Hey guys.

So I went to EB games on Cuba Street today to pay off the rest of my pre-order on Crisis Core, and I was told the game was being released on Thursday next week, a day earlier than said.

Just wondering. I doubt it'll make a dent in the plans for the pick-up cosplay event on Saturday as I know it's being held on that day for all those in school or uni classes that day, I'm guessing we're still on for Sat. 21st, then?

I'll still come, I'm just gonna pick up my game on the 19th since I can't wait that long. Panini, you must be a paitent man. X3

Me again~~

Seems like I'm the only one who posts here anymore.... and I didn't in the start >.<;;

Anyway, boy do I have news for you~

On the 20th of this month, Crisis Core is released in PAL regions - which means New Zealand! And I thought that there couldn't be a more perfect opportunity for a cosplay meetup! So, dust off those Turk Suits, re-spike your hair and grab your oversized weaponry and lets all meet!

Since the 20th is a Friday (and thus, people generally have school), I'm suggesting that we meet on the Saturday. So, how does Saturday the 21st of June at Borders sound to everyone? From there, we'll make our way across to EB Games in Manners Mall so that I can pick up my pre-ordered copy of the game (and the art book~~). Afterwards, we can do lunch and hopefully if everyone lets me, another photoshoot-esque thing ^^

Note: this is in no way restricted to those cosplayers who like/cosplay Final Fantasy.
Anyone and everyone is invited! I'd like to see as many people there as possible!
So, what does everyone think, is this a good idea? comment with ideas ^^

Wellington Cosplay Ball 2008

Good evening everyone!

First, I'd like to say a huuuuuuuuge thank you to everyone who turned up for the 4th of May photoshoot. it was so awesome to see everyone there ^^

Second, on the recently created Cosplay New Zealand forums (previously ACP forums), there has been much talk about a Cosplay Ball held in Wellington.

Basic  Information  (so far)

Venue: School Hall of some description
Date: End of November
Dress Code: Cosplay is required. Formal prefferred, but not enforced.
Ticket price: somewhere up to $50 (but not over) Most likely including a dinner, but we're still discussing this.

So, as an idea outline what do people think? who would be interested in going?
I've said that my house can be used for out of towners to stay in for the weekend if need be, and I think U_Ne_Korn has said words to the same effect.

Leave comments with Ideas/Suggestions ^^

Sunday the 4th of May, 10AM UNTIL some ungodly hour of the night. Meet at Borders IN COSPLAY ELSE I'LL EAT YOU. The reason for this is I want to get nice photos of everyone's cosplays, with good backgrounds (and brush up on my photography skills ^^; )

For all those who can come, please leave a message here, on this thread on cosplay.com or on ~purarokai's journal with your character & series so that I can research some good backdrops/poses ^^

Hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Good luck, good luck, everybody!

Hey there, Cosplayers! :D

Madj. here with just a short message for you all.

Armageddon is in just three weeks time now, and I'd say it's pretty much crunch time now, guys! If you're anything like me, you'll not only have costumes or props to fix or complete (or, heck, even start), but also you'll be juggling things like school, maybe work (for you, that is - I'm to irresponsible to get a job yet :P) and also preparations inside the Armageddon walls!!

How many of you are going both days? It'll be my first time going on a Saturday as well, and I'm really looking forward to my Saturday trio cosplay - I'm very excited about it :)

Who are you going as? What should we all look out for? Maybe you'll be the one standing on the balcony railings roaring "Sephy - I am yo' Mama!!" for all to hear? ;D

Remember, whenever you have even five minutes of spare time, do a little work! Do a bit of handsewing, mend some malfunctions - And also, you can do what I did and do a little re-painting on the rubbed-off paint on your SOLDIER belt in your bathrooom.

If it comes down to it, you can also take parts of your costume to work/school in a bag with a few handsewing needles and thread and sit down and work on it! (Any WGC Girls - We'll be at our usual spot outside the library if you want to join us in our epic quest to handsew the rest of our costumes! Remember, for us, Armageddon Saturday is less that 12 waking hours after our term ends!!!)

Welly'Geddon Weekend looks to be pretty busy on the Sunday, with lots of good events like the Lisa Furukawa Panel/Concert (which I am definitely going to see ♥). If you haven't seen the programme yet, check it out here!
If you come on the Saturday, then maybe the few of us that are there can meet and have fun and photos together.

Well, I guess that's all from me for now. I hope I'll be hearing from you all soon!

(Ange and I have a few fun and none-too-strenuous on the cosplay/er things planned for you lot on the Weekend, so we hope to see you there if not sooner! ;D)

Until later!

