherwise, in recalling the man and not this legacy, numbness prevails. I haven't wept with abandon, or found it impossible to comprehend at any moment, or broken down at the gravestone. I've done nothing like those things. Occasionally such as now, I look at the few photographs I have with the notion of sentimentality and feel that upset might come, but it hasn't really. I have been subdued in the previous hours, recognising the significance of the time, and mostly it leaves me detatchedly and abstractly thinking of the concept of emotional anniversaries and whether or not I could write about that, and that since I'm in this channel of mind maybe I should study some of my literary theory papers.

So I suppose if this is grief it is a complicated process.
