Time
PANINI!!! GIVE US A MEET-UP TIME FOR TOMMOROW! WE HAVE NO MEET-UP TIME AND KINDA, AH, NEED ONE!
Lol! Fail for me. It's 10am, for those who didn't see the time in the comments post.
Ello thar people~ I see you've stumbled onto our little corner of the 'net.
This is for the Cosplay Picnic 2008, which shall be held on the 26th of January at Frank Kitts Park. If you want to come but aren't sure what Cosplay is, then there's a rather helpful definition here.
If you're from out of town, new to Wellington or unfamiliar with the city, theres a few maps here here and here.
To help you to recognise the place then here's a picture.
This is great for getting directions to the park from wherever you're based.
The raindate for the Picnic will be Sunday the 27th of January. (However, we will hopefully not have to use the raindate. :P
( “Rules” )Rules: 1. Decided to come? Post here or email us! We want to have a rough idea of how many people will be coming, and if you have any suggestions we want to hear them!
2. Cosplaying is very strongly encouraged, but you don't have to. Heck, throw something together and claim it's a cosplay! Use an old cosplay, we don't mind at all. Original cosplays are definitely accepted. But please make it somewhat practical as there will be activities. Overly-skimpy or innapropriate cosplays are not encouraged. (Because there may just be children there) Please ask us if you're uncertain! If you're stuck for ideas, dress in a black suit with a white shirt and maybe a tie, bring a fake weapon, do some makeup or scars and be a Turk! In short: If you think it's okay, then we do too. Make it practical and comfortable, and if it doesn't cover a decent portion of your skin, you're better off asking.
3. If you're planning on coming, please bring a Picnic lunch with you, else - you - will - starve! And I wouldn't recommend sharing food with a person you only met two seconds ago either! D': If you forget, pick something up from New World on your way over ;3
4. Please behave well with good manners!. This is supposed to be a fun event, and no bullying or harassing will be tolerated for any reason. Remember, not everyone has the time, means or skills to make a perfectly wonderful costume, so please don't comment on this as we are all cosplayers together. If you start to behave badly, you will be asked to leave. But we're confident that no problems like that will arise at all.
5. Props. Ah, how we love them. Now, these can be made of any material, but if they're made of wood or metal or some similar heavy substance, we ask you to please keep them safely tucked away, and only take them out for pictures. If you want to wave them around make absolutely sure no-one else is in the vicinity. If you want to perform a skit, make sure you know what you are doing, so that it doesn't fly off and hit someone in the head.
6. No alcohol please, because there will probably be people there that are under the drinking age, and we don't want to encourage underage drinking. And for that matter, no drugs or smoking either. :P
7. Most important of all, have fun!
( “Games ) Games and activites:
Battle Arena: We are going to have a patch of ground specifically designated for playfights and turn-based
battles. Remember, no god-modding!
Caddyl's 'Hare Hare Yukai' Dance Coaching Session: There will be a Dance Lesson on the (in)famous dance from ‘The Melancholy of Haruhu Suzumiya’, courtesy of Caddyl!
Photoshoot: Somewhere around midday, we’re gonna all get together and have a collective photoshoot. Everyone should have a go in the spotlight and let out their inner poser!
Skits and Walkons: Of course, these are essential in any cosplay-related event. We’ll have them seperate, so people can have time to prepare for their skits. If you want to be really professional, I suppose you can pre-record your skit onto a CD for the day. ; )
Improv. Games: Improvisation games are great fun to do - they build confidence and let you release your inner self from those cold, hard, mythril chains of society. They also crack a great laugh. Don’t be worried about being dramatic and making a fool of yourself, because that’s what it’s all about. Most of these are taken from ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’, the greatest improv. game show in existence. Bus-Stop: Two performers sit at a ‘bus stop’ and the job of the former is to scare the latter off by any means possible. Some ideas are to do it in character, to mock your own character (exaggerate a flaw of theirs to ridiculous lengths, mock their stupid hairstyle, their clothes, etc etc.) or just to do it without the character limitations. Do whatever crazy thing your heart desires.
Gibberish: Two performers enact a scene in ‘Gibberish’ while two other performers ‘translate’ on their behalf.
Hollywood Director: Three performers improvise a scenenario provided by the host or audience. The fourth performer interrupts periodically to provide new styles used in the scene, eg “angrier”, “like you’re completely in love with each other’ etc etc
‘If you know what I mean’: Several performers inprovise a scene in which they make up as many ambiguous euphimisms as they can, ending with the phrase ‘If you know what I mean’. The phrases used do not always have to make sense to anyone eg. ‘I’ll help you fluff your garfield, if you know what I mean’. Props: With a pile of strange, mostly large and sometimes unidentifyable props at their disposal, performers have to improvise a scenario with the items that they have been given.
Questions Only: Two performers enact a scene while only speaking in questions. Failure to speak in the form of a question results in the performer being buzzed out and replaced by another performer.
Spacejump: one person gets up on stage and acts out a scene. Somebody calls out ‘Spacejump’ and the first person freezes. Other performers get on one at a time and improvise a new scene whenever someone calls ‘spacejump’. When someone calls out ‘Spacejump’ after the fourth person the procedure is repeated ‘backwards’.
Superheroes: One performer is a silly superhero whose name is given by the audience, and is confronted with a bizarre world crisis. The other performers enter one at a time, each identifying the next entrant. Any questions that you have? Got any suggestions? Want to let us know you're coming? Email us at cosplaypicnicnz@gmail.com
Well after looking things over, everything seems pretty much sorted for the picnic, I think this is all we need left to sort.
Overall Prize
We have alot of people bringing stuff for the prize pack, this is awesome:D. What I need everyone to do is post (have your say!) with what you are bringing to confirm. Ok! (So we know how much is being brought, so I buy a decent sized bag for us to put it all in.)
Edit: I'm changing my item sorry(The pokeball thing didn't work out..)
Oh and another note(unrelated to overall prize): Everything that has needed to be claimed for activities, like rope and balloons, has been claimed.
Please remember to bring your claimed items on the day!!!
