Hello all and Happy October! I'm new to Live Journal and don't quite know what I'm doing. I made some Zombie Girls and I thought I'd show them off! All dolls have one of a kind dresses and are ready to munch on some domes just in time for Halloween!!

12th-Sep-2008 06:03 am - Plushie patterns?
I was just wondering if anyone knew any sites with good plushie patterns, I tried google and it seems that all of the sites that come up either make my browser freeze, want me to pay money for their patterns, or just don't work. I'd particularly love a pattern for a bird plushie that I could alter a bit to make it look like a cockatiel or a parakeet.

Also, this will probably be painfully obvious when I get the answer, but when I find a pattern online, how do I use it? do I print it out and piece it together?

curebetty
Hello All,
A friend of mine has asked me to sew a sample of a plush doll she'd like to market. At the most, it would 3 inches thick and 16 inches tall.   My concern is that since it would be for young kids (under 3), it would need to be washable (and no small removable parts!)  Is your standard polyfill washable? I guess I'm wondering about the trapped moisture in there after washing and drying.   I was thinking fleece or terrycloth for the outside, and polyfill for the inside.  I've never sewn anything like this before  - I tend to stick to clothing,  so if this is a  "DUH!" question, I apologize in advance :D   Thanks!

I've been a member for a few years, but I have not posted anything I have made in a long time. I took a break to have a baby! I have been sewing again though.

Here is what I have been doing:

Hello everyone I'm new here and decided to check this place out. I made this Joker Oscar doll a roughly a week ago for a video I made. Here are some pictures (and the video I made it for at the end). I needed a Jokerized Oscar and painted an art doll. The hair is yarn I had to spray paint because I couldn't find any green. Let me know what you think.

Married Life
Hello everyone, I'm being brave and posting a mostly-finished doll that I made yesterday/today.
The pattern is from a book called "Sewing Tiny Toys" by Carolyn Vosburg Hall, and the face and ears were inspired this morning by a certain online mmo (this post is x-posted).
I still need to make clothes, but my roomie says "eh, they don't wear much clothing in game anyways" *grins*. I decided I should stop lurking, and post something for once.

it's my first plushie, and made out of felt. Hand-sewn. I used fineliner markers for the face, but the felt has fuzzed it a bit. Any suggestions for faces on felt? I'm too lazy to embroider.
Since this was my first one, I cut the felt out wrong (should've cut 1 pattern on the front, and one on the back side, ended up cutting them all on the front) and had to cobble her together. I'm hoping the next one comes out better. I'm also going to experiment with hairstyles, as I don't like this one all too much (it sticks out in the back) and I used the book's joint method, so her joints are movable (and entirely made with thread, though they did suggest the button method too).

My camera doesn't like closeups, so she's a little fuzzier than just the felt would allow for.

Hullo there, another new person here.  I love goth crafts!  :D  This community is so much fun to look at!  I've seen some really great stuff!
I like to work with a variety of materials...cloth, paint, polymer clay, kiln-fired clay, drawing, jewelry, etc etc.

I have a website with some of my stuff up (it's a work in progress!) at www.BlackWyrmDesigns.com.  So far I have jewelry and some 3D art up.  Hope you check it out!

Here's a painting I did...it's on an oval canvas and done in acrylic.  I can't remember the measurements but I want to say it's 1.5 to 2 feet tall-ish.

Here's an epoxy thingie I made...I like to do layered collages in epoxy.  For this one, I made a latex mold of a life-sized replica skull and poured tinted epoxy into the front of it which I then set into clear epoxy in a tile mold (epoxy won't stick to really shiny plastic) with a collage behind it.

Here's a "Snow, Glass, Apples" doll I made a few years ago (polymer clay on a wire frame, with handmade clothes and woolen hair).

I've got some more images here if you want to see...

Does anyone have any tips for sewing circular shape?  I've tried sewing around grapefruits and and things but my round shapes don't come out even and neat.

Hi! I just saw this community pop up like everybody else. Unfortunately, my local craft community is not hopping on here so its nice to see there's one that is. I thought I would share some of my creations in the last year.

Just a taste... )
