young & kinky?
Ithaca TNG ("the next generation of kink") is a pansexual social, educational and support group for local individuals aged 18-35 who are interested in BDSM. Some of the events we hold include munches, workshops/demos, discussions, kinky gift exchanges and movie nights. Our next munch will be on Thursday, December 10th at 7:30pm at Stella's Cafe (403 College Ave) [ map]. Look for the black stuffed bear wearing yellow rope. (And the crowd of people taking up several tables in the middle of the room!) A munch is a social gathering where you can meet other kinky people in a casual, low-pressure environment. Please dress appropriately (i.e. no fetish wear), and do not bring toys. There is no cost to attend, other than any food or drinks you choose to purchase. The munch is a monthly event. The tentative date for the next one is January 7th. Contact ithaca.tng@gmail.com or join the mailing list for more information. | | Monday, April 13th, 2009 | 12:55 am [niemandsrose]

taking the bus after dark
Hi all. I'm an incoming grad student looking at housing along the #30 and #10 buses, but hey, I just discovered that they stop running at 9pm and 7pm respectively. How can that be? How late is the library open? How the hell do I get home from the library at closing time? (Plus, 9pm is really early for theatre people. If you even go *see* an 8pm show, you'll miss the last bus, never mind being in rehearsal until 11pm.) Are my only options to either live in Collegetown (eew) or buy a car (eew)? | | Friday, March 20th, 2009 | 1:21 pm [richips]

ride?
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone happens to be planning to drive from the Boston area to Ithaca on March 31st? I have to get to an internship at Farm Sanctuary and it would be really helpful, as the bus is a bit of a disaster. Any help appreciated. Thank you! x-posted | | Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 | 4:05 pm [mtvtruelife]

Google Maps finally updates (x-posted)
Google Maps has finally updated the satellite photos around the Ithaca area. You can now zoom all the way in for some nice, high resolution pictures of the campus and surrounding area. Judging from the shots of campus, it looks like the pictures were taken right around Slope Day of 2007 (check out the fences going up around the slope and the stage starting to be built or almost torn down on West Ave. and the still-under-remodeling Thurston Avenue Bridge) Other I found that were neat: --A lonely Hot Truck --An oddly blurred out image of the Environmental Health buildings southeast of Schoellkopf --A pretty nifty shadow of the Thurston Ave. Bridge into the gorge --Barely visible footprints on the Arts Quad What do you see? | | Sunday, September 28th, 2008 | 10:04 am [blondecutie087] |

CSI and Cornell
Did anybody see this Thursday's episode of CSI (the original one)? What the heck was up with the Las Vegas Correctional Facility vs. Cornell University chess tournament?? It was completely bizzarre! I think it's a secret effort on Cornell's part to increase/perpetuate our "hip" image. I mean, they got Method Man to wear a Cornell t-shirt, so I guess they accomplished their goal? | | Friday, April 4th, 2008 | 10:08 am [heart_over_head]

Cut-throat atmosphere?
Honestly, what is the atmosphere at Cornell like? I know a lot of you adore Cornell from your posts and comments, but is it competitive and cut-throat? Please answer anonymously if you have to. | | Monday, February 25th, 2008 | 4:28 pm [michaelmalice]

Campus Asked to Reduce Power Usage
---------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Campus Asked to Reduce Power Usage ---------------------------------------- ------------------------------ The Department of Utilities and Energy Management requests that campus electricity usage be reduced as much as possible until further notice. Although the university electric system is operational and the university is fully operational, the East Hill Office Building and the Library Annex remain on generator power and campus electrical capacity remains somewhat limited. There is concern that the electrical supply will be further limited due to above average temperatures predicted for the next several days. Repairs to the substation equipment that failed are still underway. The work is expected to be completed by Friday afternoon, October 5. A return to normal operation of the Cornell electric system is tentatively scheduled for 6:00 AM Saturday, October 6, 2007. This should not result in any significant disruption in the electric supply. Please conserve energy by turning off equipment such as window air conditioners, computers, copiers, printers and lights when not needed and keep blinds lowered to reduce direct sunlight. This will not only save energy but will also facilitate the smooth return to normal operation of the electric system. Updates to this information will continue to be posted at http://cuinfo.cornell.edu/SpecialConditions/ Please monitor the site for any updates or changes in the status of the electric system, planned or unplanned. Thank you for your cooperation. This information posted: 2007-10-04 14:39:31 0 For the latest information, see <http://cuinfo.cornell.edu/specialconditions/> |
