| | pissed off | ] | Due to unforseen circumstances I am unable to run the next Cosplay Scotland meet, and as my second-in-command is out of the country right now, I can't arrange someone to replace me, I'm hereby cancelling it.
However, colourtime seems to be hosting her own meet-up in Edinburgh on the 4th. They're meeting in the gardens (...not sure where) at noon. So feel free to organise something amongst yourselves using this community as a means.
I'll hopefully get a meet going in mid August, maybe the weekend after AyaCon. Sorry guys. |

[Jun. 12th, 2009|10:22 pm] |
Being in Shetland sucks. It does, I know D: no cosplayers or anything.
However, I'm coming down to the maindland for summer. I'm wondering if there's anyone living near Ayr or Kilmarnock area? I know loads of anime series, but I'm mostly a Jrock cosplayer. |

| Edinburgh Summer Meet-Up |
[May. 10th, 2009|01:00 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | excited | ] | Hey guys! Long time no see. :)
I'm sorry I've been AWOL for ages, my course at university has been keeping me mega busy and I've barely had enough time to keep up with reading my weekly JUMP let alone think about cosplay meets! But rest assured, we are not disbanded, and we will be meeting again soon. This summer, in fact!
The soonest meet-up I can arrange is Saturday the 27th of June, however I'll be mega jet-lagged that day, and I believe we'll be conflicting with Glasgow Anime's monthly Saturday meet. So I propose that we have our first summer meet on Saturday July 4th. However, I am aware that a lot of our long-time members will be across the pond attending AX in California, so our numbers may be lacking that day. If we wait one more week until July 11th, they may be back from their adventuring with some epic cosplay tales from AX to share with us.
Sooo I have some questions for you guys. Which date would you prefer, June 27th, July 4th or July 11th?
Also, is Saturday still OK for a lot of you, or do you want to move meets to Fridays, or another day in the week? Thursdays even, for late night shopping?
Finally, if you have any suggestions on locations you'd like to visit, or things you'd like to do, please drop them here in comments. At the moment I'm thinking that we could just have another one of our big picnics, but instead of invading the gardens again I'm thinking we could try to go somewhere more scenic for photos. I'm thinking of trying to do something Edinburgh-based though, perhaps a visit to Dynamic Earth? We won't actually go inside, but the buildings around about it are cool for photos. Tell me what you think.
Okay kids, you've got nearly two entire months to get your costumes together. I wanna see MAXIMUM EFFORT, let's have EVERYONE cosplaying to the best of their abilities!! Let's show everyone what Cosplay Scotland really is! Start your sewing machines and get cosplaying!
See you in the summer! |

Hi, this is my first time posting to this group, I was wondering if there were any cosplays in Fife, close to Kirkcady? If so please get in touch with me through private messages or comments here, I would love to meet some new cosplayers who are close by. I have a few reasons why, one being that I know of hardly any, another being that me and a few friends are trying to set up a cosplay group so more cosplayers would be great.
Anyway I hope to hear from people soon n.n
Much love~

| Photographer in town! |
[Feb. 20th, 2009|08:15 pm] |
Hey guys,
If you remember Lewis, the photographer from Newcastle that came up for our December meet-up, then listen up! He's coming up to Dundee for D-Con on Saturday the 28th. He'll be in Glasgow until 6pm on Sunday March 1st and he's looking for some cosplayers to photograph!
If you're interested in doing a shoot with him and getting some nice photographs of your costumes, e-mail him at lewisgreener @ hotmail.co.uk (without the spaces obviously).
Hope you all have fun at D-con, wish I could be there!

