Who:Narita Daisuke and Okawa Noeru (cameo by Kikumaru Kai)
When:spans over a few days ^^;
What: Student-teacher meetingand date!
A bird flew past the window, and Noeru followed it with his eyes, a detatched, dreamy expression on his face until the bird was out of view, then he turned his attention to the door in front of him; the teachers' office. He gulped loudly, before sliding the door open and peeking his head inside.
"He... Hello...?"
Daisuke sat at his desk quietly, studying papers from his previous class, while smoking a cigarette. Spotting something move in the corner of his eye, he looked over at the door.
"You came right on time. Come in and have a seat."
"Na--Narita-sensei", Noeru stuttered and shuffled closer, blinking owlishly at the man. "What... What did you want to talk with me about?" The grades, Narita-sensei had said... But he didn't think anything was wrong with his grades... Okay, maybe they could be better, but...
Daisuke gave the boy a stern look. "I consider you to be one of the best students in this class, but...this term paper you wrote doesn't seem to be an example of your best work." He pulled Noeru's paper out from the pile and placed it on his desk. "I'm afraid this will lower your grade if you don't improve it."
Shuffling about again, Noeru threw one reluctant glance at the paper and blushed. Right... There had been so much going on with the volley ball team and everything, he hadn't exactly put a lot of effort into the paper, had he? "Oh... It's just, I've been busy... I mean, I..."
"I know..with your volleyball. I'm well aware." Daisuke took a long drag from his cigarette. "Still...if you don't keep your grades up you might get taken off the team."
It wasn't as if he really was on the team anyway, just a back up, and Ryuichi's faithful servant - not that he didn't worship Ryuichi, he did, even thought that had happened, but... And he was sidetracking again, wasn't he?
"I... I know that. Uh... Thanks, sensei, I'll remember that." He bowed quickly, cheeks flushed.
Daisuke looked at the nervous boy, putting out his cigarette. "Of course...there is a way I can just..'forget' about this bad paper..."
Looking up quickly, eyes wide, Noeru blinked at his teacher. "What? Really? How?"
"Tell me..." Daisuke leaned forward in his chair, his eyes still fixed on Noeru's face. "Tell me...something you've been wanting the most at this school.."
Noeru frowned, nervously rubbing his slowly perspirating hands against his sides as he looked up at the teacher, away from him, down on the floor, and back at Narita again. "I don't think I understand, sensei...?"
Daisuke just chuckled. "I know there must be something you want here...or maybe...someone..?"
"No... Not really..." Again he blushed. And should a teacher really be saying things like this? He wasn't sure, and he was starting to feel a tad uneasy, to tell the truth.
"Oh well..just a question. Anyway. Why don't you come in tomorrow after class for a make-up?" He took the other paper and threw it in the garbage.
Relieved that the mood seemed a little bit lighter now, Noeru grinned from ear to ear, nodding eagerly: "Really? Thank you so much! I'll be there!"
"Good." Daisuke stood and patted the boy on his head. "I'm sure your friend..Matsuya Ryuichi will be glad to hear that.."
Noeru froze, blinking up at Narita. He didn't mean anything... special with that, did he? He didn't know, right...? About that day... Of course he couldn't know. He hadn't told anyone, and from the looks of things, it didn't seem like Kikumaru-senpai had said anything either. Not that the older boy seemed like he talked much about anything at all, but...
"Yea--- yeah. I'll tell him that! Now, I think I have to go home..."
And he slowly started to back towards the door, biting his lower lip nervously.
Daisuke stared. Obviously the mentioning of Ryuichi's name struck 'some' kind of nerve. "Aren't you even gonna say goodbye to your favorite sensei?"
"Ri... Right!" Noeru bowed quickly, so quickly in fact that he managed to bump his behind into a coat hanger right beside the door and it fell to the ground with a bang. "Oh no! I'm sorry, I... Uh... Good bye, Narita-sensei!" He hurriedly kneeled down to pick the coat hanger up again, cheeks even more red than before.
"Don't worry about the hanger, I'll get it." Daisuke was amused at the boy's clumsiness. This Ryuichi person was definetely someone he became flustered over.
Noeru nodded again, taking a deep breath before bowing again and then quickly retreating out the door. Why did he always do stuff like that...?!
Daisuke stood, gathering his ungraded papers and putting them into his suitcase. It was close to his time to leave so why not leave a few minutes early. A thought came to him then..and he smirked. "Say...how would you like to grab some food with me on the way home?"
