Hello again! I'm finally home again from going to see Craig in Des Moines Saturday night. I am happy to report that all went well-- except for one little thing, but more on that later.
The auditorium looked to be sold out and after the opening act comic (apparently a writer on the Late Late Show) introduced him, Craig came out wearing jeans and shoes that were very yellow. It was kind of surprising; I'm so used to his jacket and tie, I guess! He kept the crowd laughing the entire time; it was fantastic-- a bit like watching his opening monologue (only with just a bit more swearing, haha) and crossing your fingers it'll never end. He covered many topics from his first experiences visiting America, to his time in rehab, to amusing stories about his Jewish/Scottish wedding and lamaze classes before his son was born, to crazy celebrities, to heavens, what else! Lots of funny stuff.
When he said at last that he was going to bid us good night, the entire crowd went "awwwww!" You just wanted him to keep going! He was very, very sweet and GENUINE and said how much he enjoyed visiting the Midwest and how nice people had been and how good the audience was and how much he appreciated it, on and on... so nice! Who couldn't love him?
( Here are probably more details than anyone really needs about meeting him, but oh well, and a picture )