Something I've been wondering for a while, so I thought I'd go ahead and ask.
Are there any Jrock cosplayers up here? Any Jrockers in the UK seem to be in England *suprisesuprise*. It'd be nice to arrange a meet sometime for this, but I've yet to find anyone. |

| | Stephen Lynch - Special Ed | ] | Having started back at uni, I have been remided to do this:
So, advertising times. The 28th of February 2009 sees the first ever D-con (Dundee-con) at the University of Dundee's student union. It's an anime/arts con and there are still some free places for exhibiting artists, etc.
Apparently there's been some interest from Real-time Worlds, which is itself Dundee based. But, I'm not sure of the details really as I'm mainly part-exhibitor, part-flyer monkey. All the currently avaiable information is on the website.
Events so far include:
• Opening set by 'Sarah Coloso' • Tutorial Sessions • Movie Screenings on Floor 5 • Cosplay Competition • Collaborative Original Artwork Raffle • And a ticketed afterparty.

| Note of Intrest |
[Jan. 16th, 2009|05:47 pm] |
Hi, don't want to tread on any toes but i though i should at least mention this. In Inverness (yep that city all the way north ^^'), there is the Highland Expo or Hi-Ex for short. It's a comic book convention featuring some big names in the comic book biz, including manga artist Yishan Li (http://liyishan.com).
But to cut to the chase, i noticed that it allows free admission to cosplay or as they put it 'FREE entry for comic character fancy dress.' It runs on the 2nd & 3rd February.
Just though it might be a change of scene for the usual meet-ups. More info on the event is here at http://www.hi-ex.co.uk/home.html |

I meant to post this earlier, not much time left now :P
Anyway: I'm coming to the meet tommorow as Light Yagami. Only thing is, I haven't got a wig. Now, my hair's quite long now (see my dp), so my question is this:
If Light Yagami had my length of hair, would he tie it back or let it hang? |

| December 13th Meet-Up |
[Dec. 9th, 2008|04:28 pm] |
Date: Saturday 13th of December Time: 12:00pm-6:00pm Where: Meeting at Glasgow Central Station "under the clock" from 12pm-12:30pm, then going to venue Venue: Rufus T. Firefly 201 Hope Street, Glasgow, G2 2UW
The venue room in Rufus is brightly lit with white lighting which is great for cosplay photos. The room is clean and broken into 3-4 sections which means that while some people lounge in one section, another section can be free for photos. IIRC, the floor is black & white checks, and the walls are white, and there are black leather sofas. The interior is quite stylish so try to choose something that will match! We also have access to toilets from this room, however the cubicles are quite small for changing. You are able to order food and drink from the bar and bring it to the room. The meet ends at 6pm and we're starting clean-up then because we want Rufus to take us back for future meets!
NOTICE: Because Rufus T's is a bar that serves alcohol, people under 18 are not allowed into the venue. If the staff find out minors are at the meet-up, the entire group might be booted from the pub. I'm taking no responsibility for your friends if they happen to sneak in, don't tell me about it, and don't get drunk and act like idiots. Kthx. ♥
I'll be cosplaying as Gokudera Hayato from Katekyo Hitman Reborn (his red jacket from the OST cover - see here) but with the silver hair I should be pretty easy to spot out. See you on Saturday! ♥
If you are coming to the meet on Saturday, please post here so we know to wait for you and what kind of numbers to expect!
Sorry for the delay in the post. I phoned Rufus last night at 11pm to find out they still hadn't contacted the other party. Luckily because I phoned them in the middle of the day today, sounded very annoyed on the phone and pestered them to do it, they actually got back to me today and told me the other party arrives at 7pm. I've been in class since I phoned though, so this was my first chance to get a post out to you. |

| December 13th - Photographer Visit |
[Dec. 8th, 2008|02:10 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | cold | ] | A photographer contacted me on Cosplay Island and asked me to post on behalf of him;
My names Lewis Greener and im a photographer from Newcastle upon Tyne. ill be heading up to glasgow for your meet up in december and just wanted to introduce my self and tell you about why i want to come meet you. im currently studying the final year of a degree in photography and am working on a series of photos around costume and communities, ive been taking photos of a wide rang of subjects, some local kids who do wwf style wrestling shows, orthodox jews, some local cosplayers and hopefully some of the local foxhunt. basiclly its a series of portraits of small communities or subcultures that share a common interest and their costume defines what that is, and if their relationships go beyond that intrest or not. if anyone would like to know more about the project, my background, see some of my photos or if theres anything theyd like in particular to try and do when im up or on another occasion even, feel free to get in touch, my emails lewisgreener@hotmail.co.uk or send me a message on cosplay island, my user names lewis, hope to see you all soon! |

