Just for laugh...
Hey there. This is my first post. I found a funny picture while surfing in the internet. I think this is from Christian Dior, but I´m not sure. Anyway, this corset looks so funny, although it´s the famous designer`s creation. After seeing this picture, it absolutely doesn`t surprise me that Britney or Lindsay Lohan wear their corsets kind of oddly as was seen here a while ago. |

Christmas Sale
Hey there. Merry Xmas from Silk Orchid Corsetry. As a thank you to my clients past and present I would like to offer a 10% discount on orders placed in between today and Christmas eve, a little gift to you. I require a deposit to be paid before Christmas Eve for the order to be legitimate and the sooner paid the sooner I can start work on your new Corset. I would just like to take a moment to point out however, that it would be unlikely that I would have all orders finished before New Years Eve, so if you were wanting something quickly please order straight away so I can get started. Please email me at Cassi@silkorchid.com.au to discuss ideas and prices |

Festive red ruffle and Hogmanay tartan samples for sale
Hi, you maybe normally know me as delirium71 this is my business face LJ I was holding back on these samples as I was hoping to take part in a Christmas shopping weekender locally. However the venue has gone into administration causing the event to be cancelled. So rather than them taking up space in my workroom I'm offering them for sale on my Etsy shop. Neither corset has been worn, or even tried on. They were simply test samples. |

Corset Noooooooob
Hello Corsetry, I am a noob seeking your guidance. For the past couple of weeks I have been scouring the internet in search of my perfect corset, but I have not yet been able to find it. I find this strange, because my corset is extremely simple. My corset is black, and has no frills, tassels, beads, bows, or lace. It is plain. It is also low cut in front, and has a low back. I have even drawn you a picture so you can see what is in my head: Why is it that everything I find is decorative? I don't want decorations, because they would cause strange bumps under my fabric, or stick out. I just want a plain, functional corset. I'm certain that they exist, I just can't seem to find them! Here's where I start to wonder, is it possible to get this corset for less than $100? Like I said, I'm a total noob, And in my seraching I've seen a wide price range for corsets, and personally, I'd like to spend as little as possible while still getting a functional piece. So my question really is, what is the best place to find affordable, plain corsets? Or do any of you have a corset that you would sell me? My measurements are 40in bust, 33in underbust, 32in waist, 42in hips. Thank you for reading my post, I will be very grateful for any information you can give me. |

Corsetry FAQ - In Progress
I am working on assembling a corsetry FAQ for my web site, intended to include answers to questions that don't require an entire article of their own. So far the list is short, but I know there have to be a ton of short-answer questions out there. At the moment I am most interested in answering questions a customer might have, but I welcome any potential question remotely involving corsets, be they info a newbie would want, or more informative to someone with corset experience. If it's a question I can't answer, or if the answer is too involved for the FAQ, I will still write it down for further research and a potential longer article later. I'm enjoying writing articles for Fashion Students Online and for my own web site, and as I write more articles I would like them to reflect information readers want and need. I also just wrote an article on corset care and cleaning. Yesterday I received a few suggestions for things to add, and I was wondering if the community would be interested in a post here after I have updated the article. ( The Current FAQ )Thanks for your input! :) |

Researching, can you help?
X Posted to corsetmakers I am researching late 1860 to early 1870 corsets, particularly Skeleton or Royal Worchester. I know some members collect antiques, this is aimed at those who do. If you OWN a corset from this era could you point me to images? Yes I am doing my own internet searching of books, museums, and auction sites. Yes you may private message me if you choose. |

Desert Orchid Designs
Well my corset came this morning and what can I say? This is my first serious tightlacing corset (as opposed to OTP corsets like my three Vollers) and it is the most comfy corset I have ever worn, even though I am strapped in to within an inch of my life! Gone is my post pregnancy marshmallow body, I have a waist, I have a flat stomach, and ooh, I have boobs. It is perfect and fits like a glove even though all I did was email her measurements. I have even been caring for my seven month old son in it with minimal adjustment to how I move and he hasn't noticed a difference. Bethan was a star from start to finish, from the moment I contacted hvr she helped me choose the style to suit my shape, and my purposes, helped me with my busk options, fabrics and trims etc. This will never be the prettiest corset as it is meant to be underwear (currently wearing it under jeans and a skinny rib top). So pictures, well I have one which I will put under a cut for two reasons... I'm a big girl and I am in my knickers. But I am so proud of that shape! |

Interesting corset article from What Katy Did.
I saw this today. http://miss-katie-did.livejournal.com/37494.html?view=16758#t16758I hope you can see it. What Katy Did are a British Shop selling vintage style lingerie (I am a big fan of their stockings). Anyway the writer gives her opinions on how different styles of corsets suit different figures, and basic advice on off the rack styles. Of course she is only referring to the ones they sell, but some nice basic stuff in there none the less. You may or may not agree with her views, but I thought I would share. |

Morúa Embroidered Bridal Corset
I wanted to share images of this long line over-bust corset that I made for a lovely bride few months back.

( large photos )
this corset is made from a fantastic embroidered sage green silk taffeta backed with coutil. It is lined in brocade coutil. Steel boned throughout; a mixture of spring and steel depending on where it is placed on the body. It features a gold busk and eyelets, a front busk protective panel and a boned modesty panel. The trim is silk taffeta and matches the wedding skirt that I made to match. The pattern was drafted from scratch to her measurements.
The fabric was difficult to match because the pattern was placed in two narrow rows in the middle of the fabric and had a large repeat that did not mirror. The embroidery caused the fabric to warp and pull in places so it was challenging to create a smooth corset. I'm very pleased with this piece.
Thanks for having a look!
I *am* taking orders for corsets but you may have a couple of orders in queue ahead of you. Current Mood: chipper |

New Desert Orchid Corset
She came to me on Halloween :) Unfortunately I don't yet have a modesty panel for her *(it's kind of a funny story) so for now I won't be wearing her out any time soon. But goodness, I just can't stop staring at her. *Bethan forgot to put it in when she shipped the corset and then the Royal Mail appeared to have misplaced it when she did so now there's a second one on the way. Hopefully that one arrives. Haha |
