EYES SECRETS
Every other Friday at DrawerGeeks! a character is presented. Artists from all over the spectrum then draw that character, in their own unique fashion. The result is awesome. Link via Ratchel.
It's that caption that kills me.
Trouble keeping headphones untangled? Throw up the horns.
Wrist mounted flame cannons. I need a pair. To fight crime, obviously. Why do you even ask?
Have an outdated ipod (or other media player) that you don't know what to do with? Give it to me, and I will install Rockbox on it. Also, I will keep it. I mean, you could install Rockbox yourself if you really wanted too.
How two students built an A-bomb. "If you were a grad student today, and you reviewed the literature, a lot of pieces would fall into place."
Gallery of architectural drawings by Hugh Ferriss.
I did not know about Braunstein. Before D&D, even before Greyhawk and Blackmoor, Braunstein was the world's first modern RPG.
How to make: Tetris bookshelves, Tetris ice cubes, Tetris brownies.
Two sets from Environmental Graffiti: 30 Abstract Satellite Images of Earth and 10 Incredible Underground Lakes and Rivers
How to make new crayons from old crayon shnibbles. Kinda makes me wish I still had/used crayons.
A collection of animated engine .gifs.
There's a fine collection of stylish Mad Men wallpapers over at nobodyssweetheart. Currently, I am rocking with Joan and the Xerox. Note: There is one wallpaper for each episode of the second season, and you might call them spoilers. I wouldn't. Pete's a robot. Spoiler alert.
How we talk in the future will be strange: A dictionary of Futurese.
The Eyeballing Game is actually a series of short tests of your spacial sense. I suck so hard at it.
Fantastic Contraption is a fun physics simulator, a lot like Phun but with goals. Hard, but fun. Phun, by the way, is a fantastic physics sandbox unconstrained by artificial goals. It's even harder, but more rewarding.
Naumachia looks like it could be good. Starts off as a very colorful space fighter FPS, then moves into fast-paced RTS gameplay. Interesting.
Oh god why is this so funny
Oh god why are there more
Perversion for Profit, a 1960 educational video on the danger of porn. I like how it both tries to connect porn to communism, when it's really the most capitalistic of capitalistic things ever. Also, hot.
Sir Arther Conan Doyle on Sherlock Holmes his psychic experiences. Actual video.
It's quite telling how he feels of Holmes.
One for the psych nerds: The Action Potential as Interpretive Dance:
There's a new Maps of War out. I recommend syncing it with Gnarl's Barkley's No Time Soon (start it about three seconds into the track).
Also, check out this flash map of famous trips in history.

I'm not going to go home for Xmas. Instead, I'll leave on the 2nd of the December, and be home for mum's birthday on the 3rd. I would have left last day of November in time for my brother's birthday on the 1st, but I have an E.E.G. test that day. I should be able to stay for a week at least. This solves a lot of hassles, and I hope to see some old friends on this trip, like stephen_dedman and curi_oz_wolf.

As infected by stephen_dedman's post When you see this, post in your own journal with your favourite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech: Anyway, here's the "good parts" version. S. Morgenstern wrote it. And my father read it to me. And now I give it to you. What you do with it will be of more than passing interest to us all.

The usual spring weather - right now. Both Bobby and Peggy are under my feet.

We took Bobby to the vet about 11am. He had a look at him and has given me a course of antibiotics for the next few days. Bobby was lucky in that his lung wasn't punctured. He should recover after a few days. The ranger came out and took photos of the punctures. I need to make a statement for her in the next few days. As we went to the vets we could see that the gate the dogs have been getting out by, now has a couple of boards holding it back. Long long day. Bobby seems more or less OK, and I'm relieved for that.

Shame about the global economic collapse (I was going to move house, remember? Oh well, there's always a back-up plan...) but at least the weather's good, hmmm? This morning's walk into work was more of a wildlife ramble, all the suburban streets full of young crows playing games with plane tree bobbles and bouncing along brick walls, stiff-legged.
And the autumn colours are out, of course -- so it's time to cut through the park, and shuffle through the leaves.
Speaking of which -- happy friday!

-- and there's one under the cut, for all you economic apocalypse fans.

I keep hearing this track by Perth band Tame Impala on TripleJ called Desire Be Desire Go (you can hear the MP3 of it at their MySpace page). There's just something about this that really clicks with me right now. Have to confess, I've always been into drug music, even if I'm not much into drugs. Love the fading in and out on the track - it's 1968 all over again! Also found a version of Skeleton Tiger on Youtube (nice!): Golly - is that the Subiaco/Shenton Park from the Fremantle rail line in that clip?

I don't normally get drunk, but I intend to polish off a bottle of Stone's Ol' Green Ginger Wine tonight (mixed with something else). Too many bloody decisions to make just now, and too much stress. Fuck it!
