The last few days have been insane, I worked. Continuously.
1. Saturday morning a new employee, Wesley, who had barely introduced himself overheard me speaking with another employee. I was explaining that my parents did not know about my lovely boyfriend, Jeff, for very good reasons: which also happen to be private reasons. Majority of people don't need to know about what sort of childhood I led and why my relationship with my parents is as is, while those who know understand that the respect I have for them is quite generous. He proceeded to intervene, as a father of a three year old, he lectured the silly 19 year old on why she shouldn't disrespect her parents and tell them the truth. Now, I call this being considerate: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others. That's what he failed to be. This would've been okay, but he continued to pursue this around my place of work, as I was working, for the rest of my shift (3 hours).
2. A sous chef, Tom, wanted a "grande caramel frappucino" yesterday. The kitchen is known for not paying for their elaborate coffee drinks. Everything we have is eco-friendly/locally produced/organic. Also known as 'expensive'. Well, I told him that I'd make it as soon as he paid for it; the owner Eric is a friend of mine and I respect him and his venture. Tom decided to bitch about how I, one of "the lowest people on the totem pole" had snarked at him. Not only that, but he took a paper cup (versus ceramic) and took beer off the premises: open alcohol in an automobile? Hm. Then he came back for more free beer. By this point, I'd had quite enough, and mentioned it all to Eric. He thanked me kindly, let me know he'd check out the video cameras, and the next day Mike (our head chef and Eric's business partner) thanked me again for chatting with Eric.
3. Today was a great day. No one snarked, only kitchen folk took paper cups (health regulation: no glass in the kitchen), everyone was nice and helpful, we all picked up slack, I got good barista and label-making work done. :)
However, I'm still exhausted from only getting to do work on my weekend, and homework is as of yet untouched. Hmm.. gah. Goodnight for now, looking forward to better moods once my body is more well rested.
