Hi, I'm Sara, and Ill be a college freshman in the fall, 2 days before my 18th birthday. I don't really like my school, no one there seems unique or has an extraordinary sense of style, so if I find any lolis or anyone who wears any kind of Japanese street fashion, I'll be so happy.

Hi everyone :)

I joined this community a while ago actually but hadn't gotten around to posting yet because I wasn't sure exactly what to put in a post.

Anyway, I go to Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, U.S.A. and I'm wondering if any Lolitas or just girls interested in the fashion go here too? I've been here for like two years but I've yet to make any friends and sometimes, on rainy days especially when my SAD kicks in, I get pretty lonely :/

1) General college question: Ghosts? Mine has some.

2) Packing... I've still not gotten down what I need to bring and I am a little afraid i'll bring too much or too little. Should we take tips from the vacation lolita posts? (I'm still debating bringing my sewing machine.)

3)I think that we should post our lolita dorms when school starts back up. (and rooms would be fine too, i'm sure!)
School for me starts next month and I will be moving on the 15th. :3

I bring up the ghost thing because I want to do a hunt and I am considering making a "ghost hunting" dress. How lame, right?

So I found out who my roommate will be this year, and it's not who I requested. : / I'm a little bummed out, but it's ok. How did the rest of you handle moving in with someone you don't know? And especially explaining lolita to them?

I'm finally moving into a dorm! August is getting close (4 paychecks away! I'm scared...), and I'm super excited. I was thinking about bringing my sewing machine and all my fabric, but I've recently gotten worried about space and other things. I almost want to consolidate my home room to the amount of items that fit in a dorm room.

Are there any specifically lolita things that you wanted to bring with you to your dorm and couldn't because you didn't remember?
How did you make your side of the room loli without offending your roomate?

Any other random bit of wisdom?

Now the event that's happening at my school:

The function is called "A Body of Opinion: Middlemarch, Gladstone and Victorian Liberalism" and it's on May 1st (That's Thursday) at 4 PM.

The speaker is Elaine Hadley from University of Chicago. She writes and teaches about nineteenth-century British Culture, and has in recent years been particularly interested in think about popular culture broadly defined (theatre, journalism, cheap fiction) and political culture, especially liberalism as a social formation. She has just completed the manuscript for her second book, entitled Living Liberalism, which addresses Victorian political culture through political theory, theories of embodiment and the material practices of citizenship.

I'm a frosh at George Mason University in Northern VA. No major or minor yet. I have just discovered the loli-world and am completely enamoured. I have yet to buy full loli pieces. I'm a sweet lolita, but only have handmade things >///< and I've worn lolita to Normandale a quite few times already, but I actually only have 2 outfits XD

A little about me...
I'm a Theatre major because I love to perform, and I would love to be on stage in musical theatre (my dream role is Belle in Beauty and the Beast). I also love costumes and sewing and fashion, and I'm an avid cosplayer in addition to making Lolita clothes. I really want to go to fashion design school (hopefully FIDM) after I graduate here to study more on design, because while I love this school, they are severely lacking in costuming classes (there's only one teacher).

I love Disney (Sleeping Beauty especially), Harry Potter, and fantasy in general. I love Japanese culture and I would love to go to Japan. I'm hoping to go after I graduate if I can.

Anyways, if there's any other Lolis at LMU (I haven't seen any, but then again I'm often just listening to my iPod with my head in the clouds) or any nearby schools, I'd love to meet you. I don't have very many loli friends.

Hello,

Another lolita and I have gotten in contact with other lolitas at our college and are planning the first University of Maryland Baltimore County Lolita meet-up this friday. I know alot of people have trouble figuring out how to meet other lolitas at their universities so I wanted to tell the story of how we networked it.

kodachi148 posted in the general local community md_grandeur about an event that was happening at our university that might be interesting to other lolitas. Several lolitas going to UMBC replied to the post, surprised to know there was a lolita at UMBC. It would have ended there, everyone being vaguely aware that there were other lolitas at our university, but kodachi148 watched for all the users that responded through aim, and actively got us all to talk to each other through group chats, which led to meeting face to face. So we decided to do this mini meet on out campus and the announcement for that led to me meeting the yamanba that responded to the post on campus by happy accident that same day.

So it is possible college lolitas, so don't be afraid to e-mail or aim or talk to the lolitas you see in life and online, you never know, you could make lots of new friends.

If there are any UMBC lolis who watch collegelolita and haven't seen the announcement, the mini-meet is this friday at noon in the commons by the information desk.
