I have a question for those who are knowledgeable about bookbinding.
I made a book, and I sort of made up the binding method as I went along... which isn't to say that I wasn't inspired by a few methods I've heard of. I'm pretty sure this method has probably been used before, and I would like to look up some information about it; i.e. pros and cons, longevity, etc. However, I don't know what it's called, and my research efforts have been fruitless. So... basically I want to know what this type of binding is called. I kind of like it, and would like to know if I'm likely to run into issues later if I continue using it.
( Crappy photoshop drawings under cut, and some pictures of the book I made. )
Image-heavy and I do tend to carry on sometimes.

Hi! I'm a long time lurker of this great community yet this is my first post ever. Hah.
I adopted a puppy a couple of weeks ago and though my town is not the coldest place ever (fyi, it's actually like 35°C right now and it's winter!hahaha) we're scheduled to have really cold weather next week and I was thinking of making a cute doggie sweatshirt for my new pup. Do you guys happen to have a pattern for a hoodie-style sweatshirt for small breeds (my puppy is a french poodle/chihuahua mix, he's basically a fuzzy chihuahua though)?
Thank you in advance :)

This year for Christmas i decided to make everyone's presents. Of course, I didn't have time to make everyone's presents until literally four days before Christmas. I will never do that again.
ANYHOODLE--some of them came out really cool and because I couldn't get time off for my grandmother's family Christmas party, I had to wait until my mother could send me pictures of everyone with their gifts. They're under the cut. I'm especially proud of the last one.

Thanks everyone for the advice on the printer issues. I tried a compilation of everyones suggestions and things were working again this morning. Gracias :D
So now that I had a cover, I could finish my little notebook. It's made up of however-many sheets of those old due-date cards, white card stock, and sheets of some technical science-y print stuff that I rummaged out of the bins at the science library. Stabbed into booky goodness.

Okay I love it that a lot of you are participating in One world one heart. That's awesome! But please remember that selling links are NOT allowed.
So if your one world one heart giveaway is posted on the journal you use for selling then you can't post the link to that here.
I've had to delete 3 already :'(
Please feel free to post the info (under a cut if it's long) and a way (like email?) for people to sign up but no links to selling journals/etsys/selling websites.
Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the community and I have to say I LOVE everything that I'm seeing. Damn all you talented people, ha.
I found myself extremely intrigued by the felt looking characters people have been making. Like the tiny phone tag animals and the stuffed cactaur, ha.
I was wondering if anyone could give me a little info on these and what they're made with? I would love to make an attempt at making some myself.
Mega thanks in advance!

But I'm lovin' what I'm seein'!!
I have never made jewelry in my life - I'm a scrapbooker, but about 3 weeks ago I bought a craft book that had examples of collage pendants and I was intrigued. Here are my first efforts.

( another pic under cut )the knee and elbow pads can be removed.
the helmet is decorated with teeny tiny appliqué flames and heart, and is stitched down.
That was probably the trickiest part :]
yeah i know laces wouldn't be like that for speed skating , it just looks cute.

PVC/oilcloth

I was in John Lewis (for those of you outside of the UK, it's an upmarket department store) today and found a wonderful selection of super-cute PVC fabric (sometimes known as oilcloth) with very cute dinosaur, fairy, etc. designs.
I'd love to buy some but I can't think what I'd make with it! It's fairly stiff so would make a good tote bag or even a little zip purse, but there must be more uses for it out there...
Can anyone post pictures of how they've used this kind of material before, or even share ideas? Links to patterns online would also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any inspiration anyone can share!
