I always thought the point of a liner is to hide the raw edges of the outer fabric. Does the method you've beautifully illustrated end up with raw edges on the inside of the bag?

nope, no raw edges coz of step 2.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. I've already downloaded the pattern. Now I just have to find bonded fleece somewhere around here.

you could easily make this into a backpack-type pouch too by making it larger, and making the cords longer. just attach the loose ends of the cords to the bottom corners of the pouch and voila!

excellent tutorial though, beautifully done.

hey, love the tutorial, but how long would you suggest the pieces be in step one? i was thinking of comparing it to some of my books, but im not too sure.. any suggestions would be great! also, what type of material should be used for lining? thanks

Great pattern!

Thanks so much for posting your pattern! It worked wonderfully. I would suggest, if you have thick fabric, not to make the cord-area too snug, because it makes closing the bag a little hard.

Here are the results if you are interested. The fabric is 14 count black aida with a green satin lining.

This technique works great with a folded up bandana, a stapler, and some string. You don't get such a nice result but for a quick role playing game, it works and you can mass produce them!