Doing a double take, Norio twirled around and blinked at Narita-sensei. "Uh... Sure. But I have to call mom first so she won't worry, okay? And you sure that's okay? I mean, uh..."
Daisuke nodded, closing his suitcase. "Course it is. Call your mom, I'm just gonna pack the rest of my shit."
The phone call home was quickly over and done with, as he told her he was staying with a friend after school to do some studying. When he was done he walked to the exit, quickly changing into his outdoor shoes and picking up his bag while he waited for Narita-sensei to arrive.
Taking his suit jacket off of his chair, he put it on and headed for the exit where Noeru was waiting. He smiled at the boy, opening the door for him. "Shall we go?"
The boy nodded mutely, falling in beside Narita, wondering silently just how odd they looked together. Over at the gates that led out from the school area, he spotted Kikumaru Kai of all people, the short boy walking alone, hands shoved into his pockets and bleached head bent down as if he was studying the ground before him. Noeru thought at first that he'd call out and greet the older boy, then remembered that he was in company with a teacher and decided against it. Instead he turned to Narita:
"Where... Uh... Where are we going?"
Daisuke shot the boy a quick glance. "I dunno. Depends on what you feel like eating. There're lots of places around here."
"Anything? Hamburgers? Ramen?"
"Anything."
"Ramen then?" Smiling shyly up at the man, he realized they were soon catching up with Kikumaru, as they were walking at a faster pace than the older boy. Huh...
"Ramen it is, then." He looked forward, spotting Kai walking slowly ahead of them. "Hey...isn't he one of your classmates?"
Noeru shook his head. "No... He's a third year... But I know his name! He isn't in any sport clubs or anything." Lowering his voice, he continued: "They say he's a goth or something!"
"Oh really..? One of those huh..?" Daisuke looked Kai over, noticing all of the jewlery and piercings the boy was sporting, as well as the unusual colored hair. "Um..yeah. All that crap he's wearing just screams 'goth'."
Noeru blinked at the word 'crap' - should a sensei say something like that - and then nodded slowly. "I don't really know him..."
Kai stopped in his tracks and glanced over his shoulder: "If you're gonna talk shit about someone, make sure they don't hear you, okay? Or say it to their face." He glared up at Narita, midnight blue eyes blazing.
Daisuke gave Kai a nonchalant look. "Nobody said I was talkin' shit."
"Right, that's why I'm one of those, eh?" The bleached boy shrugged, turning his back to the couple and started walking again.
Noeru fidgeted around, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as he nervously looked between Kikumaru and Narita.
"Mm..he's something else." Daisuke shook his head. "Why don't we...go another way, hm?"
"Why? Uh... Yeah, sure... I mean... He's not that bad, I think, maybe, but..." He didn't really know what he was saying, so Noeru decided that maybe it would be best for him to just keep quiet.
As they walked down the street, putting more and more of a distance between themselves and Kikumaru, Noeru dared to speak again:
"Do you teach him in any classes, sensei?"
"I've got nothing against him...he's not a bad kid." Seeing the crossing signal change, he took the opportunity to cross the street. "I've got him in advanced english. He's..got an attitude..as you saw...but he's smart."
Noeru trotted after, much like a faithful dog, really, and nodded. "Okay! Yeah, he seems really, really smart! I bet he doesn't flunk any papers, huh...?"
"Eh...a few." He pulled Noeru onto the sidewalk before a speeding car hit him. "Hey...you gotta be more careful Noe-kun."
The angry honking of the car almost made Noeru jump out into the road again, and he turned a flushed face to Narita. "Uh... Yeah, sorry... I mean... Thanks! Didn't see him..."
Daisuke chuckled. "I think I better keep a closer eye on you, Noe-kun.." He put his arm around the boy's shoulders and pulled him close.
Again his face flushed, and he blinked up at Narita, eyes huge. "Sensei...?"
"What?" He looked down at Noeru, who was now redder than it was in his office. "If you're not comfortable with it.."
"I... I don't know..." Really, wasn't Narita stepping over the teacher/student boundry here? Or was he just being fatherly friendly or something? But then again, Noeru found it rather difficult to associate the young, handsome teacher with anything... fatherly. "Uh... The food...?"
"Oh yeah..it's no too much farther." He kept a tight grip on the boy's shoulder. "Relax..we'll get there."
