COLD CUT NEWS --
THE END OF DISCOUNT TIERS!
Effective immediately, Cold Cut Distribution is simplifying its discount structure, so that everything is sold at a flat-rate discount, instead of the previous multi-tiered discount based on the size of your order. Now everyone gets the best discount possible on every item, every time!
We sent out an official press release about our change in terms yesterday. You can also find more information on our website at http://www.coldcut.com . But what *exactly* does this mean for you, the Cold Cut customer?
If you look at one of our older Weekly Updates, you will see that every item has a "discount code" -- an "A", "B", or "C" letter. Previously, "A-discount" items (such as Slave Labor Graphics, Top Shelf, Bongo) were available at between 40-50% off the cover price, depending upon the size of your total order. But now, everything that was previously offered as an "A-discount" is offered at a flat-rate of 50% off, regardless of the size of your order. For items that were previously offered at a "B-discount" (Drawn and Quarterly, NBM, Heavy Metal), they are now offered at a flat-rate discount of 45% off the cover price. And for items that were previously offered at a "C-discount" (Graphitti Designs, TwoMorrows, Pantheon) are now available at a flat-rate discount of 40% off the cover price.
No more A, B, or C discount letters -- now the discount on every item is a simple number between 40% and 50% off. You can find out the current discounts offered on specific items and/or publishers by visiting our Online Catalog (http://www.coldcut.com/retailers.html
For current Cold Cut customers, NO ONE is receiving a lower discount on anything! For retailers who are already receiving the best discount on our books, you will continue to receive that discount. But for retailers who were receiving lower discounts (for example, retailers who place small-sized orders), your discount will improve by 5% to 10%!
What about retailers who are receiving a 90% free-freight credit as part of our "rolling discount" plan? Nothing has changed -- you will continue to receive the free-freight credit.
How about backorders? The new flat-rate discount will be retroactively applied to all items you currently have on backorder.

Product Spotlight -- A Scanner Darkly
Set in the future, just a few years from now -- Bob Arctor is a dealer (and user) of the lethally addictive Substance D. Fred is the police agent assigned to tail and eventually bust him. What Fred doesn't know is that Substance D gradually splits the user's brain into two distinct, combative entities, and that he is, in fact, in a frantic pursuit of himself.
Philip K. Dick's haunting science fiction tale hit the movie theaters last month -- and now the story has been adapted into a graphic novel by Pantheon Books!
Adapted and directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, A Waking Life, Slacker), and featuring the acting talent of Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr, Woody Harrelson and Winona Ryder, the movie has been entirely "animated" in Linklater's unique style. First the movie was shot as a live-action film, then each frame was animated over the underlying image, resulting in an eerily surrealistic vision that enhances the mood and theme of the film.
The movie has then been adapted into a graphic-novel format, 180-plus full-color pages showcasing scenes from the movie with word balloons. Recommended for fans of Blade Runner, Minority Report, and Strangehaven.
