ah, the joys of being on my school newspaper!
Does this count as crafty? I don't know, but I feel pretty proud of my accomplishment. Ever wanted to do something DW-related for a school assignment? Well, I did!

BBC Destroys Cute Knitted Versions of Doctor Who Monsters
http://io9.com/389647/bbc-destroys-cute-knitted-versions-of-doctor-who-monsters

"I'm not a big letter-writing campaign person, but a line has been crossed when the BBC starts taking away cute knitted dolls that look like Doctor Who monsters. Apparently some kind of copyright nonsense inspired a wanker at BBC legal to force the nice knitter at Mazzmatazz to remove all the cool patterns posted there for people who wanted to make plush animals out of the Ood (at left) and several others. Let remind you that the Ood are born with their brains in their hands, sing psychically, and have already been oppressed enough by humans. Now I am deprived of these cute yarn monsters and I am angry. Please write to the BBC and complain."

Strange news about DW crafts...

Did anyone see this?  I'm not sure if this is allowed, but because it has to do with DW crafts and that's what this comm is about I posted it.  Feel free to delete, but I thought people in this comm had a right to know about this.

The 5 hr Doctor Who Scarf
Or as close as I could get it without buying more yarn.
My son asked me the night before he had to give a speech on England if I could knit him a Dr. Who scarf.   Of course I did what any good mother would do and set up the awful knitting machine.  It makes me nervous to use it because if you don't apply just the right pressure it drops stitches and then you have to fix the rows.  I used this pattern:  Scarf  until I started to run out of colors and then I winged the rest of it.  I didn't have time to go to the store and get more if I wanted to get it done.  He wanted all green tassels.
Here is the picture.

This is my first time posting a project to Crafty Tardis.  I hope I followed the rules.  If not please let me know.

A little help--anyone?
I'm hosting a "Who" -themed RPG (see previous little post somewhere), and was thinking that some cool little favor(s)/prize(s) to give to players (the ones voted best actor and so on) would be good. Anyone here have some ideas worth sharing-- DIY or other?

Thanks!

You there.
How would I go about knitting a dalek dunny paper dolly?

Erm, a toilet paper cosy in the shape of a dalek.

I have a fair idea already, but collaboration is fun. Plus, you're all gonna have ideas and hate me.

Hi there! Could anyone direct me towards anyone who sells brown/blue pinstripe fabric? I'm dying to make my very own Ten jacket but nothing around me and nowhere I've looked has the proper fabric. I would do it myself but something tells me painting pinstripes on two yards of fabric is quite a daunting task. Thanks in advance!

WTMF?? BBC legal threat over Ood knittingpattern
http://www.boingboing.net/2008/05/09/bbc-sends-legal-thre.html#comments
http://www.openrightsgroup.org/2008/05/08/bbc-removes-doctor-who-fans-knitting-patterns-from-the-web/

BBC sends legal threat over fan's Doctor Who knitting patterns.

The fan has not been selling the patterns or resulting knitted plush Ood - just posting home made patterns for others to use if they want.

From the legal threat they received:
“We note that you are supplying DR WHO items, and using trade marks and copyright owned by BBC. You have not been given permission to use the DR WHO brand and we ask that you remove from your site any designs connected with DR WHO. Please reply acknowledging receipt of this email, and confirm that you will remove the DR WHO items as requested.”

Just a few quick questions...
With all the lovely creative ideas floating around here, I really want to get going on my own now that I'm out of university for the year!

I know I have a plain white t-shirt laying around somewhere that's begging to be stenciled on.  Is there a place that all of your prefer to get your Doctor Who stencils from, or do you make them yourself?  I'm horrible with drawing, so it'd be a bit of a challenge for me to come up with my own stencil...

Also, come fall, I will be getting a shiny new room all to myself at university.  This room is fairly big, and I wanted to decorate it in some sort of theme.  I thought Doctor Who would be the best choice!  I've browsed the comm for ideas and found a few things.  I wanted to know if there were any other sites I wasn't aware of that had ideas for decorating your room in a Doctor Who theme.

Thanks for all of your help!  Happy creating.  :)

Adipose T-Shirt/Tardis Card
Hallo! I bought some plain T-shirts at the weekend and had to liven one of them up a bit with an adipose and I recently made a Tardis birthday card for my Who-fan cousin's 18th (that's her in the Tardis)  (the one that is not David Tennant)  - the idea for which I totally pinched from a crafty tardis post by [info]revolutionaren - thank you!

Captain Jack Boots
I hope this isn't something that's not allowed. If it is I am sorry.
I am certain that Captain Jack is wearing brown Doc Martens, what I am not certain of is how many eyes they have. I am figuring he's wearing the classic 8 hole and just doesn't run the laces to the top but I can't be certain.
I am working on the costume for my husband at the moment and we're both stumped. Either his laces or pant leg is in the way on the pictures I've got here.
Any help I would greatly appreciate. Thanks!

I was going to post the link to the ones I think it is but their site is all weird and won't let me link directly to the shoes but if you go to http://www.drmartens.com/ then "products" then to "originals, mens" they're on the first page #1460 8 eye boots brown.

Publicity shot photos?
Does anyone know where I can find good images of past and present publicity shots? I'm going to be a camp counselor this summer, and DW is the theme for my little group, so I wanted pictures to put on their nametags. If anyone knows where I can get good images for that kind of thing, that'd be wonderful...

Renfaire of Rassilon?
So ... my sister wanted a medieval prom dress, and I was taking a metalworking class, so I decided to make some belts to go with it. We were trying to decide what to go in the central piece. I had suggested our family coat of arms but she thought it was too boring. She hasn't seen classic Who, but she's familiar with the Seal of Rassilon from the hat that I made, so when I said I might try that, she said sure. So if going to the prom in a medieval-ish dress wasn't nerdy enough, it now comes with extra Doctor Who fandom added!

EDIT-- wow! I'm glad so many people like this. Unfortunately I won't be able to take commissions for belts like this; I have a lot of projects lined up already. Thanks though!