Noeru nodded, still a bit flushed and awkward, but before he knew what was happening, they were in front of the small, rather shabby actually, but sort of welcoming ramen restaurant. He stepped inside and sat down in a small booth, smiling up at the sourly girl who came to take their orders.
Daisuke took a seat next to Noeru, shifting slightly to get comfortable. "So...what do you want, Noe-kun?"
"Just a soup, I think", Noeru said after scanning the menu for a while. "With shrimp."
He gave his and Noeru's menus to the waitress, nodding to her. "I'll have the usual, honey."
"Sure", the girl nodded, her sour expression lighting up for a split second before she shuffled away. Noeru noticed that she looked a little too young to be working here, looked like she still was in High School or something, but whatever...
Daisuke chuckled. "She always gets a smile on her face when I come here..and only then. I think she's got a crush on me."
"Maybe", Noeru smiled, settling back in the seat. "So, sensei... I've never been asked out for dinner by a teacher before... Why?"
Daisuke only shrugged. "Why not?"
"I don't know... It's awfully nice of you."
"Is it weird for a teacher to be nice to his students?"
"Of course not", Noeru hurriedly added, flustered, "but it's kind of weird of buying dinner for them like this..."
Daisuke looked down at the counter. "I see. Do you..think I'm tryin' to hit on you or somethin'?"
Noeru blinked, cheeks beet red as he shook his head. "No, no, of course not!!"
"Good. I never want you to think that. besides I can't afford to have that on my reco--" He stopped himself before he said too much. That was something the boy didn't need to know. "never mind.."
He had almost said something there that Noeru didn't quite catch, and he blinked in confusion. "I'm... sorry if I hurt your feelings...?"
Daisuke shook his head and smiled. "Nah. I just want you to know that I'm not a pervert. I don't go around screwing little boys."
Again with the blush. "I... I am fourteen..." As if he didn't know that already. That was pretty... stupid, wasn't it?
He blinked. "You are? Hell..I thought you were younger. You look it. Ah well. But considering my age it would still be a felony."
Noeru blushed, looking down at the table as the waitress suddenly arrived with their order. The ramen smelled delicious and he quickly picked up his chopsticks after a quick "itadakimasu" and began to eat.
"Well...at least that wasn't weird." Daisuke said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. He sighed, picking up his chopsticks and stirring his noodles with them.
"I'm sorry", Noeru whimpered, shuffling about awkwardly in his seat.
"Eh..don't worry about it, kid. No hard feelings at all." He picked up some noodles and piled them into his mouth.
Nodding quietly, Noeru turned his attention to the food, feeling better by the second as the warm broth filled his stomach.
Daisuke glanced at the boy a few times while he ate. "Good shit, huh?"
"Ye... yes, it's really good! I'm glad... you took me here."
Daisuke pet the boy's head. "Glad to know you're pretty easy to please."
Noeru couldn't help but blush again and he stared down in his bowl, a rather goofy grin on his face. "I guess..."
"You sure do blush a lot." he leaned over trying to get a good look at Noeru's red face. "It's cute."
Cue even more blushing. "I... I... uh... Thanks...!"
Daisuke laughed. "C'mon now! If you duck any lower your face is gonna be in your bowl."
This of course made Noeru snap his head up, and the quick movement made his knees to fly up as well, knocking into the table. "Ow! Oh... Eh... Thank.... thanks, sensei...!"
Daisuke flinched slightly hearing Noeru's knees hit the table. He shook his head. "Noe-kun..you gotta stop being so nervous, huh? You're gonna end up really hurting yourself, and I don't want that to happen." He began to rub the boy's knees.
Blinking, the boy looked down on the teacher's hands, eyes rather wide. "I... Uh... Thank you..:"
"Um..sorry.." He pulled his hand away quickly. "I just..thought that would make the pain go away a little faster."
"Yeah, yeah, it did, thank you, sensei, really... I..." If he could stop blushing, he'd be a lot happier, he thought, frowning at himself.
"Yeah..I know." Daisuke turned away and finished his food quietly.
Noeru shifted around in his seat, taking his due time to finish up his meal as well, and when he was done, he leaned back in the seat, fingers nervously toying with the chopsticks. "I guess I should go home soon.."
"Uh-huh."
Nodding, Noeru got to his feet and bit his lower lip thoughtfully. "I'll... see you tomorrow, sensei?"
Daisuke glanced at him. "You're gonna walk? These streets are kinda dangerous at night."
