| About: | Welcome to ConPal Florida: The community created to help lone anime con-goers within the state meet friends, get rides, and perhaps help split the cost of the hotel room. As a non-driver who loves conventions, I often find it difficult to get to and from them, especially if they are located outside of the city where I live. On top of that, all of my good con-friends usually only attend the convention for one day, leaving me up to my own devices on finding some fellow fans to share a room with. Thus, after seeing myself (and others!) posting in general convention communities requesting rides, rooms, and sometimes simply another fan to hang out with, I decided that it was the right time for a place like this. On the flip side, this is also a place for anyone with extra room and a desire to help lower their expenses to advertise, be it a ride or a room, for strays and stragglers who would greatly appreciate it. RULES FOR POSTING 1. BE CAREFUL. Meeting a person you don't know over the internet is always dangerous. Make sure you contact the person you are helping/getting help from and get to know who they are before randomly getting into a vehicle with them. Ask to see their MySpace, Cosplay Lab profile, etc. See if anyone can vouch for them being who they say they are. It may seem like you're being paranoid, but it's always better to err on the side of caution. I don't want to hear of anyone getting hurt, kidnapped, raped, or anything else of the sort through the use of this community. 2. I'd prefer it if you were over 18 years of age. Please, be AT LEAST 16 and if possible, travel with a friend or sibling who is older. 3. NO ADVERTISING. The only exception would be another community which is relevant to this one, such as ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} flcosplayers.4. This community is for FLORIDA CONVENTIONS ONLY. You may post requests and offers if you do not live in Florida, but the event MUST BE Florida-based. (If you'd like to created a CONPAL community for your area, feel free!) Title your post REQUEST (if request) or OFFER (if offer). The body should be arranged like so: Request/Offer: List RIDE, ROOM, COMPANION for [NAME OF CONVENTION, LOCATION, DATES]. You may request only one or up all of those. Only request/offer for one event at a time. Name: List your name. Age: List your age. Gender: List your gender. Location: List your location as specifically as possible (required for RIDE REQUESTS/OFFERS only). If offering, say how far you are willing to go to pick somebody else up. Reason: List why it is that you are requesting and/or offering. SAMPLE: Hey guys, I'm from the Daytona beach area and am planning to go to AFO this year. I'm low on funds and looking to carpool. I will also be alone and am interested in splitting the cost of a room with a group of other con-goers (any genders are fine) who might be looking to chop their expenses some more. Partners in Crime: List all other people who will be with you and their ages/genders. Estimated Cost: (If OFFER for RIDE and/or ROOM) Estimate how much it will cost for the requestee's part of the gas and/or room expenses. Estimated Budget: (If REQUEST for RIDE and/or ROOM) Estimate how much you are willing and able to pay for your part of the gas and/or room expenses. (also specify if your budget is fixed, possibly flexible [give or take a few bucks], or flexible [will take any offer]. About me: Post a short bio, your favorite series, whether or not it will be your first convention, etc. If possible, a picture of you attending a prior anime event (so we know you aren't a random stalker!) and any personal links that may further prove that you aren't out to kill anyone. Contact info: Post a phone #, instant messenger names, etc. If you're uncomfortable, just put "If interested, comment" and give the person your contact information in a screened reply or later. Aside from these forms, the only other posts allowed are introductory (to introduce yourself), reviews (posting about your experience if the request/offer is met and goes through smoothly), or to remind other members that your request or offer still stands (with a link to your form post). You may also post helpful resources or, if you feel it necessary, an "offer/request expired" post.
