awww. AND ANOTHER EPIC A-CHAN WINK! YEAH!

Today i would like to discuss something with you and have your though about a particular detail... 

You all like the work of Yasutaka Nakata here... Capsule, Meg, Perfume etc etc.... 

Nakata is most of the time credited as "Everything", in japan "Producer" or "Sound Producer" mean most of the time a person who compose music, design sound, create and mix the music... so allmost everything... (it can happen that "Producer" is someone who act like a Consultant but its less often... ).

 

With that in mind, how do you feel about Nakata Home Studio.... 

He dont have much gear and do almost everything inside "The Box"... his setup is kind of cheap, i would say the most expensive thing in it is HIS CHAIR... (really lol ).  

That room is around 4m x 3m, Benefit of some accoustic treatment, and a small "one person" recording cabin. 

Yasutaka use mainly (if not ONLY) virtual synthesizer running in his computer with Cubase5. He does have a good preamp for his Microphones, and an ADAT that probably stay there for the cute lighting it got lol. 

He could have some dsp card in his computer but i think he doesnt... i never saw on his screen (tv documentary, interviews etc etc...) any plugins that look like TC ELECTRONICS, UAD or something like that running...

 

So i Wonder how you feel about that... do you think like : 

 

A) Great He can make good music without a million dollar setup ! 

B) He should use more money for music and less for Fashion Cloth ! 

C) then i can buy same setup and do better !  lol 

D) something else... please tell us :) its interesting... 

 

Peronnaly i thinks its good that peoples like his music that he make in that studio :) But i think it would be good he use some money to improve his setup... often his mix are a little hard on high frequency and Harsh sounding... it would be good that he mix on something else than 20 years old Yamaha NS10 :) lol and add some REAL analog synth for a smoother mid and low end...

I also think he is running "Circle" a little and having new source of sound (synth, or something) could help diversify a little his sound instead of going back so often to Ni soft synth (i feel mostly he use FM8, PRO 52 and mASSIVE). 

 

But i dont say that as a bad thing... sometimes peoples say about producer "all his work sound same", somehow thats a "QUALITY" for a producer to being able to make many things and always keep his signature in it...

Seems Crystal Kay is the next ~famous~ singer to have a single produced by Nakata. The song, which will be the ending theme for the new "Jungle Taitei" (also known as "Kimba" in the US) anime is called "Step by Step" and can be heard starting September 5th, 2009 on the show.

Not a big CK fan (loved "Kirakuni" and any song she collabos with JESSE on) but I can't wait for this. :D

As usual, I loved it. I don't care if MEG isn't the best live singer I just really love her energy and on-stage personality.

My best moment of this Japan expo it was when I have met MEG after her Show ! I was looking for her behind the scene and I have found her dressing room ! we knocked to the door and she came ! My boyfriend who is half japanese speak to her, and explain that I'm fan and I wanted to congratulated her. She was very surprised and happy, I speak in english, I said that her show was great and I hope that she will come again in france for a full concert ! She said that she love france and she hope to make an other concert her !
She was very cute, more beautiful than on pics and very natural!
My boyfriend speak to her, in a very fast japanese, about coming concert(so I didn't understand lol), she was attentive, then she said that it better if we write to his producer ! finally she said in few hours she will take a plane for tokyo !
She thanks me and take my hand, we said "bye bye", I leave her and...I bursted out, I was sooooo happy ! and I'm sorry for dungbrains and petitpoisbleu they couldn't meet her :s

So, Perfume's newest album "Triangle" has been leaked.
For those of you who are pirates and have had the time to listen to it, what are your first impressions?
How does it stand compared to "their" other work. Also, ignoring their older work, how does it stand on it's own?

Have anyone noticed the song "edge" has "borrowed" a bassline from Chemical brothers?

My thoughs?
Judging by the previews i was kind of skeptical, but after listening through it all, i think it's alright. Not awesome, new or original but fun and entertaining.
The only thing that bothers me is that i cant tell the singers apart. It just sounds like 1 singer with chorus.

Just wondering, has anyone been to Nakata's monthly event FLASH!! at club asia?? It's held the first Friday each month, and I went yesterday for my birthday X3 It was a pretty interesting experience, so thought I'd post about it here~

hey! recently started using livejournal...anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys had ever heard of an obscure Nakata unit called NAGISA COSMETIC. it was formed between Ichikawa Nagisa (a famous Japanese street fashion model/designer) and Nakata himself. apparently they were friends and decided to team up to make a mini-album. they intrigued me quite a bit, so I decided to look for their songs.

when I finally found their music, I was impressed! they (well, she, really) sounds a lot like a less warbly, "cleaner" (in a musical sense of the word) version of MEG, and the music is actually some of his best! if you haven't already heard of this group, look for their mini-album! their best songs were definitely "C.o.s.m.e.t.i.c. music" and "Cosmetic Happy". the production is definitely the more lounge-y, upbeat shibuya-kei Nakata used to be known for, and it's great.

I was also wondering if anyone knew what happened to this group? I can't find anything new on Ichikawa and their website on contemode doesn't work anymore...did she go full-time fashion and abandon music? did she have a sex operation? did she die? the question is killing me, because without a doubt, this is some of the most refreshing work I've heard from him.
