ah, the joys of being on my school newspaper!
Does this count as crafty? I don't know, but I feel pretty proud of my accomplishment. Ever wanted to do something DW-related for a school assignment? Well, I did!

So I'm a journalism major, and for my final in my newspaper production class, we had to write a story, take or acquire pictures and process them (TIFF formatting, CMYK, 300 dpi, etc), and then after all that, design a page in our newspaper program, Quark. In... two hours. Thankfully, we could write the story on anything we wanted (feature, hard/soft news, just so long as we wrote it). So I chose... ah what else...

Ok, so the article kind of sucks and it's scattered with typos here and there as I couldn't have other eyes look over it. Some of the pictures are colored and some are grayscaled because I was under the clock and sometimes my instincts go out the window when I'm under a time crunch. Sadly, it wont ever make the real paper since it was just proof that we can design a page in super quick time. But doesn't it make you wish there was a DW newspaper? Hmm... The TARDIS Times?

(Fingers crossed I get an A) I got an A!

But doesn't it make you wish there was a DW newspaper though? Hmm... The TARDIS Times?

There kinda was for a while. The Friends of Doctor Who used to publish a quarterly newsletter laid out just like a newspaper, with a masthead, "Continued on page...", articles above and below the fold and everything.

Nicely done, by the way!

That's awesome. I love classic newspaper style, if only because it's classic.

Thank you!

It seems very strange to me that One, Four, Five, Six and Seven are in black and white while the rest are in color. I think if you couldn't find color photos for all the Doctors (though why you couldn't is beyond me, as there are plenty for all of them) you should have greyscaled the rest to match.

Yeah, I realize that now really, but my brain was mad scattered. Like I said, I was on the clock and I had to find the pictures and process them, plus go with pictures that were relative hires. In retrospect, I would have done a million other things.

That bugged me, too! Mostly because most (or all? I'm not sure) of Two's episodes were black and white, but he had his pic in color while the others were black and white ;)

But that's pretty nitpicky for a two-hour assignment. Good job!

Eh, like I said, it was more time constraints, aha. It would have taken one click to have gone grayscale on all of them, but my brain = out the window. I think if I had more time, I would have gotten hires, colored images. Still, thank you!

Oh, I'm OCD, too. Believe me, it's so hard to work on a newspaper and make mistakes and have your mistakes in print! ACK!

All of twos were black and white. The first color episode is the first episode of 3, though after that they went to black and white again, flipping around on occasion that first season of 3 until finally going all color.

As a former journalist myself, I doff my cap to you! Well done! I hope your classmates are cool enough to appreciate it! I'm glad you're spreading the gospel of Doctor Who to the next generation.

All of my classmates know I'm a major angophile, so they pretty much think I'm mental, but so be it, aha. I have to stick to what I know. Thanks for the feedback :)

AW, thank you! Like I said, there are a few typos because I wrote it so quickly without a beta-er, but I think overall, it turned out OK aside from a few things. Thank you! I hope so too!

That looks amazing!!! Great job!!

I like the way you centered the Doctor/Donna shot, it makes a nice impact. And the shots of all ten Doctors is a nice touch!

Of course...goes to show you how long I spent on my college newspaper doing copyediting and production....my eye immediately went to check if the columns of text lined up. *shakes head* Old habits die hard.

Actually I have to say for as long as I spent doing Production I doubt I could make something that nice in two hours. There's a reason I called the program PAINmaker!
