Hello ladies! I have a situation. I have always only used creative memories albums. I have used other types of materials etc. , but the albums have always been creative memories. I am interested in trying another type of album and now I am confused. I went to Archivers and there were so many different types to chose from. Can you all recommend your favorites? Not just brands but the types, post bound, top or side loading etc? I want to make sure I can add or remove pages and I'm not looking to have to trim paper anymore (thats why I think I'm done with CM books). Thank you so much!

An update on that workshop thing I'm trying to get put together! Back on 25 October, I had posted about a workshop to make Christmas Tags. There have since been some new developments and they are as follows: The workshop isn't going to be at Whetstone, they backed out in letting me use their room, since (their word) I'm "profiting," even though I'm collecting the money before the workshop is to take place, so I can make sure to pick up the supplies for this shindig. The workshop times are the same, but it's going to be at the Maynard Avenue United Methodist Church at the corner of Maynard Avenue and Indianola, just immediately south of Hudson. ( directions )I hope this is going to be okay for everyone. The date is still 25 November 2006, and the time is still going to be the same: 2p to 5p, and the cost is still going to be $10, to make 10 tags. The cost is going to cover the cost of materials I need to pick up before the workshop, so I still need people to RSVP no later than Tuesday, at the latest, which is 7 November 2006, Tuesday, so I know how many people are coming. I need to collect the $ by the 10th, so I can get the supplies we're going to need by then. To RSVP, contact me at goth.writer@yahoo.com with "RSVP Christmas Tags Workshop" in the subject line and your pertinent information (phone #, e-mail address, all that good stuff) in the body of the note, so I can call you back and confirm. :) Thanx so much for your time on this matter, and I hope to see you there, and I hope you bring friends ready to scrap! :) It is going to be on the 3rd floor. When you come inside the Church (the glass doors on the Maynard Avenue Side of the building), go up the stairs, then turn left, keep going up stairs until you can't go up anymore. Then come all the way to the back, the room will be straight ahead. That's where the workshop's going to be held. Hope to see you all there! Workshop to make Christmas Tags! Hey, y'all. I'm pretty new to this list, and I thought maybe you all would be interested in this: I am a newly signed on Close To My Heart Independent Consultant, and I am wanting to hold a workshop at Whetstone library here in Columbus, Ohio on the 25th of November, it's a Saturday. It will be from 2p to 5p, and we'll be making Christmas tags. Cost is $10 (it covers the cost of materials that I need to get before the workshop, so I will need to collect the $ between now and the 10th of November, which is a Friday), and you will be able to make 10 tags. If anyone's interested, please let me know! Would love to have you! Just RSVP by 3 November, which is a Friday, so I know how many are coming! :) Just let me know your name and phone # so I can call you. E-mail me at goth.writer@yahoo.com with "RSVP Christmas Tags Workshop" in the subject line with all your pertinent info in the body of the note. Thank you sooooo much! Hi there, I live in columbus and I am a scrapbooker. I started scrapbooking back when I was in Jr. high school. Back then I used post bound albums that did not have page protectors. I also adhered my photos and memorabilia with rubber cement. LOL The good ole days? I started scrapping the archival safe way sometime in 1997. I'm also a member of the Columbus Scrappers, you may want to check them out if you haven't yet. Lots of great resources and community projects. It's cool to see a local scrap community in LJ though. Nice to "meet" you all. :D Current Mood: happy | | Saturday, September 24th, 2005 | 9:13 pm [saturn_grrrl]

the new store in Lewis Center! My father in law lives off of Polaris Pkwy and my husband noticed a new scrapbooking store on his way there about a week ago. Today I got to go up there...they had the new Hello Kitty papers so I picked up some along with a few other goodies.
But they have a website: www.scrapbookartpolaris.com
I was thinking about doing an entry with a list of the scrapbooking stores in Columbus and then making it part of the "Memories" section :) But I need help figuring out if I'm missing any:
1. Red Letter Journals - Grove City 2. Scrapbook Art - Polaris/Lewis Center 3. Pizazz It Scrapbooks - Pickerington 4. Archiver's - Easton
I was just going to list their address/phone/website. Who am I missing? | | Monday, September 5th, 2005 | 7:36 pm [saturn_grrrl]

FYI I didn't know about this until a few days ago, so I apologize in advance if this is old news.
There was a scrapbooking store in Grove City over by Kroger near 665. They are closed now. My Mom is really PO'd about this because she had $30 more to spend there and she would have gotten a $20 gift certificate.
We had gone to Red Letter Journals today and people there also said that the scrapbooking store in Hilliard closed as well.
Sigh!

