Parade soles?

Okay, I'm having a problem. Many and pretty much only fursuit commission websites talk about Parade soles.
What are they? And how can you make them yourself?
I've haven't really seen any tutorials for them or any shoe/sole site that mentions them.
I've worked with latex, so is rubber any different or the same? I just make a cast from clay with plaster and then pour the material in?

I'm asking this because the cosplay fursuit I'm building is for Halloween (Bowser). And as such, the feet have to be for outdoor use. And I also don't want the feet to break down in case I feel I can use it later for a convention. Thanks for any help posted.

Well just thought I'd poke my nose into the community. I'm not new to cosplaying, I got my start a number of years ago at Anime North of 2003 dressed as Miroku, from Inuyasha. I went as him for a number of years, and made a Kohaku costume for my younger brother when he <strike>came of age</strike> decided he first wanted to go to an Anime Convention. I am, however, quite new to fursuiting. I made myself my first partial fursuit, a Mightyena, (you can see it here) in time for Anime North 2008, but it was rushed and was clumsy, imperfect, and damn near impossible to see out of. Of course, having had a taste of it, I know I'll never be able to stop making fursuits. I aim to better myself. It wasn't bad for a first try, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

But now I'm setting that aside as a learning experience and I'm moving on. I've started work on a Leomon fursuit, which has the potential to be either mind-blowingly amazing or horribly awful. I plan to use a bodysuit as the base (I've been having trouble finding one; I've been thinking of looking for some sort of gymnastics retailer, but if anybody has suggestions I'd love to hear them) and building up foam muscles, and then gluing fur on, sewing the seams together. I've never made a full suit before, so this will be... a learning experience for me. My biggest fear is that I totally screw it up.

What you all could help me with fantastically would be suggestions of things to do / not to do working with this sort of costume. And if anybody knows of any prexisting Leomon fursuits, I'd love to see them- I haven't found a single one on cosplay.com or DA, and Google Search keeps insisting that I'm actually looking for Lemon Cosplay. A picture of another Leomon suit would really help me wrap my head around what I do and do not want to do with this costume. Eventually I'd like to work my way up towards working on a Kihmari suit, which would be very similar in structure to a Leomon suit. I'll put some reference pictures under the cut. One day I dream of making a Lion King quad suit cosplay, but that's many years off. I won't attempt that until I have more experience under my belt.

Needless to say, I'm a person with a lot of dreams (and a thing for beefy lions?) who would love some advice from more experienced fursuit makers.

My friend, Mene, and I were playing Silent Hill 2 the other day and I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I'm obsessed now. :D Due to that, and the fact that we're both the same size, we were talking about possibly making a Sniffer Dog quadsuit in the future (I have the PERFECT fur for it!). We already know pretty much how we'd build it, we just don't have the time for it right now. However, it's on my "to-do-eventually" list. :P

So, my question: know of any SH suits already made? :] I've only ever seen one, so far, since most SH cosplays seem to be of either Pyramid Head or one of the nurses.

Just thought of something that makes me curious to ask around...

When making a cosplay as we do, do you start making the body or the head first?

With my current and previous projects, Mewtwo and Moomba, proportion matters, so I've ended up doing the body first, and once that was done, the head, to make sure it's the right size in comparison...

PS: Added some photos of my Moomba post-improvements in my Cos.com gallery.
All photos of it are in my site's galleries.

Okay, so I'm kind of new here... XD; Whoops.

But... uh, yeah, I have two fursuit cosplays completed... Robbie the Rabbit from Silent Hill 3&4 (he isn't good at all), and a Yellow Wizzrobe from the Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker.
The Wizzrobe is made from the foam over balaclava method. It's a lot hotter, heavier, and overall more uncomfortable than my other masks. I remade the eyes, they're fun foam and chiffon-like fabric. The robes are generic monk robes I dyed, trimmed, and added a hood to.

Robbie just brought problem after problem. The original head is much nicer, but it didn't fit as large over my head as it should've. (and second Robbie's head is still too small in my mind) It was also a different colour than the flannel fabric I used for his tail and upper body. I made Robbie #2 two weeks before Ikkicon... and I finished it the day before we left. u_u; His ears are poseable, which is one good thing about him. The fan's battery container broke, so the battery would hang and unclip, and then the fan container broke off. We used bungee cord to hold it in place, but it made the fan jam.

I really want to remake Robbie sometime, since I love Robbie, but I'm only 15 and I have a younger sister who is afraid of just about everything. u_u and she was screaming and crying while I made Robbie... it was just miserable.

I'm currently working on a simulated digitigrade suit of Wolf Link. I have his handpaws, tail, head, and feet done (contemplating remaking those, too), but I have no idea how to proceed on the padding for his legs. Wolf Link probably isn't the best choice for my first fully furry suit, but... I'm willing to work with it.

Does anyone know how to pull off the padding in the legs? I have no idea where to even start... I want to make a mock-up with denim before I cut any fur (I still need grey and much more white) and the legs are the biggest challenge. I'm hoping to have it finished in time for Realmscon in August/September.

Anyways...besides that...I am planning on a Renamon costume for the summer of 2008. This will be my first fur-suit costume ever and I wanted to start as soon as possible since I'm a slow worker. I wanted to know if you could all give me some opinions. Like what to use to make the head and such and how to shape certain parts of the body. Also, what would be best to use for the fur, but the cheapest to get.
I am currently planning my first ever fursuit and was wondering if I could ask for some help. The reason I am posting here is that the character I am hoping to achieve will be a digimon, in fact a human/digimon hybrid of Joe and Gomamon called Jyoumon. But the biggest problem is that I am hoping for the character to be quadrapedial, the main reason that suitmakers so far have steered clear of it. So I would like to ask te community if they have any ideas of how it can be done or know anyone who would be interested in making it?

P.S no limit on when to be done for.

Otakon 2007: Fursuiting

Otakon 2007 Pics:

I just got back from Otakon yesterday evening. Otakon is the 2nd
largest Anime Con in north america, held in Baltimore, MD. It was
a blast, despite some rather negative/unfortunate goings on late
saturday night.

I've been attending Otakon regularly for about 4 years now, and
every year it just gets bigger and bigger. This year was my first
year staffing as well, some interesting perspective. We had a total
attendence somewhere around 25'000+ people as of sunday morning.

My Umbreon Suit was nowhere near completion, so I rolled in with my
Kemono style bobcat. Some friends put together an impromptu Pokemon
Diamond & Pearl cosplay group. We even ran into a bunch of other
fursuiters, doing everything from Okami, Totoro, to Neopets. Some
from the other side fo the country! I love running into Cosplay
suiters. It always makes me happy :D

My Kemono bobcat was well received by pretty much almost everyone.
I could barely move like 5 feet without having someone ask for a
picture :o

Anyhow, I thought you guys might enjoy these pics for any that
either went or were curious about going. Enjoy :3

I CAN HAS BANANA!

Boxplay is all the rage these days...

A combination of 2 of my favorite games rolled into one!

Two of my friends as Lucas & Dawn from "Pokemon Diamond & Pearl"

OMG, it's KON from Bleach!! I was all like "eeeeee!"

The infamous Kilala (from Inuyasha)Quad Suit made an appearance

Squeee!!
