SBC Yahoo DSL help
Hi all,

So heres my problem. Everythings fine and dandy and my internet is nice and fast. But I come home from work and see Windows saying "network cable unplugged" and such, so I check it all, everythings fine and the other PC connected fine through the 2wire DSL Box. So I use the other PC to download and burn on a CD the USB driver for my specific box (as I do not have the installation CD anymore) and it works through the USB at half speed. But I want it to work through the ethernet cable again. i reinstalled my ehternet card multiple times and changed many settings, it doesnt seem to be the actualy problem, nor the cable itself. ive used many. ive also switched from using my motherboard LAN port and using an actualy card too.

any info would be useful, as im still new to DSL and havent had many problems with it before. and calling SBC is out of teh question for me.

thanks in advance,

Seph

Has nothing to do with DSL, and doubtful that SBC can help you on this one, due to they will point you to Microsoft and the manufacturer of the machine.

If you are gettng the "Network cable unplugged", and the machine has been idle, it may be trying to pick up the WiFi connection from the 2wire if your machine is equipped with a wireless card, the network connection timed out, due to machine went to sleep, to even having a bad network cable.

Try a new network cable, make sure that in the properties for the network card that the box for "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power" is not checked.

Also, check over in http://www2.dslreports.com/forum/2wire

Yes, that is why I'm staying away from SBC Support. Plus, I have already tried different ethernet cards and new cables and changed many settings, it will be be recognized through ethernet, but I got close to my old speed back on USB.