Noeru stopped and glanced outside, noticing that night had fallen without him even noticing. He did not want to end up in a situation like that again, thank you very much. "I... Guess not. But..."
Finishing his dinner, he stood and left a tip for the waitress. "C'mon then. I'll walk you the rest of the way home."
Nodding gratefully, Noeru fell in beside the man, walking quietly, eyes locked on the ground.
Daisuke pulled out a cigarette and lit it with his lucky lighter. "Sorry about what happened in there. I really thought I was putting on the impression that I was a pervert."
"You didn't!" Noeru shook his head feverously, glancing up at Daisuke. "I'm just stupid..."
"Aw..don't say that. It's natural to be that way around someone who's practically a stranger."
"I... guess?" The streets were crowded and every now and then Noeru got the sinking feeling that people were staring at them, at him, and it was rather unsettling.
Daisuke sensed the boy's uneasiness. He wrapped his arm around the boy's shoulder. "Nobody's starin'. Relax, huh?"
Nodding slowly, Noeru inched a little closer to Daisuke, wishing for them to be home soon.
"Um..where're we goin' exactly? I'm leading and I don't even know where we need to go."
"Just... Follow me?" Noeru looked around, spotting a couple of sky scrapers against the skyline a little to the right. "I live over there."
Daisuke blinked. "You do..seriously..? So do I.."
Noeru stopped, eyes widening: "What?!"
"Yeah...couple buildings over.."
"I had no idea..." His face slowly brightened into a wide smile. "But that's great, sensei!"
He couldn't help but smile as well. The boy's happy look really did have an effect on him. "Yeah..yeah I guess it is pretty great."
"Then you won't have any problems finding your way there at least, right?"
Daisuke looked at the buildings in amusemnet. "Nope..I certainly won't."
Noeru laughed and started walking again, this time on lighter feet, and they soon came a lot closer to the buildings.
"Can't believe that. All this time..and we've never seen eachother." He had to shake his head at the sheer irony.
"Yeah... But you know, before... I would have probably been totally nervous of having a teacher live so close to me." Noeru giggled, looking up at Daisuke with sparkling eyes.
"Really?" Daisuke looked back at him. "I didn't think I was somethin' to be afraid of."
"Teacher's are dangerous." Noeru grinned michievously. "It's just the way things are~"
He shot Noeru a teasing look. "Oh yeah..? You think I'm dangerous..?"
"Hey, I said before~" The boy grinned. "Right now, I don't think so..."
"Well yeah...but I still can be.."
Noeru stopped, blinking. "...Oh?"
Daisuke grinned. "Sure I can. I mean...I'm not some old guy who stays in his house all the time. I like to party and live dangerously."
"That's kind of cool though", Noeru commented carefully. "And uh... You don't have a girlfriend?"
He scoffed. "Who needs chicks? They're all too much trouble, and all they do is take your money."
Noeru blinked, eyes wide. "Oh...? Not everyone does that, right?"
Daisuke scratched the back of his head. "I dunno. I've certainly known guys that do the same kind of shit. Guess I'm not safe with either one."
"I... guess I wouldn't know about either one", Noeru thought out loud, hands in his pockets as he shuffled his way up the road towards his apartment building. They were nearly there now.
"What do you mean?" He looked at the boy curiously. "Don't tell me you haven't gone out with anyone."
And again Noeru blushed. He looked down at his feet, up at the building that steadily grew in front of them and back down at his feet again. "I... Haven't."
Daisuke just blinked. "No shit? I mean..not to rush anything but I'm kinda surprised at that. You're real cute."
"I... Uh..." Noeru blinked and blinked again, the blush deepening - he honestly wondered if he had any blood left in his body what so ever, or if everything had gone straight to his head. "You really think so, sensei?"
"Yeah..I do."
"Oh..." They were almost there now and Noeru could see the light in their apartment, apparently his mother was home and working with something in the kitchen.
He followed Noeru's eyes to the lighted window. "Livin' with someone?"
The boy nodded. "Of course! Mom and dad!"
Daisuke shuddered. He really didn't care for parents. "Oh. Guess I'll leave you right here then."
"Okay... Thanks for today, sensei!" Noeru bowed quickly and headed towards the front door, cheeks still slightly flushed. "I'll see you tomorrow!"
He simply nodded. "Yep...I'll seeya tomorrow."
Waving one last time, Noeru slipped inside and hurried up the stairs to his own apartment, taking a few deep breaths to calm himself down before he entered, calling out: "I'm home~!"