One Last Post ~

Good evening, Cosplayers!

E. Gallfrey-Manette here, although by now most of you probably know me as Madja. I just wanted to give out one last post before the day (and my legs) gives out, and to tie up the ends of the WCP 2008.

WCP Acknowledgments. Go on. You know you wanna read them. )

All that said and done, let us now take a moment to reflect on today - what has been said, what has been done, what hasn't been said (which would probably be best for everyone's sake) and the new friends and cherished memories that have been made.

CHEESE CHEESE MOAR CHEESE. Sorry, my brain has been fried and killed dead by the sun. But honestly, think of today and all the good things that have happened and pray that there may be many more like it to come!!

Now, on the post below mine is "The Amazing Photo thread! Wellington Cosplay Picnic" which [info]ccc_soshiki has set up for photos. In a comment, post the link to the site where your photos are hosted and he will edit the post accordingly and add your link (with some very witty tags, might I add).

Now it is time for us all the sit back, rest our aching feet, tend to the sunburns and mysterious cuts and bruises I'm sure many of you will have (I have some myself) and have a good, decent night's sleep.

The best way to round off a long, exhausting day for me is to play it out on the Piano. So, I guess I will see you later! At Wellington Armageddon, or next year's Picnic, if not sooner.

Thank you so much!!

Lots of love,
~Madj.

Ok, reply here to post your links to photo albums, I would recommend either uploading to a deviantart or photobucket account since they are browseable by all easily.

I would start off the thread, but I didn't bother using my camera due to it's crapacity.

I'll update this post with the Links and names as they come. Get to it >:O

Just a little reminder...

Hey cosplayers; it seems that we will be having lovely, sunny weather for the cosplay picnic!

I'd like to take the chance to remind you all to SLIP, SLOP and SLAP (If you can!) as we don't want any henious sunburns! :3

Remember to wear sunscreen for the day! Sunburns are pretty nasty! And it might not be a bad idea to bring a tube of sunscreen to keep applying through the day, or even for people who might just forget.

Thanks!

General information for the Masses ans several lists of d00m

Ello thar people~ I see you've stumbled onto our little corner of the 'net.

This is for the Cosplay Picnic 2008, which shall be held on the 26th of January at Frank Kitts Park. If you want to come but aren't sure what Cosplay is, then there's a rather helpful definition here.

If you're from out of town, new to Wellington or unfamiliar with the city, theres a few maps here here and here.
To help you to recognise the place then here's a picture.
This is great for getting directions to the park from wherever you're based.

The raindate for the Picnic will be Sunday the 27th of January. (However, we will hopefully not have to use the raindate. :P

“Rules” )Rules: 1. Decided to come? Post here or email us! We want to have a rough idea of how many people will be coming, and if you have any suggestions we want to hear them!

2. Cosplaying is very strongly encouraged, but you don't have to. Heck, throw something together and claim it's a cosplay! Use an old cosplay, we don't mind at all. Original cosplays are definitely accepted. But please make it somewhat practical as there will be activities. Overly-skimpy or innapropriate cosplays are not encouraged. (Because there may just be children there) Please ask us if you're uncertain! If you're stuck for ideas, dress in a black suit with a white shirt and maybe a tie, bring a fake weapon, do some makeup or scars and be a Turk! In short: If you think it's okay, then we do too. Make it practical and comfortable, and if it doesn't cover a decent portion of your skin, you're better off asking.

3. If you're planning on coming, please bring a Picnic lunch with you, else - you - will - starve! And I wouldn't recommend sharing food with a person you only met two seconds ago either! D': If you forget, pick something up from New World on your way over ;3

4. Please behave well with good manners!. This is supposed to be a fun event, and no bullying or harassing will be tolerated for any reason. Remember, not everyone has the time, means or skills to make a perfectly wonderful costume, so please don't comment on this as we are all cosplayers together. If you start to behave badly, you will be asked to leave. But we're confident that no problems like that will arise at all.

5. Props. Ah, how we love them. Now, these can be made of any material, but if they're made of wood or metal or some similar heavy substance, we ask you to please keep them safely tucked away, and only take them out for pictures. If you want to wave them around make absolutely sure no-one else is in the vicinity. If you want to perform a skit, make sure you know what you are doing, so that it doesn't fly off and hit someone in the head.

