Avatar finale: That. Was. AWESOME!!! That is how you end a series! And can I just say how glad I am that they ended it here? I love Avatar to death. It was one of the best shows on television. But I was so afraid that they'd milk the cash cow and drag it on and on until the show lost all meaning. Avatar is an epic and epics are supposed to end. *glares at InuYasha(which I lost interest in over 5 years ago)* Avatar ended perfectly and exactly when it should have. I love insanity as a plot point. Azula's breakdown was great! I also really liked the music during the Zuko vs. Azula fight. I'm wary of the Shamalamadingdong movie, but I will watch it. I hope he does it right. (probably won't)
Psych premiere: I loved that episode! rookie!Lassiter was so cute! I loved the Shawn and Gus fight in the lobby. And Lassi's face when he found out he'd just revealed his innermost secrets to Shawn's mom, lol!
Fic update: I'm doing another fic in the 'Solutions' verse where I'll explore the life of 10.5 and Rose 2.0 in the Alt!verse. I'm almost done and it should be up either tomorrow or Monday. |

However, things are fairly dandy.
I have new shoes, devastatingly comfortable shoes.
I think I'm normal enough now to venture out more than I have been doing. I need to do some exercise as sitting quaking indoors has buggered up my fitness somewhat. |

Back from my walk/jog.
Bought to turn 7am.
So I am early this morning.
Have to leave home at 9am to get veggies and other shopping.
Then hopefully today mummy coming down and we are going shopping...need a cardi.
Have to do school work today.
Might watch some more movies...maybe Bobby.
Only had less then 4 hours sleep...trying not to go back to sleep.
The sky this morning was amazing.
Waves of purple, pink and navy all together and the moon was still up...loved it...and I AM NOT a morning person.

I'm getting a cat!
My mum has said now that I'm not going back to uni, I can have a cat because then I'll be responsible for looking after it. She said as long as I found a way to get the dog used to it, but a quick google showed loads of methods so it should be fine. We're going to go to Battersea soon to have a look at their cattery. I'm so happy! I think we're aiming for a cat around a year old so it will be spayed/neutered and have its injections already. I wonder if I can rename it without confusing it too much.
I went to see Wall-E last night, and it was such a lovely film. I almost cried at a few points, it was so sad. But like any good Disney it had a happy ending so all was well.
Also my brother got a car today. It's an N-reg Fiesta and my parents bought it for him for £500, so he's already looking at insurance prices for it and getting excited. If we get that sorted by tomorrow then he should be able to drive it by the middle of next week. |

ITS JULY 19THHHHHHH
I HAVE WORK ON MONDAY BAWWWWWW but I have tomorrow off so late night ftfw after I take a nap.
I WON A BOX OF MALTEASERS AT WORK TODAY. There was a competition running for best recovery-er, and despite it being from 3-7 and my leaving at 5, Brenda said I was totes the winner because I was ten steps ahead or something awesome like that. Hard work is appreciated :D
Clearly, what I'm doing is building up a reputation as being a hard worker over this first week. Then even if I'm slower and less hard-working in the following weeks, no one will notice. A man need only rise early once to be called an early riser. (Though in all honesty, I actually like working hard...?)

Went to the Farnborough Air Show with my dad, Sara and CJ. Despite some initial hostility, we all had a pretty good day. I got some much needed fresh air, and was particularly impressed with the sheer volume of noise made by the Eurofighter Typhoon. Not much of a one for military spectacles generally, this one was really enjoyable. Forgot they'd had that Eurofighter on TG. Now want to be Jet Girl, XD. |