Hobby Lobby I have spent the past 2 days on my lunch there! All of their scrapbooking paper is 1/2 off. This includes packs of paper. Their stickers, albums, and rubber stamps are 1/2 off too. Joy! Current Mood: bored | | Saturday, August 20th, 2005 | 7:54 pm [saturn_grrrl]

new member I was going to create a Columbus Scrapbooking community, but then I found you guys :)
I just went over to the new Target by Graceland and they have a whole aisle devoted to scrapping and some stuff is on clearance :)
If you haven't been over to Red Letter Journals in Grove City @ their new location, GO! They also have a website: www.redletterjournals.com
Have any of you been to the scrapbooking store off of SR256 in Pickerington? | | Tuesday, October 5th, 2004 | 11:06 am [living_insanity] |
I was told there is a new Archiver store near Easton that is open. Just wanted everyone to know! I heard its pretty big so I'm going to check it out. :) | | Sunday, September 19th, 2004 | 1:02 am [mayna]

Scrapbook pages This community's been really quiet lately, so here's some of my most recent scrapbook pages to show off: I'm caught up to pictures from our trip in April! woo! But I have like 250 more pictures to try to fit into the album... (excuse the reflections from the flash) ( These are rather big, so you can see the detail ) | | Friday, September 17th, 2004 | 12:40 pm [fullofstarz]

hey there ladies (And gents???)..i'll be traveling to columbus 9/28-10/1, and i wanted to check out any new scrapbook stores down that way..i've been to a couple, none of which really impressed me in selection or price (if anyone is familiar with toledo, i've been VERY spoiled by the scrapbook place)...any thoughts? thanks! :) | | Saturday, July 17th, 2004 | 4:27 pm [ohcupcake]

mayna told me to: if anyone is interested in scrapbooking, i found an excellent store in grove city, on broadway, called red letter journals. i went inside and it blew me away, but then again, i get excited about things like that. there's room upstairs (four rooms, i think) to crop and they have events almost every day. i'm not sure i've ever been happier about a store. :) (cross posted to columbus | | Monday, May 17th, 2004 | 1:20 pm [mayna]

Crop tonight Just a reminder about the crop tonight. I hope people show up and this one doesn't turn out to be a bust like that last one! There's only so many I can plan for before I give up due to lack of anyone coming.
All the info is in the post from a few weeks ago (but since there's such few posts it's easy to find). | | Friday, May 14th, 2004 | 9:44 pm [mayna]

Crop on Monday Just a reminder about the crop on Monday. You can come as soon as you get off work (but not before 4 pm, unless you want to hang out with my hot single brother-in-law *wink wink*). The directions and all that are in the prior post.
Please let me know if you're coming, I heard before that 2 people were expecting to come. The first crop was somewhat of a bust, but I was a bit preoccupied by the Friends finale and my husband didn't get home until 7 so I wouldn't have gotten to do any scrapbooking anyway. | | Tuesday, May 4th, 2004 | 9:45 am [mayna]

