Introduction

What can we call you? Mandee or The Great Mandeenee

Where are you from? Maryland in the US of A (sorry, guys). I'm in London for the summer though. I love it here! I wish I didn't have to go back and learrrn again in September.

Favourite TV show? QI, HIGNFY, Arrested Development, News Radio, Shooting Stars, 15 Storeys High, Peep Show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Mock the Week

Your fantasy comedy seduction target list:

5: Frankie Boyle / Ian Hislop / Sean Hughes / Vic Reeves (i can't choose which one to put here. i like too many)
4: David Mitchell
3: Mark Lamarr
2: Paul Merton
1: Alan Davies

Ever met any of them in the flesh? Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about?
I am so pathetic that I've tried meeting some and each time I get close, I get so nervous that I run away. I went to the premiere of Angus Thongs and Whatever to meet Alan Davies and I was too scared to say hi to him then, so I waited until the movie let out and the cast walked out, but as soon as Alan came out, I froze and then ran away. My friend was visiting me for a week and I dragged her there. While he was on the red carpet, she screamed out "Alan Davies my friend has a crush on you!" very loudly so that everyone turned and stared out me. Alan was on the other side and he looked over and kind of waved. I guess that was satisfying enough for me. I've been to the comedy store twice because I wanted to meet Paul Merton, but as soon as he walked out both times, I got too nervous and walked away. I'm going again this Sunday. I don't have any hope for my plans actually working this time. I also like American comedians like Amy Poehler, Amy Sedaris, Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Mirman, and all the members of Stella. I have met Eugene Mirman and Michael Showalter from Stella and it was a pretty nervous, awkward conversation. I think that if I were drunk, things would go a lot more smoothly. I really just don't know how to approach people. My dad was trying to give me advice on the phone the other day. He said to just walk next to someone and stick out my hand, but I think that once they noticed my hand, I would probably take it away really quickly. The thing is that I'm in London all by myself and I don't know anyone, so that makes it even more difficult for me to try to meet anyone because I don't have that encouragement that I need. I need someone to hold my hand. These people are my heroes and I have difficulty asking a waitress where the toilet is.

I don't tell this to employers here in London when they ask, but the main reason I wanted to come to London for the summer is that I wanted to have sex with a comedian. It's just not working out for me.

But I also love Bill Baily & Jack Dee...& probably a few others I can't think of at the minute...

Your fantasy comedy seduction target list:

5: & Vic again cos I love him, he's the ideal man & the last one is NEVER the least ;)
4: Lee Mack...again, in a kind of weird way... lol
3: Sean Hughes in a sexy, rugged kind of way...lol
2: Bob Mortimer because he was my very first crush & just an adorable little bloke...
1: VIC REEVES!!! God, I swear the man is perfection itself...you can't top him, I'm sorry...

Ever met any of them in the flesh? Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about?
Sadly out of the list above, the only one I have met in the flesh is Sean Hughes. I went to see him last year at the liverpool royal court theatre & I swear he is the SWEETEST man you could ever meet...he was talking to me, my sister & my mate for ages afterwards & he was a very, very nice & geniuely friendly man! AND he just hugged me out of the blue, I didn't even need to ask him, he just kinda attacked me hahahaha. ;) It was a fab night & he made it even more perfect by being so sweet. :D Other comedians that I've met are The League of Gentlmen...(got a hug yet again off Mark Gatiss but I had to ask for that one lol). Matt Lucas & David Walliams (Little Britain) & Matt made my life by saying he liked my out-fit & just generally being adorabley nice to me. :) Me & my mate went through a stage of being followed around or INVOLUNTARY STALKED if you will..by Peter Kay (long story lol) Oh & I've fallen over in front of Dylan Moran lol. I think that's about it for my comedy related shananigans...lol oh & if you haven't already guessed by now, I'm a HUGE fan of Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer (have been for aslong as I can remember) & I am actually in love with Vic... ;) & Very pleased to meet you all...*waves*

I met Phill Jupitus yesterday! :D

He's in town for two days for the Arts Festival doing a performance of Whose Line Is It Anyway? with other comedians (Stephen Frost, Ian Coppinger, Steve Steen & Andy Smart). They do it quite often, but I've yet to see it as I never have the money which is also an often occurance. Anyway, this is the first time I've actually seen him so I was rather excited.

