In the ConCertino 2009 songbook, "No Quarters" should have been credited with lyrics by Brooke Lunderville, to the tune of "No Quarter" by Cat Faber. The error was due to my mentally glitching, not to any miscommunication.
The correct credits will go into the Filk Book Index when I get around to indexing the book. |

I want to thank everyone who came to Concertino, and especially the ConCom and Interfilk for having me as a guest! I had a wonderful, wonderful time and I hope you all did too.
I've posted my pictures of my trip here. (Well, the first dozen aren't from concertino, but most of that set is.)
I wanted to correct one tiny error in one of my songbook submissions - it says that No Quarters is words and music by me, but it's actually to the tune of Cat Faber's wonderful No Quarter. So you might already know the tune!

It was a successful ConCertino.
Thanks to the guests, who were great and worked very well with each other.
Thanks to the committee, especially the ones who jumped in at difficult times when some problem had to be fixed.
Thanks to everyone who came. Without you, it would have been just a very expensive housefilk for the committee.
And thanks to the Conterpoint committee for doing next year's NEFilk instead of our having to do it again! |

I didn't remember I had a camera with me until just about the end of the con, but I did take a few pictures right at the end. (If anyone in the pictures would prefer their photo not be posted, let me know and I will take it down.) And if anyone can supply names for the folks I didn't know, I'll add them.
I also took snapshots of the charts used at the chord jams-- if anyone wants copies, just let me know where to send them.

I've got a roomshare, but with the room block closed, I'm loath to release my existing reservation (at the con rate) if someone wants it. I believe it's Friday->Sunday, though it shouldn't be hard to increase.
Anyone want it? If I don't get any takers by 24 hours before it starts, I'll have to cancel it rather than handing it off (or take a 1 day penalty). |

The "buffer room" problem has gone away. The entire hotel is now non-smoking! (Smokers, please plan accordingly; hopefully we'll have nice weather so you can vent outside. If the weather isn't nice, please vent outside anyway.) People in the ConCertino room block will be placed near the con suite and function space. If you're a light sleeper and think you'd bothered by singing in a neighboring room, let the hotel desk know and they should be able to find you a quieter spot.
We have the amphitheatre for Friday evening (though still not for Saturday).
A draft of the program is now on our website. It's still subject to change but should be pretty close. |

| Volunteers needed for buffer rooms! |

At the Crowne Plaza hotel, there are rooms above the con suite and function space. For obvious reasons, we don't want mundanes stuck with these rooms. So at each ConCertino, we ask people if they're willing to take rooms on the second floor.
The only catch is that this is a smoking floor. The hotel does air out the rooms; it's in the hotel resume. If you're extremely sensitive to smoke, this isn't for you, but for most people it isn't a problem. By offering to take a room in the buffer area, you help avoid a re-enactment of the OVFF "How many of them can we make die?" scenario.
If you can do this, please drop a note to hotel at concertino . net saying so, or leave a comment here, identifying yourself if I might not recognize you from your LJ handle. Many thanks from the concom! |

| The ConCertino '09 CD |

Those of you who got premier memberships for ConCertino '09 chose wisely. For one of the things to throw into the premier goodie bag, I asked Harold if he could throw together a little CD with a song or two by each of the guests from his own recordings or other available sources. Now I should have known that with Harold this wouldn't be just a "little" project. It's looking to be a full-length CD to which he's gotten quite a number of filk audio geeks to provide their recorded treasures. It will include all the guests, including some rare recordings of Lois Mangan.
In addition to premier members, convention guests, members of John Caspell's family, and some other selected people will get copies of the CD. For the rest of you, we'll make a few available at Interfilk auctions, but you'd better be prepared to throw some serious money at them!

Oh My! Only 20 more days until ConCertino! So much to do, so much to do!

* Arrange transportation. Plane tickets? Train tickets? Bus reservations? Gas up the car? Buy new walking shoes? Get the rims aligned on your Schwinn? Please feel welcomed to use this comment space as a place to find rideshares. You can find directions here
* Can't afford a room of your own? Please feel welcomed to use this comment space as a place to find roomshares. Your room is $89 per night, but your half of the bed is only $22.25. 75% savings!!
* Plan to contribute some Volunteer Time! Want to make new friends and meet new people? Volunteer! Want to know your way around audio recording equipment? Volunteer! Looking for a way to pass those 15 minutes of extra time? Volunteer! Want the concom members to stay friendly and crunchy in milk? Volunteer! (There might even be super secret special pins for thems who volunteer. But shhhh! Don't tell anyone. That's just between you, me, and these here pixels.)
* Get your songbook in order :) Where'd all those lyrics go? Oh, and that found filk from last week? The current set list? Oh, and the chords to that new song.
* Buy a bathing suit (OK, maybe that's just me, but the hotel pool has a view of a castle. Well, ok, it's not a castle; it's a nearby hotel that -looks- like a castle, but still...castle! There will be synchronized underwater filk swimming again!)
* Get new strings, reeds, picks, pads, oil, and all that other instrumental first aid. Especially that most important one - a single-room cool air humidifier, the best defense ever against concrud and one of the better ways to keep your vocals happy.
* Let the concom know if you have any unusual circumstances of which we should be aware (particularly, anything that might be amiss with your membership) You can email your unusual circumstances to the email address listed at the bottom of the page linked here
* Arrange your transportation home. Because, while we love you and all hotels love your business, sadly even the best of things will come to their timely end.
So, get going on that to-do list, ladies and gentlemen. No time to waste! Minus 20 and counting.

| Hotel note |

At the moment, the hotel is telling people there are no smoking rooms available. There definitely will be smoking rooms; in fact, we need to fill certain smoking rooms in order to make sure that mundanes aren't subjected to late-night serenades, and non-smoking concon members will have to take some of those rooms. It will take a few days to get the room block straightened out, due to Badger's having to deal with some urgent personal matters this week.
But if you want a smoking room, just register for a non-smoking room if that's all you can get and let us know, and we'll straighten it out.
