Went to the Denver show on Friday night, and finally have my voice back in full. Still smiling. It was kind of a potpourri of favourites, with lots of emphasis on high-energy.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the crowd. I mean, whoever decided to light up? Get out of here - the only mood alteration you need at a Cowboy Mouth show is participation. That suggests you're not giving your all!

Really hope they get back here at a venue that allows under-21 to participate - my little sisters are amazing fans, and, well, they have friends who buy records.

Hi y'all!! I recently got an e-mail from Paul with a list of his upcoming shows around the country, and figured I'd pass them along. Here they are, along with part of his e-mail. If you've never seen him solo or even at a Lonesome Travelers show, I highly recommend it!

Hello friends. I have some fun shows coming up this month.
French Quarter Fest with John Boutte and his band, Todd Duke on guitar, Peter Harris on bass and Herman Lebeu on drums as well as Craig Klein on trombone. Concert in the Square backed by Mark Mullins, Matt Perrine and Craig Klein from Bone-a rama as well as my friend Eddie Ecker from Beatin Path on drums.
Then at the Station with Beatin Path the second week of Jazz Fest.
A lot of different ways to hear my stuff played and I'm looking forward to it.
...If you could help by passing along the word to folks you know who might be in the area of an upcoming show I would be most grateful. Just trying to keep playing and singing for folks, I dig scratching that itch.
peace,
Paul

I am PSYCHED! I'm going to see Cowboy Mouth at the House of Blues on February 17th in New Orleans. I've only been to New Orleans to see them during Mardi Gras once, the year before Katrina--I think, and it was outdoors and raining (though still awesome!!). Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the whole show. My friends wanted to go find a spot for one of the parades instead. Bah! Anyhow, I will remain for this show. Anyone ever been to a CM Mardi Gras show? I can't wait!! :D I'm jumpin' up and down already.

Is anyone else planning to see CM on February 2nd @ the 9:30 Club in D.C.? I haven't seen the band since April 2005, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be taking my boyfriend; it will be his first CM show. :)

Also, is anyone familiar with the band they're touring with, Dumpstaphunk?

My husband and I went to the movies to see the movie Eragon yesterday, while the previews were showing, there was a trailer for the upcoming Disney movie Meet the Robinsons. All of the sudden, my ears perk up as I heard the lyrics: "I've never had this much fun.."

I was stoked to hear Cowboy Mouth doing the trailer music for another movie...

Totally awesome show at the 9:30 club in Washington, DC last night. It's been way too long. They need to get their butts up here more often. Anybody else there?

My little sister and her boyfriend were supposed to go and she ended up bailing, which sucked, but I ended up being able to bring two people to their first 'Mouth concert, and man, that was fun. :) It's awesome seeing it for the first time again through someone else's eyes. I may have to make a resolution that every time I go to a concert I buy at least one extra ticket and bring someone who's never been.

I was a little leery of the addition of a woman to the mix, as they're a pretty testosterone-laden group, but Sonia seemed to blend in really well. Different, but good. I wish she'd done some vocals. It'll be interesting to see if she's got anything on the next album.

"Everybody Loves Fred" was a hoot. I was thrilled that they played 'Hurricane Party', as I'd heard that they had retired it from the set list. I was sorry they didn't play either of the two new 'Katrina' songs, but I guess if you weren't from Louisiana, you probably wouldn't know enough of the references. I think it probably would have been a downer on the show unless you could really relate to it.

Anybody know how much trouble Fred got in with the club for giving the underage kid a drink? :) (I noticed the kid put it down as soon as Fred left the balcony, and a staff member whisked it away IMMEDIATELY...)

They need to have an all-ages show in a more family friendly environment so I can bring my kid. You're never too young to be reminded that it's good to be alive. :)

From a Times-Picayune piece on the best Hurricane Katrina songs. The entire piece can be found at www.nola.com:

"The Avenue"

Cowboy Mouth

Sample lyric: "Because the marching bands will roll/I'll find my city in my soul/Because I plan on growing old on the Avenue/And the parades will ride again, I'll see my family and my friends/Because this cannot be the end of the Avenue."

Why it works: Long before it was fashionable, Cowboy Mouth preached the gospel and sang the praises of New Orleans, "the greatest city on Earth." With that city's future in peril, drummer/frontman Fred LeBlanc and his cohorts wrote two last-minute additions to their nearly finished "Voodoo Shoppe" CD. "The Avenue" in question is St. Charles, but it could just as well be Esplanade, Carrollton or Claiborne. Mardi Gras references are frequently fraught with cliché, but LeBlanc's passion and sincerity shine through, aided by a sturdy arrangement.

Available on: Cowboy Mouth's "Voodoo Shoppe" (Eleven Thirty Records)

As bulletined by [info]badgirlnola over on MySpace:

Hey everyone, the contest is more than halfway over and we are back in 2nd place with a big lead over 3rd place team Social Zero. We are having two more vote-a-thons, tonight and tomorrow night, starting at 7pm EST and ending when the last person is too bleary-eyed to type.

As soon as you are available, join in and vote for as long as you can. We've done this a couple of times to great success...as much as 5000 votes an hour when we have 10 or more people voting at a time.

Remember, this contest goes until 11:59pm Monday night, plenty of time for Social Zero to catch up and take the win away from us. Let's rack up as many votes as we can tonight and tomorrow so we can (hopefully) take it easy this weekend and coast to victory.

It's so much fun to watch the numbers climb so quickly since others are voting at the same time.

So come join your fellow CM fans and watch the numbers fly!

[info]badgirlnola:
Hi everyone. DexLa was kind enough to join us over on the CM forum and let us know she and others are part of the cause over here on the LJ forum. I'd like to first apologize to her for the scepticism many of us, myself sadly included, showed her upon arrival. Although it's no excuse as a CM fan for how to treat someone new to the group, things were particularly heated at that moment, and we just didn't feel like we knew who we could trust. We knew the competition was doing something particularly underhanded, and we also knew they had found our message board, so at that point, we weren't willing to put anything past them. So, one last time, my apologies to her, and my warmest invitation to you to join our forum and be part of the discussion over there as well.

The board is booming with posts about all Mouth goings on, not just those related to the contest, so please, feel welcome and encouraged to join in.

Last but not least, thank you for all your efforts in getting Cowboy Mouth securely into the #2 position in the contest. We couldn't have done it without your continued support. Even though we're well in the lead, it's a holiday weekend before us in just a few days, and many of us won't be around to vote. So please consider joining us for our nightly vote-a-thon if you can. It starts at 7pm EST/6pm CST. Last night we had well over 10,000 votes in just a few hours, and it's so much fun watching the numbers skyrocket in a number of minutes, rather than watch them slowly tick away when you're voting all by yourself. If you have additional time to vote, by all means please continue to do so. Right now we feel secure enough to say don't make time to vote, but if you have the time please do. Even though the third place team is very far behind, I think we can all agree, if that team was Cowboy Mouth, we wouldn't give up until the contest was over.

Thanks again for everything you have and will continue to do on the part of the band, and I hope to see you over on the CM forum: http://www.cowboymouth.com/cmbin/YaBB.cgi

Since it's really encouraging when you see how fast the votes add up when there's multiple people voting, a Vote-A-Thon is being planned for 7-9pm Eastern every night this week.

So, if you feel inclined to vote for a block of time, you'll definitely have company during that time! We're back in second place (though only by about 3,000 votes), and Jupiter Sunrise seems to be voting legally again, so we need to maintain.