6. No alcohol please, because there will probably be people there that are under the drinking age, and we don't want to encourage underage drinking. And for that matter, no drugs or smoking either. :P

 7. Most important of all, have fun!

“Games ) Games and activites:
Battle Arena: We are going to have a patch of ground specifically designated for playfights and turn-based
battles. Remember, no god-modding!

Caddyl's 'Hare Hare Yukai' Dance Coaching Session: There will be a Dance Lesson on the (in)famous dance from ‘The Melancholy of Haruhu Suzumiya’, courtesy of Caddyl!

Photoshoot: Somewhere around midday, we’re gonna all get together and have a collective photoshoot. Everyone should have a go in the spotlight and let out their inner poser!

Skits and Walkons: Of course, these are essential in any cosplay-related event. We’ll have them seperate, so people can have time to prepare for their skits. If you want to be really professional, I suppose you can pre-record your skit onto a CD for the day. ; )

Improv. Games:
Improvisation games are great fun to do - they build confidence and let you release your inner self from those cold, hard, mythril chains of society. They also crack a great laugh. Don’t be worried about being dramatic and making a fool of yourself, because that’s what it’s all about. Most of these are taken from ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’, the greatest improv. game show in existence. Bus-Stop: Two performers sit at a ‘bus stop’ and the job of the former is to scare the latter off by any means possible. Some ideas are to do it in character, to mock your own character (exaggerate a flaw of theirs to ridiculous lengths, mock their stupid hairstyle, their clothes, etc etc.) or just to do it without the character limitations. Do whatever crazy thing your heart desires.

Gibberish:
Two performers enact a scene in ‘Gibberish’ while two other performers ‘translate’ on their behalf.

Hollywood Director: Three performers improvise a scenenario provided by the host or audience. The fourth performer interrupts periodically to provide new styles used in the scene, eg “angrier”, “like you’re completely in love with each other’ etc etc

‘If you know what I mean’:
Several performers inprovise a scene in which they make up as many ambiguous euphimisms as they can, ending with the phrase ‘If you know what I mean’. The phrases used do not always have to make sense to anyone eg. ‘I’ll help you fluff your garfield, if you know what I mean’. Props: With a pile of strange, mostly large and sometimes unidentifyable props at their disposal, performers have to improvise a scenario with the items that they have been given.

Questions Only:
Two performers enact a scene while only speaking in questions. Failure to speak in the form of a question results in the performer being buzzed out and replaced by another performer.

Spacejump:
one person gets up on stage and acts out a scene. Somebody calls out ‘Spacejump’ and the first person freezes. Other performers get on one at a time and improvise a new scene whenever someone calls ‘spacejump’. When someone calls out ‘Spacejump’ after the fourth person the procedure is repeated ‘backwards’.

Superheroes:
One performer is a silly superhero whose name is given by the audience, and is confronted with a bizarre world crisis. The other performers enter one at a time, each identifying the next entrant. A Proposal.

Okay, wait, scratch that. It has just been brought to my attention that we are able to have the Picnic on the 26th, due to some friends up North saying that they'd prefer to go to one or the other, rather than both. This aleviates some of the guilt I was feeling earlier for not quite being able to please everyone.

Also, this coincides quite nicely with a friend's birthday - although, I worry, Caddyl, that your family would want to spend your birthday with you, as I know I would with mine?

Thank you again, [info]pyrohappygirl!

Summer Lovin'

^ (Title header) I actually hate that song. Sorry.

Anyway, the days are hot and the nights are long! And we are still waiting for the perfect Picnic day - one that won't be too hot, too windy or too muggy. One that's just right. Of course, you can't really count on that, so never mind. However, it has been pondered that the date for the Picnic will be somewhere around the 26th of January.

Check out that weather! It looks like Thief Rikku may be able to come out and play after all! Watch out for your treasure and be prepared for any updates that come up in the future. I'll have someone post up a list of the games again with the new renewed ones and I'll also get ready to pack in some music again for the Day.

Thanks for hanging in for so long, and we're sorry about the wait! Please accept this hug as a token of our sincerest apologies.

So, don't forget to tell those who were keen last time that this Phoenix is ready to rise again! ("Objection!" No, sorry, wrong Phoenix...)

Until later~!

Procrastinators like us...

... Deserve to burn in hell.

Hello all, it's me again - Emanuelle Gallifrey-Manette, staff member of the Wellington Cosplayers' Picnic.

First off, I just want to say that we're really, really sorry for putting off the Picnic at the last possible moment, as I know many of you actually did not end up seeing the notice and going anyway (Although I've heard that many of you had fun at the resulting gathering).

