In case you haven't heard, Constantine is now starring in the broadway musical Rock of Ages. He originated the role so he is the first former American Idol contestant to be eligible to be nominated for a Tony Award. I was fortunate enough to see the show twice off-broadway and just saw the broadway version last Saturday. They made some great improvements to what was already a fun show.

Everybody Loves Constantine

Constantine Maroulis, the most famous flirt on `American Idol', talks
about joining `B&B', his love life and his first CD

Here's looking at you, Constantine Maroulis
When Constantine Maroulis delivered the Queen classic "Bohemian
Rhapsody" on the 2005 season of American Idol, that long stare,
adventurous hair and earnest demeanour seduced women for life. It's
one of the reasons why The Bold and the Beautiful offered the
unconventional yet hip crooner a role as a fictionalized version of
himself on the world's most-watched daily drama.

As Constantine Parros, Maroulis is in a unique position of living out
his real life in front of millions of viewers each day, while getting
paid to do what he loves most: play music and woo women
simultaneously!

Having come off a successful stint on Broadway's The Wedding Singer,
the Brooklyn-born, New Jersey-raised hunk is pulling double duty as a
soap star, while he tours the country performing songs from his first
self-titled album Constantine, in stores now through his own label,
Sixth Place Records.

His highly anticipated single "Everybody Loves" made its première on
B&B, and has helped the single gain awareness and buzz
(unfortunately, Simon Cowell was not available to give his two
cents).

TV Guide spoke with the soft-spoken rocker to find out how long he'll
be on the soap, if he's dating anyone special and why he can't love
without music and acting.

TV Guide: Welcome to daytime. Is it surreal playing a slightly
fictionalized version of yourself?
Constantine Maroulis: It's interesting because growing up as an actor
and studying at the Boston Conservatory of Music, my teacher would
always say, `It's not acting if you're playing yourself.' I try to
make choices that differentiate the real-life Constantine from the
faux Constantine, but in soaps and TV, fans don't mind seeing a part
of the personality they've grown fond of. In theatre, it's different;
no one wants to see real-life on stage. The character is modeled
after me, so that in itself is a compliment, so I have to make sure
I'm playing what's on the page even if it does or doesn't resemble
me. B&B is such a longstanding show — and when the Bell family gives
you a call, you take it no matter what the character is.

TVG: You signed a 13-week contract, but from what Bradley Bell has
told me he'd like it to be an open-ended gig. Would you consider
staying on full time?
CM: We're in the middle of working it all out. I'm airing into next
month so far. I'd love to stay, if it can all work out. I'm open to
recurring or whatever. I love the show.

TVG: While your chemistry with Mackenzie Maury (Phoebe) didn't
necessarily set the show on fire, I see sparks igniting already
between you and my sexy pal Lesli Kay (Felicia) — is the show heading
in that direction?
CM: I enjoy working with both actors even though they are very
different performers. Yes, Lesli's great — and she's an Emmy winner.
I agree, we do have a good chemistry and energy. As a fan, I'm
interested in seeing where Felicia and Constantine are headed.

TVG: Are you comfortable singing and acting on the show?
CM: It's definitely a comfort zone. Music and acting is a part of me,
so whenever I can do both, it's heaven. I love musical theatre, so
this is very similar. I think [headwriter] Bradley Bell has written
my story well, and my music works within the context of the storyline.

TVG: But singing is your first love, right?
CM: It's a hard question. I was a singer first, since I was very
young. In an effort to sing more, I got into musicals and plays when
I was young. There are both so a part of me, that I can't separate
the two. I studied both acting and singing at the Boston Conservatory
of Music. I can't answer that question because I'd feel vacant inside
if I could only do one.

TVG: Describe your CD for our readers.
CM: It's a good rock `n' roll record — it's got my blood, work, and
sweat built into it. I started my own label, and funded the record
independently. It's not an over-produced masturbatory record that you
hear a lot these days. It's earnest and focuses on song writing.
People should buy it because they should support independent
records.

TVG: Let's talk about your infamous stare. Are you sick of the
attention it draws?
CM: [Laughs.] It seems to be the topic of conversation with people
since American Idol! Listen, I try not to take myself too seriously.
At one point, Brad wrote into one of my first scripts that
Constantine gives Phoebe the "look" and I thought it was funny. It
was a wink to the audience, and didn't mind playing it. At the end of
the day, I'm an actor and I act what's on the page. It's a well-
written show without my input; I just serve the text.