Crop on Thurs! Just a reminder about the crop this Thurs. Details are in the previous post. Let me know if you're still coming! :-)
There's a couple changes though... first, I didn't realize that this Thurs starts my husband's ultimate frisbee season... so he won't be home until 7 pm. So I'll have to occupy my daughter (if anyone wants to bring her a friend to play with it'd be most appreciated. She's 16 mo and enjoys kids her age or older). There's also the Friends finale, so we (or I) may be having the TV on and scrapbooking at the same time. :-)
So I'm going to change the one for the 20th to be the 17th (Monday). Then I have my husband to watch her and I don't have to run after a little toddler. :-)
I'll be home by 4 PM on Thurs so whenever you want to drop by I'll be there. :-)
Sales... Joann's has all their paper on sale for 4 sheets for $1. That's a good deal considering regular price is 59c. Other than that their current sales suck.
Michaels has the big huge "The Slab III" on sale for $12.99. That works out for something like 15c/page. Michael's also has the same 4 for $1 sale on paper.
It also looks like Michaels has a good sale on albums ($10 off the $24.99 ones, which makes them cheaper than Walmart's albums). They also have a sale on decorative edge scissors (normally about $1.99 I think) for 2 for $1. | | Friday, April 30th, 2004 | 9:41 pm [ohcupcake]

Crops Yay for scrapbooking! :-) We have a big basement finished room (with a space heater, it's heated but heat rises so it stays chilly, but the space heater warms it up really nice and toasty if needed) and since my husband is a "gamer" it's got a big table with office chairs around it, and I have a 7 foot long craft table on the other side of the room. Great cropping room too :-)
I'd like to host 2 crops a month, I'm thinking one could be during the week and the other could be on a weekend. Or if a weekday only schedule works better for people then that, or if people are only available on weekends then only that. Really I'm fairly flexible. Right now I work until 3 and my husband gets home at either 4:30 or 5:30 depending on the day (to watch our daughter).
I'm also thinking of if we do a weekday crop we could have a bit of a potluck dinner to go with it, or on the weekend do a potluck lunch. Or heck just order some Chinese or fast food in.
What sort of schedule works better for you guys?
Also I live up on the NE side of Columbus (near Minerva Park, by Cleveland Ave and 161... not going to post my address publicly).
And if someone else wants to host crops too that's perfectly fine.
For all the people who are new to scrapbooking, welcome! You'll love it. It's very free-flowing, there's no judge telling you that your scrapbook is crap and worth an F or great and worth an A. You can put a lot of planning into each page or you can do whatever you feel like on a whim. That's what I like about it, it's very relaxing. I've got pages I hate and I've got pages I love.
If you don't have anything to start your scrapbook with, at the very least you should come with your album (I prefer the strap bound 12x12 albums, but some people prefer the "ez-load" which I detest). You can get albums fairly inexpensively either at Walmart, or Joann's (take the 40% off coupon from the newspaper's insert). Creative Memories albums seem to be similar except they come with more pages, but not necessarily worth the extra $15 you'd pay for one. (they have more color choices though)
Also get some paper. Joann's is having a 4 for $1 sale on their sheets of paper right now, which is a great deal. I also like to buy the "big block" of paper that you can find on sale at Michael's for like $13 that has something like 100 sheets of paper. I also buy the 8.5x11 stacks of card stock (something like $5 or less at Joann's ETC) But I am the type of person who doesn't plan my pages ahead of time so I like to have stuff on hand. To save money you can plan what pictures are going on each page, and figure out at the store what specific sheets of paper you want to use and just get those.
Then you'll want some of the photo mount stickers. A package of that is like $3 maybe (sold at Joann's ETC, Michael's, and all the scrapbooking stores). Don't buy any glue sticks or any other type of glue. Also don't buy any of the scrapbooking pens at those stores, they tend to smear.
That is what you'll want to bring at a minimum. Scissors and stuff can be shared.
You'll eventually figure out what things you like to use. You'll also eventually want page protectors if you are using the strap-bound album. I like the cloth cover on my album because I can take paint pens and decorate the cover (you can also have it sent out at Scrapbooks ETC in Westerville for the title or whatever to be put on, that's something like $20). | 12:13 am [jennybean08]

Hi, I saw your post in columbus and I'm interested in scrapbooking. I graduated from college this winter and I'm going to Europe in June so I'd like to make books for school and know how for when I get pictures from my trip.
I've never done it before and I don't have any materials so I don't even know where to start! Any advice would be great! Thanks! |