My friend and I had ran into two more of our friends on the street of the venue and we were standing chatting when I get poked, "Is that Phill Jupitus?" I turn and see the back of his unmistakable figure. We act 'cool' as we decide to wait for his return from the shop. By cool I of course mean we were all giggling and laughing hysterically at the idea of seeing him again...he returns, we waved a bit obnoxiously across the street at him. He seemed to smile to himself and crossed over, kept walking but briefly sort of said hello & asked us how we were, very friendly and everything. I'd say he was entertained, because the minute he left the giddy laughter returned.

That's all really...I figured someone here might understand the irrational excitement of such a brief encounter XD Yay!

edit: Met Stephen Frost today! :] He was lovely.

♣

Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about?
There was one near miss. I saw Ed Byrne's solo gig in Glasgow a few months ago and had to leave after he did that gig. My cousin and her friend were staying on for the after-show show, which involved Ed and some other comedians. I unfortunately couldn't go to the second show because I had to get the last train home, but no sooner am I on the train than I get a call from my cousin who was screaming down the phone at me. Ed Byrne had just bought her a drink! FFS! I asked her to compliment him on his show for me and say how much I'd enjoyed it. He said thanks to me over the phone via my cousin, but I was SOOOO annoyed at missing out on meeting him in person! :(

As a creator of a comedian pic spam community, I feel as if I have found my people.

Introduction

What can we call you? You can call me Amy.
Where are you from? Originally from Bristol, I have lived in London these last few years.
Favourite TV show? Outside of comedy it's 'The Wire', but seeing as I am on a comedy community, I should also list 'Peep Show', 'Nighty Night' and anything Chris Morris has ever done.
Favourite stand up act/DVD? Daniel Kitson, without question. As he does not have a dvd out, I will say my fave stand up dvd would be anything by Tommy Tiernan or Dylan Moran.

Your fantasy comedy seduction target list:

5: Tim Key. I love the way his comedy makes audiences awkward and unsure at times. He is 100% hotstuffs and I will fight anyone who says otherwise :)
4: Russell Howard. Aw, I used to go see this kid back in the day and it's nice to know he gets even fitter as the years go by. Also, funny as all hell.
3: Peter Cook. Yes I know he is dead but the man was an absolute genuis. And dashing, oh so dashing.
2: Jemaine Clement. His is the face that keeps on giving. I would never get tired of looking at him.
1: Julian Barratt. Predictable (perhaps) but... cliches exist for a reason, heh.

Ever met any of them in the flesh? Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about
I think the best chat with a comedian I have ever had would be when I had a blather with Adam Bloom. He was very funny, natch, but also disarmingly frank about what he thought about his career, his brief forays into television, and other comedians he has encountered along the way. A truly charming, intelligent man. It's not a great funny story, I know, but it's an encounter I treasure :D Other than that I've chatted to various members of the seeming Bristol Comedy Mafia and they are an absolute delight :D

Pleasure to meet all you fine people!

'Twas totally ace. He signed my copy of The Naked Jape and thanked me for coming - ummm my pleasure !!. Quality, quality evening. Much love to Mr Carr.

I think that's most of them.
Nearly.

Favorite stand up act/DVD? Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, David O'Doherty, Paul Merton, Demetri Martin, Andy Blitz, Zach Galifinacus, Jimmy Carr, John Oliver, Brian Stack, Chris Gethard, Greg Proops, Dara O'Briain, Andrew Maxwell, Neil Delemare, Colin Murphy, Ed Byrne, Eddie Izzard, Danny Wallace, Dave Gorman, Dylan Moran, Mighty Boosh and about a million others, all of whose names escape me currently.

Your fantasy comedy seduction target list: See this is the very, very tough part for me because I am an absolute comedy groupie. Here goes... in a very random order.

