where to begin...
I just joined this community today. I'm not really used to talking about what I believe, nor am I the sort who feels compelled to convert anyone. It may be that I'm a little out-of-place. I forget exactly how I stumbled across
revxaos' statement of beliefs, but they echo many things I believe, m'sef. That's one of the reasons I joined.
I don't consider m'sef eloquent, or even particularly articulate, when it comes to explaining abstracts. This has the end result of making me appear a bit eclectic in my beliefs, as I look to the universe, and others' descriptions of it/God/Goddess/gods, to help illustrate my own feelings/beliefs. To wit, a friend of mine once said, "God is a multiple personality..." and I held onto that, since it made sense to me on a deep level. Not only am I a multiple, m'sef, but I also hold to the idea that all that is, is a part of the greater whole... the All that Is. I also believe we "get the God we deserve;" that God is truly ineffable, and so we perceive only facets of the truth... the ones that we can most identify with, on some level.
My beliefs are also somewhat fluid, in that I can't always pin them down, even with a world of others' words to borrow, and a few of mine thrown in for good measure. In one sense, I believe in Universe as God, yet at the same time, I believe in both multiverse, and in the idea of "if this universe/multiverse began, then then it/they must also end," and that, like the dreams of Brahma, this universe is but one of an infinite string or loop... a bracelet of universes on the wrist of God, if you will. So that all we see is God, but that there is much more that we cannot ever hope to see from this current perspective.
I also believe that modern myth telling and science have a place in my spirituality. Authors such as Neil Gaiman and Neal Stephenson sit on my shelf alongside the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Necronomicon, and books on ritual, the qabbalah, paganism, chaos math, global warming, and Schrödinger's cat. If you look at it as such, breathing can be seen as an act of communion with the Divine. I believe the truth is where you find it; some truths are repeated in different languages, different places, different times. Your truth may not be mine, even if we are describing the same elephant. YMMV.
I could probably ramble on indefinitely, but it would be just that: rambling.