I know it's been a long time since anything's been posted, and I hope that no-one has forgotten about the Wellington Cosplayers' Picnic, since we do plan to bring it back up 'soon' ; )

It's Spring now, and we've had a few nice hot days (coupled with some very bad rainy ones) and so the nice days give us a kind of sample of the weather we're probably bound to get in the Summer.

Unfortunately, seeing as how things are, the Wellington Cosplayers' Picnic 2007 will become the Wellington Cosplayers' Picnic 2008 because the decision goes that we're going to have the Picnic either late January or early February, where the weather is the nicest.

But, hey, just like the delayed release date of Advent Children Complete, this is probably sure to mean that the longer you wait, the better things will be. So just hold on for a while, we'll be sure to have things much better organised with fresh new ideas for new games, such as:

- Cosplay Chess
(Not an entirely original idea, but still bound to be quite a bit of fun)

- Battle Arena
(Again, not quite an original idea. Of course, weapons will be padded and/or be stuff like rolled-up magazines.)

- Improvisation
(Improvising random scenarios is geat fun, doncha think? "A Lovers' Spat!!" "SeeD Field Exams!!" "The 'Morning After'!!" ("What??"))

- Battle Scenes
(Let's do it Old-School style :D Bob up and down while the crowd yells out attacks. "Cross-Slash!!" "Renzokuken!!" "Fire 3!!")

... And probably more as time goes on by. ; ) So, that's it for now I guess.

See ya 'round, zo to!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...

Unfortunately, due to our awful weather at the moment, we are postponing the Picnic until further notice. Our raindate is a no-go, as from here it'll only get colder from here on in. (I was wearing five layers, a hat, a scarf and gloves today, and I was still frozen.

We'll probably have it in the Spring or Summer holidays when it's nice and dry and sunny and clear and exams are over and everyone has time to fix up their cosplays. Then it'll be nice and hot and sunny and okay for Thief Rikku Cosplayers (or any Rikku Cosplayer, in fact) to run around and not be frozing. Also, those Claymores will stay dry and those Sitars won't get out of tune from water damage.

Maybe even when daylight hours get longer, we may be able to extend the 4-00pm ending to 5-00pm, because there will be more sun.

Please keep on regularly checking for updates here on the Comm. And if you know of anyone else who is going but hasn't been here, inform them, onegai shimasu. We'll have to do some re-posting of some of the posters with updated information soon.

Don't forget to hang up them Teru Teru Boozus for Spring now ; )

Quick Reminder - Items!

Konbanwa! If this is your first time here, please see the first post.

Also, if you are having problems navigating around the community, please see this post.

Forgive me for not being my usual self tonight. I'm quite tired, for one reason or another. So this is just a quick, business-like update.

This is an item update for those of you attending the picnic! If you are bringing food, make sure you have something to store it in such as a Chilly Bin or a box! Also bring something to eat food with, like plastic plates and cutlery. If you are bringing plates from home, make sure they are named!

Also, remember to bring either a Groundsheet, Blanket or Taupaulin to sit on. It may be wise to bring either the Groundsheet or Taupaulin as well as a Blanket, so the blanket doesn't get nasty grass-stains on it x P

This is a shared lunch - basically what people bring on a plate we will put together with the other food and you will have a "choose what you want" situation at lunchtime. However If you have any food allergies, or are wary about this idea you may bring your own personal food also. Can you please check with us first if you are planning on bringing cooked food or fruit as your shared food item, as we do not particularly wish for cross-contamination to occur.

If you are baking something, make sure that you know the contents of your food item (maybe if you bring an ingredient list) and make sure when you are baking that you wash your utensils thoroughly! We don't want it to end up like that Cricket match where people got sick from eating the food. (In the end, it turned out that one of the caterers had a cold and was handling foodstuffs. The Cricket match never went on because the Ministry of Health had to conduct an investigation. I'll spare you the other stories I have which are similar to these. : P)

If I've missed anything or if you have any queries, leave a comment ('Have your Say!') and I'll get onto it.

Woot

Well after looking things over, everything seems pretty much sorted for the picnic, I think this is all we need left to sort.
Overall Prize
We have alot of people bringing stuff for the prize pack, this is awesome:D. What I need everyone to do is post (have your say!) with what you are bringing to confirm. Ok! (So we know how much is being brought, so I buy a decent sized bag for us to put it all in.)

Edit: I'm changing my item sorry(The pokeball thing didn't work out..)

Oh and another note(unrelated to overall prize): Everything that has needed to be claimed for activities, like rope and balloons, has been claimed.
Please remember to bring your claimed items on the day!!!