5: Dylan Moran - He manages to be surreal and sarcastic. You have to love a man for that.
4: Demetri Martin - Who doesn't want a man who has a way with palindromes? To Hot (if I spelled too correctly it wouldn't work. Shut up grammar nazis!)
3: David O'Doherty - I love him. I just adore him. My ringtone may or may not be Orange... He looked through my bag so clearly he loves me too.
2: The Panel - I know I'm cheating. I dont care. The Panel boys include Jimmy Carr, Andrew Maxwell and Neil Delemare. Oh and would it be wrong to say Colin Murphy and Dara O'Briain? Oh screw it I'm saying them.
1: The Boosh Boys - I could devote the entire list to Boosh but I wont, because that's not part of the game so in this I am including not only the beautiful Mr Noel Fileding and Julian "Sex personified" Barratt but also Mike Fielding, Dave Brown and Paul King (and maybe a little bit of Rich Fulcher, but not as Bob Fossill). Yes I'm greedy but it's my fantasy list so nyehhhhh!

But I also highly recommend - Ed Byrne, Stephen Lynch, Paul Merton, the Pythons (especially Michael Palin), James May (not a comedian but very funny. Nice arse), Zach Galafinacus (no I have no idea how to spell it), Russell Howared, John Oliver, Andy Blitz, Brian Stack, Kevin Dorff, Horatio Sanz, Rob Riggle, Rob Cordry, Danny Wallace, Dave Gorman, Jon Stewart, Paul Dinello, Stephen Colbert, Leo Allen... I'm beginning to think I have a problem and that noone would be bothered to read so many lists. Thank you if you did. Nearly there.

Ever met any of them in the flesh? Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about?

Have seen perform: Jimmy Carr, Greg Proops, David O'Doherty, Colin Murphy, Andrew Maxwell, Dara O'Briain, Neil Delemare, Demetri Martin, Horation Sanz, Rob Riggle, John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Conan O'Brien, Kevin Dorff, Ed Helms, Brian Stack, Rachel Dratch, Amy Poehler, Upright Citizens Brigade, Stephen Colbert, Paul Merton, Leo Allen, Andy Blitz. I know there are others but I can't for the life of me think of them.

Have met and talked to: Jimmy Carr, Demetri Martin, Jemaine Clement (FotC), Andy Blitz, David O'Doherty (twice), Conan O'Brien, Ed Helms, John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, Brian Stack, Kevin Dorff, Horatio Sanz. Again I think there's more but I can't think of them.
I intend to add Noel Fielding to that list by the end of the summer thanks to the nice man in Camden village who gave me some handy pointers ;)

That was very therapeutic and I feel much, much better now. I really didn't put enough thought into it the first time. I have a feeling it was a 3 am kind of affair.
So enjoy my proper one.

Clearly, you are My People so I thought I may aswell introduce myself...

What can we call you? Holl, Hols, or any variation on that theme. Some people do refer to me as Ho, but its something I'm trying to shake off as I can feel myself being judged for what should be a perfectly reasonable and innocent shortening of my name!

Where are you from? Various places in the north of England that have more sheep than people. Soon, Edinburgh. But its not just so I can run around the Fringe watching gigs and meeting as many people as possible, honest guv'nor.

Favourite TV show? Green Wing, The Mighty Boosh, Peep Show, Black Books, QI, IT Crowd, Whose Line Is It Anyway? Spaced, Scrubs, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week, Look Around You, Nathan Barley, Skins, Have I Got News For You, Blackadder, That Mitchell and Webb Look, The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Father Ted and maybe a drop of The Vicar Of Dibley.

I can barely bring myself to watch anything serious these days, unless its unintentionally funny like Jeremy Kyle, Neighbours or Hollyoaks!

Favourite stand up act/DVD? I have a lot of love for Eddie Izzard's Glorious, but then again Like Totally Dylan Moran comes close, and anything by Ross Noble. Oh and Bill Bailey's Part Troll.

Considering ones I've actually been to see; well I went to Bill's recent Tinselworm tour and I must say, it was pretty darn impressive. I love anything that combines comedy and music - it's the ultimate combination! Oh and saw Simon Amstell soon after, and surprisingly he was almost as good! I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised - he's made Buzzcocks the rebirthed success it currently is but I'd thought of him more as a presenter than a stand-up before..

