Who are you?

This is a recs and love community for Babylon 5. Basically we're hoping to bring some Babylon 5 fandom to our flists on a regular basis, not only through rec posts, but also with general discussion and enthusiasm for Babylon 5 in all its shiny glory.


Inspired in part by the super places like [info]ds_recs, the format is far more relaxed, but similar. We're looking for the same sorts of posts as are made in those communities, but we're leaving it open for everyone to post whenever and however often they wish to.


While new fandom stuff is fab and great, we'd quite like this community to have a bit of an emphasis on old fanfic, websites, etc. There are an awful lot of new fans coming into a fandom that is not very active,(although it seems to be getting more active recently, yay!) and a lot of old fans who would love to know where all their favourite fics and authors have gone! (On that note, there is no problem linking to sites that only exist on the WayBack Machine. However, please make sure that all the parts of the fic you are reccing is avalible, as there are often gaps in the WayBack Machine.)


Please do try to get involved and post things, we will shower our thanks upon you. (No, really.)


What do you want?

Some ideas of posts to hopefully inspire you:

  • Recs of fanfic, icons, songvids, fanart, fanzines, websites, screencap resources, books (official or non-official), fanmixes.

  • Likewise, recs of an author, a journal, a community, a convention, an archive, or a reccer themself.

  • Reviews of favourite episodes, seasons, characters, pairings, moments, etc. These can be deep insightful thoughts or happy shallow squee, all is equally welcome. If you want to tell us why you have not-so-much-love for any of these, that's happy too, just be sure to tell us why and keep it civil.

  • You could write deep and thoughtful essays about the characters' arcs, the psi-corps, or the series' politics; or you could post a list of all the episodes in which G'Kar touches Londo.



Community Rules:

The memories will be updated, so you can see what's gone before, and hopefully all posts will be well tagged, but we're not going to be too fussy about accidental repeats.


Please lj-cut any posts that are longer than a short paragraph or two, to spare people's friends pages. Also, please try to warn for spoilers, and be aware that not everyone reading will have seen the whole series. But likewise, if you haven't seen the whole series be aware there are likely to be spoilers lurking in most posts:)


The only hard fast rule is please not to pimp your own creations or to post them here, this is a place to posting recs to other people's work. If you're looking for somewhere to post your own fic, icons, songvids, etc, you might try [info]babylon5, or check this community's tags where hopefully people will have recced other websites that might be interested.
