| Sexy Spring III - This Weekend! |
[Jun. 6th, 2006|10:42 am] |
Sexy Spring III is this weekend at Blegen Hall, on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota.
What is Sexy Spring? Sexy Spring is a radical, sex and body positive skillshare that addresses the many ways in which sex, gender, relationships, our bodies and our choices impact our lives. Our goal is to foster understanding and support of diverse experiences and to encourage self-exploration and growth. Sexy Spring is art, performance, discussion and education created by people from many different communities coming together and sharing their knowledge, creativity and strength.
Sexy Spring includes FREE educational events, an art exhibition at the Belfry Center, and a Saturday night Cabaret and dance party at Patrick's Cabaret.
Sexy Spring is run entirely by volunteers and supported by generous donations of time, materials, facilities, and money. Please give what you can at the conference and events!
Where can I get more information? Check out the Sexy Spring website for all kinds of information, including maps, the workshop schedule, and a message board.
What else is going on besides the educational events? The amazing Cabaret on Saturday night at Patrick's Cabaret will include song and dance, drag, spoken word, and more ($15 at the door, give what you can, no one will be turned away)!
The Sexy Spring art show is currently on at the Belfry Center in South Minneapolis, check it out Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4-8 pm and Saturdays from 12-4 pm. Also, come to the Sexy Spring art show potluck on Friday, June 9 at 8pm for a chance to meet the artists and mingle with fellow Sexy Spring attendees. The show will close June 15, so make sure to visit soon!
How you can help Sexy Spring still needs all of the volunteers we can get to help serve food, set up for the Cabaret (and clean up after the dance party), serve as safer space "vibes watchers" during workshop sessions, lead children's activities, and more. Please contact us at info@sexyspring.org if you can help, or simply show up and we'll put you to work! |

| Live BiCities! Tonight |
[Sep. 12th, 2005|01:07 pm] |
From Bill Burleson:
Hi there--
Reminder: BiCities!, the worlds only bi community TV show, is going out live this MONDAY evening, 8-9pm, on channel 16 (not its usual channel of 17) in Minneapolis. This is a big deal! I know many folks won't be able to watch, but if you can, I'd sure encourage you to call in live on the air with your questions and comments. It'd be a huge success if the world can see an active, loud community out there, and if no one calls, that'd really suck, won't it?
Here's the phone # to call 612-331-8578.
Looking forward to hearing from you!-- --bill |

| Heather Corinna Art Show |
[Aug. 4th, 2005|12:40 pm] |
Sunday, August 7th 7PM - 10PM (guests may remain until 2) @ The Independent (2nd floor, Calhoun Square, Lake and Hennepin)
Eighteen photography and mixed-media pieces from women's sexuality activist, educator, artist and author Heather Corinna, showing through September 7th.
Thrills! Chills (okay, so it's a little warm for those)! Spills (cocktails will be en masse, thus this one's more likely)! Creative networking a'plenty! Political EST therapy! Much furtive asking of sexuality questions on the sly! Queers and feminists falling in love, even during the Bush administration! A chance to finally get a coherent sentence out of Heather after the grateful end of months of book revisions, too many cross-country red-eye flights and way too much coffee!
If you only get to make one arts event in Minneapolis this month... well, see Le Tigre or Rickie Lee Jones. But if you can go to TWO, by all means, come to this one!

| Sexy Spring (5/27/05 - 5/29/05) |
[May. 20th, 2005|10:30 am] |
Hello!
Sexy Spring (http://batannex.org/SShomebase.htm) is just around the corner, and we can't wait, we're so excited.
The SEXY SPRING is a collaborative project of the Minneapolis-based collectives, the Bat Annex and the Toolshed. The project is designed to be
* a springboard for ongoing radical sex education & discussion, * a way to foster positive sexual health, and * a way to make & learn new blueprints for relating and communicating
It consists of three days of free workshops, put on by members of many sex-positive communities including mono- and bi-sexuals, GLBTQ, genderqueer, leather, and poly folk. If you're alive and like sexuality and health, you should be a part of it.
OUR ROLE
We will be hosting a party at the studio on Friday night, May 27. There will be some play, but it's intended more as a cocktail and meet-and-greet.
We will also be doing various workshops over the weekend.... stay tuned and we'll keep updating! |
