Help From the Locals
Are any of the Californians (or anyone driving to C* for that matter) bringing a travel steamer? I have one, but would rather not bring it as I am over packing as it is. Current Mood: hopefulCurrent Music: Seal-"Crazy" | 4:05 am [ferroelectric]

*Booze call*
Hey, while a lot of us have *talked* about bringing booze, no one has actually put up a booze call.* So I'll start. Les'see: scotch - Dalmore 12 and Mark, John, & Robbo's "The Rich Spicy One"; some kinda straight rye (mmmm, rye & peppermint schnapps, tasty); a couple of CA zins (ok, wine, but it's still alcohol and someone will kick my ass if I don't); and the rest of my Tecate so I can clear it out. Next! *Unlike the last goth-infested ship I clambored aboard, I don't have to stand by the side of the ship before embarking, on the day after my 40th birthday, handing out shots of 30 y.o. scotch because *this* line seriously checked. Grrrr.... | 10:05 am [marchenland]

Volunteer update!
So, it looks like everything is squared away, for the most part! There are a few slots open, but I think they will be filled by the old "Grab and beg," method. No, this is not one of djwookie's mating rituals(1); it's the tried and true part of C* wherein if you need help, you grab the nearest person and say, "Can you help me move THAT box from HERE to THERE?" And, usually, it ends up as a moving party, with drinks at the end. And people wonder why we go to this thing? (2) *** Volunteers, I can't tell you how pleased I am to have your help. Please note your commitment, and try to show up ~10 minutes before start time to get oriented. Also, please don't get loaded before your shift, especially if it involves lifting, dealing with fire, dealing with money, etc. I'll be bugging you all for phone numbers where I can contact you, as well. *** At check-in, there will be a list of "Stuff With Which We Could Use Your Help." Even if you can't commit to a slot, perhaps you'll be moved to cook at the BBQ, stick around and help clean up after the evenings' events, move some boxes for the vendors, or just lend a hand here or there. *** (1) Well, ok, it is. ;) (2) This and because hey, sexy goths! And hot rivetheads. And pretty punks. And charming deathrockers. | 6:36 am [aeval_tuatha]

I have a laminate if anyone wants it....
I won't be attending for various reasons so I'm definitely willing to part with it so someone else may have the time of their life. Let me know and we'll discuss transfer. ~Kittie Current Mood: contemplativeCurrent Music: War Tapes -- Dreaming of You | | Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 | 9:39 pm [ladyclayton]

C15 - BOO! spooky special announcement
We’ve been sitting on this for a while, waiting on one last detail, but we are very excited to announce… An Exclusive Late Night Queen Mary Ghosts and Legends TourThe Queen Mary is famous (or should we say infamous?) for the paranormal activity that takes place on board. During this late night tour exclusively for C15 attendees, you will explore parts of the ship not accessible to the general public, learn about the Queen’s mysteries, and maybe even experience paranormal phenomena! We’re sure that the ghosts will not be able to resist making a appearance for such a gorgeous group of goths. This extraordinary experience will be offered twice during the weekend: Friday, July 17th – 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18th – midnight Tickets are $20.00 per person, and space is limited. To reserve your spot, email Shannon at shannon@convergence15.com and indicate which night you would like to tour. Your name will be placed on a list that will be given to the Queen Mary, and you can pay for your tour when you check into the hotel (or, if you are not staying at the hotel, you can pay at the registration desk). | 9:13 pm [northpolejo]

Need laminates?
Yes, I bought them from a lovely person here aaand my roomie (finally found one!) isn't up for the laminate events. Plus we have conflicts. Sigh. So they're back up for grabs. Anyone miss the deadline to buy them? Current Mood: hopeful | 6:35 pm [lil_m_moses]

Group Tours?
Was there not enough official interest in the Queen Mary ghost tour, the aquarium, and the soviet sub tour to inquire after group rates? I'd love to join a group outing(s) if they're already in the works; otherwise I'll just try to work stuff into my personal schedule. | 1:09 pm [marchenland]

Volunteers, again!
If you spoke up, I've sent you an email or a message on here (if you don't have an email listed on your profile). Please check that you receive the email and, if not, please contact me: madelyn at gothics dot org. ETA: in some cases, I used your LJ addesss -- username@livejournal.com. That SHOULD go to your registered email, but one person has already contacted me and said they didn't get it, so please ping me if this is the case. I still need people. Here's a list of critical slots: MOST IMPORTANT: Sunday 10-5 (1 or 2-hour increments) -- Colleen needs someone to help her out during vending. VERY IMPORTANT: 2 people for vendor load-in (3-6) on Friday and 3-4 more for vendor breakdown (5-6) on Sunday. Friday -- I still need a couple for check-in/swag, and 4 for breakdown / cleanup after the evening event. Saturday -- I could use someone to help Colleen during the Bazaar. If you could do it Sayturday but not sunday, let me know, because I have myself scheduled for much of Saturday and would move to Sunday instead, if needed. I also could use a few more BBQ set-up people, a couple more BBQ cooks, and 3 or 4 more clean up people for after the BBQ. Sunday -- I could use 3 more AV people at noon, and 4-6 for cleanup after the evening event. | | Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 | 10:38 am [marchenland]

