After seeing some fan-made Vortex Manipulators recently, I got struck by the urge to make one myself. Leather wasn't an option, so I decided to crochet it :)

Current progress is over here, at my LJ. (Scan is ENORMOUS.) The yarn is Sirdar Denim Chunky, which makes a good, thick fabric, especially in double (single in USA instructions) crochet. More brown sections to make, including strap. Controls and screen will be sewn on beads and buttons.

Okay, I haven't sent this parcel off yet so I'm putting all this behind a cut.

I just discovered this community, and it's good that I did because I made something a couple months ago and I wasn't sure where to show people :P

Basically, my friend is in love with DW, as am I, and I wanted to make her a REALLY AMAZING birthday present. So I went to Michael's, got some wood glue, thin pieces of wood, and blue paint, and went to work for four days straight...
