Doctor Who birthday party success!
Well it appears the party has gone well. Those boys who didn't know the Doctor, watched enthusiastically the selected episodes my son chose. Those who knew about the Doctor, enjoyed watching the episodes as well. Also, my attempt at a Dalek cake turned out better than I expected! Here are some pictures of my chocolately good creation!
Materials used:
2 Duncan Hines Red Velvet cake mix
1 dome pan (used to create the skirt on the "princess" cake for my daughter's 6th birthday party)
Chocolate frosting
2Priouline cookie
1 Twizler red licorice
1 3 Muskateers mini candy bar
White frosting
Malted Milk balls
Blue Icing Gel
I chose the Red Velvet cake because of the Dalek's thirst for blood, plus it makes a richer more sturdy cake/
One Pirouline was cut to make the eye stalk and the lights/ears on top. The ears were covered with white frosting. The Plunger was made from the other Prouline cookie, and we took the 3 Muskateers bar, broke off a piece (ate the leftovers) and molded it for the suction cup. The laser gun was made out of the Twizler cut to size.

I made the cake in the dome pan, plus a batch of cupcakes out of the same batter. I filled the cupcake papers up full so that they would puff up over the sides. Once cooled, I cut the dome off of 3 cupcakes and frosted them to the top of the cake. Then I added a full cupcake to the top. I then frosted the rest of the cake. I added the Malted Milk Balls to the sides, added the suction cup, laser gun, eye stalk and light ears.

I put a dab of white frosting on the end of the eye stalk and put a dollop of blue icing gel on the end to make the eye. I then used the blue gel to add the lines that join the head and body.
It was a lot easier than I thought it would be to make this!
The Dr Who masks that I made were also a big hit! Here is the entire "cast" of the Dr Who Party!
