One Last Post ~
Good evening, Cosplayers!
E. Gallfrey-Manette here, although by now most of you probably know me as Madja. I just wanted to give out one last post before the day (and my legs) gives out, and to tie up the ends of the WCP 2008.
Wellington Cosplayers' Picnic Acknowledgments
Firstly I would like to thank the Wellington City Council, for allowing us to indulge in our geeky side and have the Picnic at Frank Kitts Park. In tie with this, I would also specifically like to thank Cobi, who did all the work with contacting the Wellington City Council (in particular, the lovely Ms. Rita Francis) and helped actually get us to permission to use the Park in the first place, as well as give us the access to use the powerbox which was connected to the radio that you couldn't hear most of the time.
Secondly I would like to thank all of the other members of the Staff, who helped to create the Picnic as well as help out today with items and things. I believe you already know who you are - Keysha, Rei, Eeva, Mel and -- I think I'll embarrass myself if I try to list everyone down mainly because there were so many that helped out and brought things (like deckchairs) that I'll most likely upset someone by forgetting to write their name. Sorry!! D;
Here's some cookies and a crate of Bolt3 Materia for you all as consolation.
OBTAINED KEY ITEM(S): VIRTUAL COOKIE AND BOLT3 MATERIA CARE PACKAGE.
Also, a really big thank you to the Staff members for the $50-00 Borders Gift-Card!! I really wasn't expecting that so it came as a really nice surprise and it made me very happy ^___^
Thank you~!!
(Also I would like to spare a little thank you to those who helped carry stuff to the car when the Picnic was over! It was much appreciated!)
Penultimately, I would like to thank my own family for putting up with me through all this. They were the ones anchoring my feet to the ground when I was taking off from sheer excitement and they helped out with items like the fold-out Picnic table that we had and the super yellow extension cord. You must spam them with messages of love, too.
Last of all, I would like to thank everyone. Seriously. This Picnic wouldn't have turned out the way it did if it weren't for everyone who came. And even those who couldn't come, thank you to you too. All the Cosplayers who have been in contact with us have been a great motivation to us in the creating of this Picnic and it probably wouldn't have been as successful without you all, whether you came or not. <333
You were all so wonderful and co-operative with us!! Thank you so much!!
(The roaring replies of approval to my "Now, I shall scar you minds once more with my voice!!" was most unexpected to say the least. xD)
Your comments at the end shall be taken into account for next year, and the Guestbook comments were very warm and fuzzy. <333 So here's a present for you in return.
OBTAINED KEY ITEM: WARM FUZZIES
(And actually, at the end when Caddyl told everyone to cheer for us? I don't know about you others, but was so touched, I was hard-pressed to keep from crying. olry? YARLY.)
All that said and done, let us now take a moment to reflect on today - what has been said, what has been done, what hasn't been said (which would probably be best for everyone's sake) and the new friends and cherished memories that have been made.
CHEESE CHEESE MOAR CHEESE. Sorry, my brain has been fried and killed dead by the sun. But honestly, think of today and all the good things that have happened and pray that there may be many more like it to come!!
Now, on the post below mine is "The Amazing Photo thread! Wellington Cosplay Picnic" which
ccc_soshiki has set up for photos. In a comment, post the link to the site where your photos are hosted and he will edit the post accordingly and add your link (with some very witty tags, might I add).
Now it is time for us all the sit back, rest our aching feet, tend to the sunburns and mysterious cuts and bruises I'm sure many of you will have (I have some myself) and have a good, decent night's sleep.
The best way to round off a long, exhausting day for me is to play it out on the Piano. So, I guess I will see you later! At Wellington Armageddon, or next year's Picnic, if not sooner.
Thank you so much!!
Lots of love,
~Madj.

Yeah, it was our way to say thanks <34
*warm fuzzies*
The sunburns and cuts and bruises are worth it:D:D
Yay
Thanks to everyone!!
Thanks for all your hard organization and everything! Hip-hip-hooray!
You ran everything so well, and I felt bad I couldn't help anyone much. ^^;; Watching you all rush around... You guys were awesome.
Everyone who helped organize the picnic needs more praise, as you've all done a really great thing for everyone in NZ- you've inspired us to help breathe life into a floundering, niche fandom.
While I know that it'll be years until cosplay is popular enough in Christchurch for there to be any kind of event like a picnic, I hope that the day it is a more accepted thing to do, I can step up to the plate and be like you guys, and try and do something so meaningful for the fandom.
You guys all rawk, and I hope we have many more cosplay picnics to come.
And just remember, the picnic means a lot to me- to all of us crazy cosplayer-types- and that you are our new heroes.
You'll do an even better job next year. ;) Trust me.
