So I've read the second Dresden Files book and... well. Maybe anyone who would otherwise fry someone for giving bad critiques shouldn't read this. Also anyone who can't take a discussion and has to flame for not liking another person's opinion, please, don't read further. I'll take a discussion any day, but no raving mad insults. :D

"You're just a freak. Like me"

If I have ever been truly speechless after a movie, the Dark Knight was it.
Went to bed close to 5am cause Tam and Nik and I went to the diner.   Woke up around 11am and couldn't get back to sleep.

Ended up driving Tex and myself in to Worlds Apart, ate lunch and was convinced to play a little Munchkin while eating food (not a huge fan of the game, but I play it occasionally).

Spent a good portion of the day at Aviva's house, helping her setup her new Macbook (pretty!)  and transfer over all her files from the old laptop (simple but time consuming).   We also setup her new iPod touch.  Apparently they are making people pay for the 2.0 firmware even if you buy a new one now (after 2.0 came out, how lame).    They convinced me to stay for dinner and then convinced me to partake in Chinese food (I wasn't very hungry but a do love Chinese food).   Very nice folks and it was cool to hang out with Aviva.

Storm hit, wasn't too bad in Amherst it seemed. Then I drove out to Sunderland and found that a few entire streets were closed (silver lane, part of old amherst rd, etc). On the open roads there were trees down across half the road in a number of places.  Wow...

Took off for  Dark Knight with Nik and Tam a bit late. Tried to drive Rachel to her car, but Silver lane was closed.  On the way there we found out that a small bridge was out on 47 in South Hadley.   The detour routed us down a small road that eventually wound over to 116 (guess we should have gone that way to begin with)
We got to the movie almost 30 minutes late because of leaving a tad late and many blocked roads.

Performed in Rocky Horror for the first time in a month (typical as I usually am on 1/month rotation).   We actually had a pretty decent audience turn out.  Sold the sax for a reasonable $30.   I do much prefer performing in front of an at least semi full theater so that was cool.   Diner afterward, again now home until  5am.   Have to be in to Worlds Apart for 10am tomorrow to cover.  Looks like I am not sleeping so much this weekend :-/.

Ok, the sun is starting to rise...its time for bed!

BAM!

Meals over past few days, weeks really....

  • Jul. 20th, 2008 at 5:08 PM

Chicken chop with mushroom sauce, garlic bread, fries in school canteen

Cut for photo flood )

All photos are taken using Sony Ericsson K530i. I'm so used to my mobile phone camera facility that it's been ages since I last used my digital camera.

I've to skip watching free 'Dark Knight' sponsored by my current company due to school committment. That sucks. =_= There are comments about how good the movie is, blah, blah, but I cannot just absent myself from a lesson just to watch it. Sigh..

I've been editting my journal layouts at insanejournal for the past four hours and created chaos out of two of them. Crap. Facing laptop for continuous 4-5 hours under bleak lighting certainly does not work for me, I'm almost at my verge of crushing my keyboard. Must force myself to shut down my laptop which has been running at snail slow pace for some reason I do not understand within the next few minutes. It's driving me crazy.

Luckily, my main insanejournal editted (As above) yesterday looks much more presentable and it almost makes up for the disasters I've created out of my other two accounts.

Peggy cracks me up!

  • Jul. 20th, 2008 at 9:46 AM
I was up a bit later than usual last night, and around 2am when I wanted to get some sleep Peggy spotted a huge moth. She went crazy. I had to take photos of her because she was too funny!

+5 )
At some point the moth hid somewhere, and Peggy, even though she usually sleeps on the sofa in the living room, wanted to sleep in my room. I woke up a couple of times during the night and when I opened my eyes I kept seeing this white silhouette on the chair, looking up. When I got up this morning she was still there, staring at the ceiling...

More complaining about people, more whining about not getting enough sleep due to the heat, more bitching about how my life is so bad and I need to go cut myself. Waaaaah.

Still pop-free. Go me! Going to be putting more effort into brushing my teeth, too. Hey, I kinda need them. I should be paying more attention to them. I figure if I'm doing something as drastic as cutting pop out of my pop-heavy diet, I can manage something as simple as keeping my teeth cleaned.

So, yeah, this post is going to be short. I'm off to brush my teeth, then hopefully manage to get more than a couple of hours' sleep tonight. Woohoo!

Hard vs. Soft Atheism

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 10:55 PM
Hard atheism is the belief that there is not a god. Soft atheism is the lack of belief that there is a god. Many parallel terms and definitions exist.