| meet-up details two posts above! |
[Dec. 7th, 2008|12:26 am] |
Everyone has been asking me specifically where this month's meet is going to be, and I haven't posted up anything yet myself because I don't know. The venue has not been fully booked yet. I've been looking at venues since the beginning of last month but because of things happening every weekend it's been hell trying to see the places in person to see if they're suitable for the meets. I finally got to view them today (when I really should have been studying) and have provisionally booked one, but I need to wait until Monday to find out if we've definitely got it, because the bartender was being lame and wouldn't phone the second party to find out what time they need it for.
If we get the venue I've tried to book (which is really nice, brightly lit, serves food and drink, and has shiny furniature and white walls that are great for cosplay photos), then we'll be meeting at 12pm (NOON) under the clock in Glasgow Central Station. We'll leave at 12:30pm.
However if we don't get the venue we can brave the cold and go to the German Market in Glasgow. In which case we'll still meet at 12pm under the clock in Glasgow Central Station.
Important, regarding the venue: It is 18+ only as it is in a bar. I seem to be under the impression that most of CS are over 18 now, as most of our unders came from Edinburgh and no longer come to the meets now that they are in Glasgow. If you're under 18, please inform me in the comments. I need to know how many of you there are. If there's enough of you I'll cancel the provisional booking for the venue and we'll just go to German Market. Or does everyone just want to go to German Market anyway?
Keep in mind that the German Market is VERY crowded so bulky costumes aren't a good idea, and also because it's outdoors it'll be cold and we're exposed to all elements of the weather (if it rains or snows we've got no where to go). However the stalls there are really cute and great for last minute christmas shopping, and there's some pretty yummy festive food too.
It's up to you, regardless I'll be making a new post on Monday! Sorry for the delay! |

After much worrying and begging, I've swapped shifts so I can go to the last meet of the year on the 13th!
However, just wondering if we can finalise what's being done and such, rather than leave it to the last minute. |

| December 13th Cosplay Meet-Up |
[Nov. 20th, 2008|01:42 pm] |
I'm thinking of putting some flyers out to advertise the next cosplay meet-up. Would anyone be OK with me using cosplay photos of theirs to put on the flyers? And if so, could you please link me to the photos you'd prefer?
I seriously lack ink in my printer right now but we'll see what happens. |

| November 22nd Meet -cancelled- |
[Nov. 10th, 2008|12:57 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | tired | ] | Hey guys,
I'm really sorry I have to do this, but I'm cancelling the November 22nd meet. November has been extremely busy this month and with Auchinawa the week before and the Grand International Cosplay Ball the week after the CS meet, a lot of the cosplayers who usually attend the meets are going to be extremely burnt out. Furthermore on a more personal level, I have family commitments to attend to on the 22nd, and coursework deadline shortly after that.
Once again I apologize. The December meet will go ahead, however. I have a free venue in mind that I will be booking shortly, too.
So please make sure you have December 13th marked in on your calendar. Hope to see you there!

| No October Meet |
[Oct. 16th, 2008|01:14 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | cold | ] | Sorry guys! I should have posted this earlier.
As most of us are really busy rushing to finish our costumes for London Expo, and organizing this meet has been left very last minute, we are not having a Cosplay Scotland meet this month.
However I really encourage you guys to go along to the Glasgow Anime's Halloween meet on November 1st. I may or may not be showing up as I'll be terribly sleep deprived and it's my birthday that day XD It'll be a blast though, because the lovely Tina is running it!
As for November, I'm currently looking into indoor venues we could use for photoshoots during November-February/March so we don't freeze our butts off outside. Because of Auchinawa on November 14th, 15th and 16th, I'm thinking of having our November meet on November 22nd (this way we also avoid clashing with the GA meet which will likely be on the 28th).
Is November 22nd OK with everyone?
And while we're at it, we might as well plan the December meet as well. I'm going to propose Saturday December 13th. Is that OK? |

[Sep. 30th, 2008|09:44 pm] |
Do you guys want to have a meet-up on October 11th or 18th, or is that too short notice?
Also, if we do meet up, where do you want to go for a photoshoot? Will the weather be ok etc?
Get back to me asap~