TVG: It must have been nice to have Elliott Yamin on B&B last week
during The Bold Face Challenge. He's one of my favourite singers ever!
CM: Elliott's a good friend — he's doing very well and I'm so proud
of him. I'm thrilled he could be on my show!

TVG: Let's get to the question on everyone's minds — are you single
and dating?
CM: [Laughs.] I have tried to make time to date lately. I'm sort of a
workaholic. The girl I end up with will have to tolerate my career —
but those are the girls I'm interested in anyway. She'll definitely
have to have her own career. The secret to a longtime relationship is
to have your own life and respecting each other's careers. So yes,
I'm dating and I'd like to settle down in the near future, for sure.

Six Flags yesterday

Saw Constantine last night at Six Flags in NJ. He was great! Got my CD signed after the show. He sang all the songs off the CD except Tshirt, HHTL and Right to my Head PLUS Cryin' was the encore.

A search for Maroulis doesn't find it. The artist is listed as Constantine, so only a Constantine search finds it. Then sort by release date and it is the first one to come up under popular music.
It is VERY hard to find. You can actually make search suggestions.

Presales all go to the first week of sales. They are VERY VERY IMPORTANT in that the first week determines where the CD will debut on Billboard :) And the higher we can get it to debut, the more press Constantine will get for it which will make even more people aware so they can purchase it...Presales also put more copies at the stores for distribution as well. So preorder LOTS!!! :)

i was just watching the top 20 countdown on CMT and happened to see Kellie Picklers video for "I Wonder". now they don't actually show his face, but i'm about 99% positive that Constantine is in it. she's walking backstage and he passes her, she smiles at him, and then he pats her on the back and walks away.

Am I the only person that's going to have trouble taking his album seriously after all of this Bold and Beautiful stuff? I mean, obviously I like and support him because I'm watching the show..but I do sort of laugh hysterically during most of it. Because its pretty ridiculous. And I'm sort of disturbed at how young Phoebe is...I'm not the only one, right? I'm younger than her and find it disturbing how young she is.

I was just wondering because I was on his myspace and all the comments were going on about how great the Girl Like You video was, and I thought it was..weird.

I've missed all of Constantine's parts so far, because I have to go to school (boo! haha) and can't record or anything (double boo!).
Could anybody sort of explain the show for me? I'm not a fan of soaps at ALL, and I have the feeling that it'll be torture to watch and I don't want to be any more confused than I have to be.
I've got that Constantine is a record guy and Phoebe is a music girl and Constantine likes Phoebe.
Is that all I need?

He thinks Sanjaya has a couple more weeks left in him. And he believes Blake is doing well out of default among the guys and Chris Sligh "has fallen off the map."

Talking from his apartment in New York City, he was very personable and it certainly helped that we were talking about him.

And naturally, he's working on a self-titled album, which he will release independently this June with Sony as his distributor. It will be rock-pop, radio songs with hooks. "This is the new age of the independent sector in music," he ntoed. "I think everyone has a chance to become their own Clive Davis."

He said he's grown up with an entrepreneurship mentality, cutting lawns and shoveling snow. "You have to be your own business, create your own brand," he noted.

The soap opera will play some of his songs. He will consider it great marketing.

Maroulis admits his career hasn't skyrocketed since "Idol" but he feels he's done some good quality work, including "The Wedding Singer" on Broadway. He was disappointed he couldn't turn a sitcom idea with ABC and Kelsey Grammer into an actual show.

B & B gets Idol-ized

With his bedroom eyes and Fabio tresses, it was only a matter of time before Constantine Maroulis found his way to a soap.

The American Idol Season 4 star will appear on The Bold and the Beautiful in a summer music plot--but this is no mere cameo. 'We're going to blur reality a la Entourage and have Constantine play a fictional version of himself,' says B & B executive producer Brad Bell. 'He will become fascinated with online gossip about [media princess] Phoebe Forrester and want to be her music producer. He loves her face, her voice, the whole package and sees her as a way to make money.' Expect a romantic triangle with the duo and Phoebe's lover, Rick. And, teases Bell, 'Constantine isn't the only Idol we'll bring to the show this summer.'