Volunteer FYI
Hey, y'all! thanks so much for the offers to help! Trust me, you'll all be included. I have roughtly 20 responses, so we still need bodies, brains, and brawn. Mmmm...braaaains... *ahem* If I haven't pinged you back yet it's 'cos I am still working up the schedule. So far, we still need help in every area except *maybe* check-in on Friday and sound setup (who knew that all goths have stagehand experience? It's all the black clothing, isn't it?). As an awesome note, I have a volunteer who is attending her first Convergence this year, and her email made me so glad. She sees this as a way to meet people. And honestly, she couldn't be more right. Despite attending C*s since C5, I still meet more people when I'm helping out than any other time, and I meet new awesome people every year. I've never been an official volunteer before, but I've still ended up hoisting, stuffing, breaking down, and setting up most years, and while it's definitely work, it's fun because 1) you're with people you like and 2) you're doing it to make the party better for yourself and for everyone else. I know this isn't for everyone, but even if you've never volunteered before, trust me when I say, it won't ruin your weekend; it will probably make it better. And as someone wiser and cooler than me mentioned, we have volunteers to help keep the costs down. | | Monday, July 6th, 2009 | 11:36 pm [marchenland]

Volunteers still needed!
Hey, everyone! I've had a few bites, but we need more! As usual, Convergence can't happen without the help of you, the attendees. I have received the following needs from the committee, and hope we can all step up. Most spots will involve only an hour or so of work, or less if we have more hands; some will be 2-hour slots. I'll endeavor to keep couples or friends together for their slots, and for most of them, you don't need to be strictly sober (although "not sloshed" is probably a necessary requirement). There are at least 50 slots here; more if someone can only commit for a shorter period of time. Please step up and help make this party even better. Thanks so much in advance! Feel free to respond here or email me directly at madelyn gothics dot org. FRIDAY 3-5 volunteers to help with vendor room load-in (3-6 pm) 4-6 volunteers to help with check-in/swag (3-5 pm) 3 volunteers for tech set-up in Verandah Grill/Sun Deck Stage (5-6 pm) 3-4 volunteers for breakdown after evening event SATURDAY VENDORS ROOM -- Both days, we need someone to be WITH Colleen at all times and make a “lunch run” for vendors. Details pending. 2-hour shifts probably. BBQ 4-5 pm – need about 8 volunteers to help committee members with set-up 5-8 pm or so – need about 5 volunteer chefs to man the grills. 9:30 – 8 volunteers to help clean up by 10pm . SUNDAY VENDORS ROOM -- Both days, we need someone to be WITH Colleen at all times and make a “lunch run” for vendors. Details pending 12 pm – AV equipment for band will be delivered. We will need some volunteers to help set this up. Details pending. 4 pm – 2 volunteers to help set out centerpieces 5-6 pm – 5 volunteers to help break down the vendor room 1 am – an appropriate number of volunteers to help break down their equipment and help clean room of centerpieces/scan for lost and found | 8:17 pm [deathslittlesis]

Clothing Swap?
Crossposted to gothconvergenceIt was suggested to me by dali_muse that I organize the traditional a.g.f. clothing swap since no one had announced one yet. We have space, and a tentative time of 2-3pm on Saturday. I just wanted to be sure that more than 2 of us were interested. If so, then please respond (sizes and what you would like to swap for/away would be a bonus). Gillian (formerly Delirium on agf) | | Sunday, July 5th, 2009 | 5:37 pm [ladyclayton]

C15 is now less than two weeks away! YAY!!! We are pleased to announce the menus for the Saturday beach party and Sunday formal dinner/dance. Please review the menus carefully. If you have any dietary restrictions with regard to the Sunday banquet (food allergies, kosher, etc.), please email us at captains@convergence15.com by this coming Friday (July 10th) so we can make adjustments to your meal. If you specified the vegetarian option when you bought your C15 laminate, we already have your meal request, and you will receive a vegetarian meal ticket when you get your laminate. SATURDAY BBQ MENU hamburgers hot dogs veggie burgers ranch dip Gala’s crack dip potato chips fresh vegetables water assorted soft drinks beer wine (white and red) spirits (vodka and rum)

and (of course) a cash barFUN FACT: In addition to supplying us with Dark and Stormys, the Queen Mary is creating a couple of special cocktails just for Convergence 15! One such drink is the AGSF. The other drink is a surprise (teehee!). Also, to celebrate Convergence being on a boat, the Queen Mary will pay tribute to our group with semaphore flags at the front of the ship. Nifty! Watch this space for additional newflashes between now and C15. See you SOON! | | Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 | 1:18 pm [trystbat]

fashionable ladies needed
Going to C15? Love dressing up in gorgeous goth gowns? The Moonlight Promenade Fashion Show needs a few more models. Specifically, five females, at least 5'7" tall, about a dress size 2-4 (I have dress measurements). No previous experience is necessary -- you just need to come to our dressing area by 3pm Friday afternoon to get ready, do your hair & makeup however you prefer, & then walk across the stage. The show starts at 6:45pm. After the show, you return the dress & that's it! Easy & fun. You'll show up in lots of people's C15 pix :-) Please contact me asap at fashion(at)trystancraft(dot)com. Thanks! | 12:51 pm [deathslittlesis]

Friday Question
Excuse me if I missed this, I tried to find it myself before I asked. Is there a timeline posted anywhere for the events Friday night? I'm trying to figure out if it is physically possible to go to the BPAL event in the Valley without missing the fashion show, etc. Thank you! |