So much, and yet so little happened since I last updated... whenever that was..
001. We went to Weight Watchers on Wednesday and I've now lost 10.3kg! God I'm so happy! That's about 1/3 of what I'm planning on losing :D
002. I can't actually remember what I did on Thursday... Memory's being very crap lately. I blame obvious lack of sleep.
003. Yesterday I met up with Sarah, Jess and Myriam in town. We bought loads of underwear, especially me cos I only had one bra left, all the others are too big. I ended up buying very feminine underwear, which has to be a first. I'd always been either too young and then too fat to find nice underwear, so it was a very nice feeling going out of the shop with lacey bras and knickers :D I also got my first ever foundation and blush. The woman in Sephora put some on me to see which colour would suit me best, and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I actually thought I looked really pretty, which I would never have thought a couple of months ago... I love this new life, and this new me :D
004. I'm ill, or something. Must have caught my dad's cold. My head's been killing me for several days, last night my head was spinning in the restaurant and I nearly fainted at work this morning. And yet I'm still going out tonight... though I think I'll pass on the clubbing part. Not in the mood and no money.
005. Doctor Who arrived in the post today!! I think I'll be off now and watch as much as I can of this wonderful series 2 before it's time to leave. Gotta love Teh Tennant! |

Bob Fosko – Sodemieter op! (08-033)
Een van de meest bijzondere bands van de jaren negentig, was ongetwijfeld het gezelschap rondom zanger Bob Fosko, De Raggende Manne. Ooit zag ik ze live in Enschede optreden. Kort maar krachtig. Zoals hun liedjes, zoals al hun optredens, zoals hun teksten. Wat ik pas later begreep, was dat Fosko op doktersadvies niet meer dan twee keer per maand mocht optreden, zelfs dan niet langer dan een uur. Dus terwijl de meeste concerten al snel anderhalf, twee uur duren, dan nog een toegift of twee, in totaal zo’n twee en een half uur, was het bij de Raggende Manne na een uur echt over. Hun toegift duurde een seconde of zes. Hun hitsingle “Nee ’s niks” duurde nu eenmaal niet langer.
Ik vond de band altijd al fascinerend. Chaotisch, absurde teksten, bij elkaar geraapt, de naam van de band gaf eigenlijk al veel weg. In hun nadagen deden ze een tour voor een bekend sigarettenmerk dat graag Nederlandse artiesten hun helden liet naspelen. Voor De Raggende Manne betekende dit het vertalen van de rockopera Tommy. In het Nederlands werd hij al snel, zijn gedrag indachtig, Stommie. Prachtige vertalingen, maar vooral ook muzikaal erg goed. Ik vind het nog steeds jammer dat ik die tour gemist heb, dat ik slechts een half uurtje op televisie zag. Het cassettebandje met die opnamen draai ik nog geregeld en stiekem hoop ik nog altijd dat er opnamen van zijn en deze op CD of DVD uitkomen.
Mijn verbazing was groot dit voorjaar toen ik las over de vertaling die Jan Rot van de opera gemaakt heeft. (lees verder) Di-rect gaat deze vertaling ten tonele brengen. En niemand die vertelt dat het al eerder gedaan is. Dat de ‘Trekkastmafkees’ al een onovertroffen vertaling is.

Als reactie besloot ik de biografie van De Raggende Manne die nog in mijn kast stond maar eens te lezen. Een kijkje achter de schermen door Bob Fosko. Eigenlijk klopt het beeld wat de meeste mensen hadden niet echt. Het was allemaal nog een graadje erger. Nieuwe nummers voor het eerst spelen tijdens een optreden, zonder ooit geoefend te hebben. Bandleden die vervangen werden tijdens een tournee. Drankexcessen. Het clichébeeld van de rock ’n roll wordt bevestigd.
Dit allemaal staat in het erg leesbare boek, waarin ook foto’s, recensies, posters en hoezen te zien zijn. Gelukkig ook meerdere teksten, want die waren niet altijd even goed verstaanbaar als Fosko over de herrie van zijn band heen moest zien te komen. Ook blijkt overigens dat Fosko de band altijd als zijn speeltje heeft gezien. Democratie is leuk, maar in dit geval niet van toepassing. Hij bepaalde wat er gebeurde en als hij vond dat iemand vervangen moest worden, dan gebeurde dat ook. Maar ja, als bedenker, gezicht, tekstschrijver en zanger van de band, is dat ook wel weer te begrijpen.