I'm not quite a hard atheist. You can't prove a negative, so I won't say I'm certain that there is no god. I will say, however, that it's absolutely stupid to believe there is a god.

I'm going to call this soft-boiled atheism.

ZOMG! She Killed Ron! (New Vid)

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 10:21 PM
[mood| chipper]
[music| TV is blaring]

Yup, you guessed it -- I've gotten out of my vidding funk and have out a new vid! *cheers* It's another AU, and for once, I haven't killed Harry. I killed Ron instead. *dodges rotten fruit* I'm sorry! I love Ron too, it's just that it fit the vid!

Anyway, here we go!

Title: Lithium
Song: "Lithium"
Artist: Evanescence
Category: Alternate Universe, Angst, Unrequited Love, Shippy
Length: 4:20
Summary: (Alternate Universe!) Ron is killed by Voldemort, and Harry is devastated by the loss of his love. Hermione, meanwhile, has been desperately in love with Harry and wishes for him to return her feelings. But Harry can't let go of Ron, it seems.
Extra Notes: The viewpoint changes throughout the vid from Harry to Hermione -- hopefully you can also understand what is memories/dreams/wishing. You might also need to turn up the volume at the very beginning to hear the audio clips I put in.

Please watch, enjoy, comment, the usual...

Crappy night at work tonight. A news thing about how don't ask don't tell is costing the military people with needed skills, especially arabic linguists came on the TV, and one of the residents made a comment along the lines of 'should just send them all over there to get killed!'. I said 'That's not very tolerant', and she said 'I'm not trying to be tolerant!'. I wanted to scream, but I want to keep my job, so I bit my tongue. I've had a bad vibe off this resident since she was placed here tho. Then a bit later she fell asleep on the couch watching TV, which they're not supposed to do. I said her name, told her she'd been snoring and they're not allowed to sleep on the couch. She seemed pissy, muttered something about staff falling asleep and snoring away.
Dunno if she meant me, cos I do nap in the living room, but not til after all the residents are asleep, or other staff. Regardless, there's no rule against staff sleeping in the living room, other than we're not supposed to sleep on shift. But everyone knows as long as you just nap, and it doesn't interfere with your duties, a blind eye will be turned to it. I may have been a bit quicker to say something about her sleeping that I would otherwise have been, but she's fallen asleep before, and I've woken her up. So it's not like I suddenly started enforcing a rule I don't otherwise enforce. I always enforce this rule.
I'm just feeling really shitty about it.

A CHRISTMAS SONG FOR THREE GUILDS

Saint Joseph to the carpenters said on a Christmas Day:
"The master shall have patience, and the 'prentice shall obey.
And your word unto your women shall be nowise harsh or wild;
For the sake of me, your master, who have worshipped Wife and Child.
But softly you shall frame the fence, and softly carve the door,
And softly plane the table - as to spread it for the poor.
And all your thoughts be soft and white as the wood of the white tree -
but if they tear the Charter, let the tocsin speak for me!
Let the wooden sign above your door be prouder to be scarred
Than the lion-shield of Lancelot that hung at Joyous Garde."

Saint Crispin to the shoemakers said on a Christmastide:
"He who fashions at another's feet will get no good of pride.
They were bleeding on the Mountain, the feet that brought good news,
The latchets of Whose shoes we were not worthy to unloose.
See that your feet offend not, nor lightly lift your head,
Tread softly on the sunlit paths the bright dust of the dead.
Let your own feet be shod with peace; be lowly all your lives -
But if they touch the Charter, ye shall nail it with your knives!
And the billhooks of the commons shall drive is as dense array
As once a crash of arrows came, upon Saint Crispin's Day."

Saint Luke unto the painters on Christmas day he said:
"See that the robes are white that you dare dip in gold and red.
For only gold the kings can give, and only blood the saints.
And his high task grows perilous that mixes them in paints.
Keep you the ancient order; follow the men that knew
The labyrinth of black and white, the maze of green and blue;
Paint mighty things, paint paltry things, paint silly things or sweet -
But if men break the Charter, ye may slay them in the street.
And if you paint one post for them - ah, but you know it well:
You paint a harlot's face to drag all heroes down to Hell."

Almighty God to all mankind on Christmas Day said he:
"I rent you from the old red hills, and, rending, made you free.
There was charter; there was challenge; in a blast of breath I gave;
You may be all things other; you cannot be a slave.
You shall be tired and tolerant of fancies as they fade -
But if men doubt the Charter, ye shall call on the Crusade!
Trumpet and torch and catapult, cannon and bow and blade,
Because it was My challenge to all the things I made."

