CHARACTER LIMITToo much bureaucracy hampers game play, so I hope to make this the last notice for a while. This is a complicated issue. Please read everything carefully.
[1] Starting now, you may APPLY for another character.See the
Roster for available characters. If you see one you want to own, email me your application. If there are discrepancies between you and another writer, be ready to compromise.
You're allowed to own more than two characters. However, I WILL look at you funny when I ask you to convince me why. Not trying to scare you. Just being frank. If you're approved, you own the character indefinitely. Either you give up the rights or another writer takes it over your dead body.
Once you own a character you may do anything with him/her/it, including granting another writer permission to Temp that character whenever you need help. This is explained in detail below. For example: If you own both Adama and Tigh, it will be difficult to write against yourself in a scene (and gain any satisfaction, that is). We understand that sometimes you need a hand, a prompt from another writer, and we're here to lend one. Just ask around.
First come, first served.
[2] Want the fun without the commitment? TEMP a character.Playing a Temp is the lite version of Rule One above. We need Viper pilots. Physicians. An XO. Caprican models. Deck hands. Many shoes remain unfilled. Because Temps are considered a different status than owned characters, you can sign up for as many Temps as you want.
[ Sign up for a Temp here. ]First come, first served. I'm asking you to sign up to prevent confusion between writers. Let's avoid toes being stepped on because of poor communication.
Unofficially, once signed up, you are that Temp's writer. Officially, you run the risk of someone actually applying for your Temp and stealing them away for good. This is an issue of commitment, therefore, I consider it fair. If you end up loving your Temp, apply for them. If you hate your Temp, delete yourself from the list. Someone else may pick up your slack, no big deal.
The only catch? Temps are not allowed to post new threads. (Defeats the whole purpose of taking the time and undergoing the full application process like a model citizen.) Temps may only be used to reply to existing threads.
When posting as a temp, please use your original account; do not make new journals. It's the best way to distinguish between an owned character and a temporary character.
If you're merely helping out another writer for a day, no need to sign up. The sign-up is meant more for people who want to Temp a character for the long haul. (And even then I would strongly urge you to fully Apply.)

Temp info page has been updated to reflect this post.
