Miniatures by Post order
Am planning to place a Miniatures by Post order this week.

For those who haven't used them yet, they are on average 15-20% cheaper than GW Mail Order and currently have 25% off the new army boxes (i.e. £75 instead of £100!).

If you're interested in pooling resources to get the postage costs down, let me know in the next few days!

WYSIWYG
Hey guys,

Quick question about the WYSIWYG rule for the apocalypse game. I know GW's standard line is that you need WYSIWYG in big games in order not to get confused, but in a lot of cases I think it's the opposite.

Say I have five or six models of type X (not giving anything away here :-) ) which come from different eras of 40K models, from Rogue Trader to now, many of which have conversions or are using bitz scavenged from other armies or even epic-scale stuff.

It seems to me that it's actually easier to go 'never mind the models, they all have this this and this' rather than having to peer at each one individually to work out what's on it -- also avoiding confusion from people not spotting that what looks like a flamer is actually or 1st-edition melta or whatever.

Also it makes it much easier to get the actual list together, given that Amelia spent hours cleaning the other day and she'd have my nads on a plate if I got boxes and boxes of dusty miniatures out all over the living room floor to check what each one has.

Is everyone cool with this approach?

Andrew.

Points for Apocalypse Game
Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but on second thoughts, isn't 12,000 points maybe a bit too steep?
There's no way I can realistically raise more than 2,500-2,750 points, and with only 3 players on the loyalist side, that would mean that [info]dakari_mane and cybergimp would need to bring about 5,000 points each, which I think is a tad unlikely.

Seeing as this is just around the corner really, would it not make more sense to go for a more achievable 8,000-9,000 points per side?

Other views appreciated!

Rulebook v5
Having recently acquired an illicit electronic beta version of the 5th Edition rulebook, I was wondering:

Anyone interested in having a small (1,000-1,500 points) game using these rules? To try them out before their official release on July 5?

I'm free on Bank Holiday Sunday.

Saturday game?
Anyone free for a game Saturday? I'm free from midday and could probably host a combat patrol to 750pt game on my 4 x 4 table, but will happily travel. Either my Tau or Chaos Marine forces are available for battle.

Wow, I can't believe someone is trying to get a hundred quid for a penitent engine!

Ordering figures
I'm going to order a few figures from this place in the next day or so - does anyone want anything?

I recommend the figures from Freebooter and Wyrd Miniatures, as they're beautifully modelled - currently trying to resist spending a fortune on them! :)

Oh, also, I've got a bid on this eBay auction for 50 'space marines' - they're not really official GW ones, but they seem to be nice figures. I don't really need them, but figured (scuse the pun) that if I could get them for 15 quid, that'd be a nice deal for troops, so if anyone wants em if I win em, you can have em for whatever the final price is.

EDIT: From this pic I reckon they might make a nice Chaos Marine force with not much conversion.

Also, I'll prolly be out when the auction finishes, so if I get outbid, feel free to take over (I'm lenny_zero btw).

Does anyone have any experience with stripping models?

This guide reckons it's possible to strip even plastic models with a household cleaner, which would make it feasible to pick up some of the hideously painted but dirt cheap models floating around ebay.

http://www.dysartes.com/model/modelling/strippingaminiature.php

The cleaner sells from the website at ten quid a litre, which I'd be quite happy to split with someone if it's not available in supermarkets.