My mother pointed out another thing I can't do normally due to my locked tmj (so far she's mentioned eating and french kissing). I can't yawn properly. I went downstairs to get a drink and she was standing in the kitchen talking to me Dad and she looks at me with a goofy smile and says, "Michelle, can you yawn?" The answer is yes but I look seriously deranged. I demonstrated and she laughed so hard she almost started to cry. She said I looked like I was mentally handicapped. Lovely.

I'm thinking about getting bangs. Thoughts? Comments? (On whether I should or not, and if so, in which style?)
Nowadays a lot of companies are using Twitter to advertise and to provide support, examples being comcast, virgin america and...mozilla for firefox.

Two people I follow on twitter (both iPhone developers, etc) somehow got started talking about standards support in Firefox and well...this is not how you should do publicly viewable customer support:

This definitely is not the kind of attitude I remember Mozilla/Firefox having back in the pre-1.0 days (man, I feel old now), and I'm sad to see it happen. Firefox brought standards to the table and forced Microsoft to basically get off their asses a little bit, but it sorta seems the same thing is starting to happen with Firefox taking Microsoft's place vs. Webkit and Opera.

I had quite the enjoyable night last night.
James came by to check out the new coupe, and give his opinion on it.
Sat around and shot the shit. Casey called me about 18 times asking me what I'd do if I were in his shoes with the Steve situation.
Suz and Duffee came by to check it out, which turned into us all chilling out shooting the shit.
Will called, and we went to go see the Dark Knight, which, of course was sold out.
So Will, Me, Counts, Matt, and South all met at Steak and Shake, drove for hours, nearly died on a dirt road, and came back and sat in the S&S parkinglot for a good 2 hours.
South and I had a mini race on the way back from the mall.
First time I'd hit 140 in the RSX in a while, and for some reason, I was the most comfortable at that speed I've ever been.

Been under GoldieII today trying to see how bad it had been wrecked, as well as trying to figureout why it won't start. I'll figure it out. Hell, the car has 3/4 tank of gas in it, haha.

Hopefully we'll all get to jam later tonight.

so...

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 11:18 AM
ive gotta hang out here all day? already wish it were monday. actually, more like wednesday. too bad i cant think of anything to do other than clean. cant spend any money anyway.

so i have this problem where im never really paying attention. anyway, sometimes i get bored and staring off into space so i listen to what people saying and holy fuck do people talk about themselves non-stop. its impossible to have a conversation with anyone about anything cause theyre always waiting for you to shut the fuck up so that they can veer off-topic to tell you something about themselves. what theyve done, what theyre gonna do, who they know. i wanna be like, so you know this has nothing to do with what we were originally talking about and is boring as all fuck, right? ive been doing a lot of the mental nap/eye contact thing lately. pretty much if people arent talking about themselves, theyre talking about god. i could see if they were having some sort of an issue that they wanted to discuss and that might be interesting, but its just blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. well at least theyre not like jag who thinks anytime someone says something they need advice. talking to jag is like this "ow, i stubbed my toe"..."you should watch where youre going and buy better shoes or probably not even walk at all since women are useless anyway which is why greek men fuck eachother. why dont just you just come here and make me a baby?".

oh actually, if you watch court shows, especially divorce court youll notice that the litigant who is wrong never seems to understand the questions directed toward them because theyre too busy thinking about the thing that they want to say next/lie they think will save their ass. and thats what talking to jerry is like! jag too sometimes, but its more when hes telling you something you already know, but wants to tell you anyway. for jerry lets add in the fact that the thing hes always trying to get you to swallow is that he is your victim instead of the shithead. at least jag admits to being a dumbass when called on it instead of whining even more. guys, if youre an asshole, be a proud one that doesnt give a shit who knows. its actually sort of hott and one can respect that so long its not only *after* you get busted. but being a pathetic whiny bitch of a disgusting liar is probably worst thing one can do. i think so, anyway. makes me want to purge.

the one area of my mouth that didnt have any issues hurts like hell and i cant tell if its because of the missing wisdom tooth blow, or there is something going on in that "quadrant". cant wait for that hole to heal up so that i can get the other one pulled + cavity filled then be done with the important stuff for hopefully another 30 years. im glad all the stuff that needs fixing is in the far back of my mouth. just wish itd stop hurting. maybe i shouldve gotten the pain pills.

someone nearly stepped on a green beetle the other day and i screamed bloody murder. then some guy moved him to the dirt. doubt it helped much unless it waited until 4am to try to go anywhere else. i felt bad for him. moved so slow.

im avoiding my apartment.