Your fantasy comedy seduction target list: Only five? Thats nigh-on impossible.

5: Dylan Moran - Can't beat a good dose of dishevelled Irish charm
4: Eddie Izzard - He's a genius. He wears fishnets. Whats to explain?!
3: Simon Amstell - Cute, quirky, sarky...gay. Damn
2: Russell Howard - He's a devoted Harry Potter fan! I'm smitten with him.
1: Noel Fielding/Julian Barratt - Is this cheating? I personally would consider them a package deal!

But I also highly recommend - Ed Byrne, Stephen Lynch (American comedian/songwriter), both of Flight Of The Conchords, Simon Pegg, Stephen Mangan, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Matt Horne, Ross Noble and Adam Hill. Yum yum.

Ever met any of them in the flesh? Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about?
I met Julian Rhind-Tutt once. He is beautiful, I just about restrained myself from petting his hair. Apparantly he might have seen that as inappropriate or something. I just didn't want to mess it up too much! Going to see Simon Amstell again soon, so maybe I'll get to meet him. Or the Boosh during their tour, but considering their maaasssive popularity it looks a bit doubtful. Ah well, can only give it a go...

Sorry that was a lengthy post of overly-rambling drivel! Always looking to meet people though, so if you feel like it, friend away!

The following is a post of sheer, overly tired desperation...

Perfect strangers, hear my plea...
Over the past week and a bit, an online friend has sent me two DVDs that were supposed to have lots of Russell Brand goodies on them. Neither of them worked, and now I'm going spare. Being in Australia with a lousy dial-up internet, I have no access to anything that he's been involved with otherwise, except for some mp3 files of Big Fat Quiz, and it's quite disappointing that both discs failed to work.
The discs were meant to contain:
-Lots of Russell's BBC Radio2 shows
-Big Fat Quiz '06 and '07 videos
-On The Road...
-Russell on the Graham Norton show

Now this may seem a ridiculous request, but I'm very fed up. So I was wondering whether, by some supreme amount of luck, any of you kind individuals would happen to have some/all of the aforementioned Brand, or anything else Russell-y besides? Because if someone could do me the grand favour of burning some stuff to a DVD for me, I would be indebted to you for life. Seriously.

And here endeth the begging.

Oh, and feel free to ignore this, because I feel a right knob posting it. XD

What can we call you? Nicole.
Where are you from? Sadly, I am from America but I'm Canadian and French, too, and I lived in France for 3 years so I don't consider myself to be that American.
Favourite TV show? (I've got a few) Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The Mighty Boosh, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Skins, The Office (UK & US), The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, Whose Line is it Anyway (UK & US)
Favourite stand up act/DVD? Any of Eddie Izzard's stuff, Russell Brand's Doing Life, The Mighty Boosh Live

Your fantasy comedy seduction target list:

5: David Walliams (I haven't actually seen Little Britain- please don't shoot me yet, they don't have full episodes on youtube - but everything I've seen with him has been uproariously funny. I love how uncomfortable he makes people.)
4: Russell Brand (he's a charming bastard, though, isn't he? And, I have nothing but adoration for his way with words... That's mostly the reason I like him, actually- otherwise his stuff is slightly too raunchy for my tastes)
3: Demetri Martin (oh, whoops, an American slipped in there! The way he incorporates his art into his comedy is fantastic.)
2: Simon Amstell (his sarcasm and biting little quips are exactly my kind of humour. He's a cheeky bastard and he knows it and I love him for it)
1: Eddie Izzard (I have loved this man for years. Completely brilliant.)

Honorable mentions: Julian Barratt, Bill Bailey, Noel Fielding, Jonathon Ross

Ever met any of them in the flesh? Or anyone else you'd like to tell us about?
Sadly, no. Living in America is not conducive to meeting my favorite comedians. The only celebrity I've ever met is MC Hammer and I was three and he's not a comedian so it doesn't count for anything. However, I might be getting Eddie Izzard tickets for his tour over here this summer... *fingers crossed*
