Hopefully some of you guys make it.
Is it acceptable or even better to put already hot water into the ibrik?
Do you prefer to stir the foam a couple times and bring it back up to boil or just stop it the first time it foams up?

Capresso 471, only $4.50!

I found a Capresso 471 at my local thrift store - $8.99, then 50% off. It will froth milk automatically. It's got a clock/timer, thermal carafe, 3-5 cup setting, and it's barely been used - the carafe is clean.

It's missing some parts to the milk nozzle, and a container to hold the milk - capresso.com has the parts for $18.00.

Capressos are one of the few makers on the market that get the coffee really hot - I registered 180 degrees on it's first pot.

Question about which coffee to use:
I'm in a bind. My drip maker blew up last week. I only have my espresso machine. I am currently out of espresso ground coffee, and have a bulk of drip grounds!
Now, being the cheapass I am since I'm trying to buy a house right now.....

can I use the drip grounds in my espresso machine, without TOO much of a taste difference? I am NOT one to be picky about taste (or anything else)....I can't tell the diff. between a long or a short shot. Weather the grounds are french, or espresso roast. etc etc.

Besides "duh, go try it..."

Just want some advice.

Thanks kids!

Cheap ass bulk coffee from Lucky's. Can't beat it at $5.99 a pound!

I mixed their dark roast (looks like a Vienna Roast, all the same bean, medium dark, a little sheen to it) with their morning blend, which I'm assuming is a generic French/Sumatra mix. I picked up a new non-thermal carafe Krups electronic coffee maker a few months ago, I set it up with the beans for tomorrow morning, and I'll know how it is in 10 hours or so.

Thermal carafes are meh to me now. I swore by one for years, but I'd rather make more smaller pots than make one pot and rely on the thermal carafe to keep it tepid. Glass carafes seem to heat up better in the short term than the thermals, too.

Coffee shop boycott

It was a Friday morning when I decided I will never ever go to Lux Coffee Bar in downtown Phoenix ever again. Fuck that place! My wife and I haven't been there in well over a year because of the terrible "I'm better than you" service we've been given there. This morning, on my way to my class, I was thinking, "Why not give them another shot?" So I make the trip through all of the construction going on in that area and parked, walked in. A girl comes walking to me and says, "Uh.....Can I help you?" Making me feel like what did I do. So I reply with a very normal tone, "I want to buy some coffee." She replies with, "Uh......We're not open yet. I don't even have any coffee brewed yet." So I said, "Whatever." And walked out. It was 630am on a Friday morning and the coffee shop wasn't open yet. What coffee shop isn't open at 6am or earlier?! Seriously, not only do they have shitty service, but they have shitty hours. Little do they know, I would run circles around them when it came to coffee. It sucks because their coffee is actually decent, but the atmosphere is terrible and snotty. I miss Alterra Coffee in Milwaukee, WI. Something like this would never happen. Shit, even Comet and Fuel has better service and both places are ran by artsy people. I get great service at those places. Fuck Lux Coffee Bar and excuse my rant and I appologize about my poor spelling and grammar. Also, my choice of words are because I'm angry and I work construction.

Blah blah, my name is Chris I love coffee that kind of stuff.

Now on to the actual reason for this post: Peet's Coffee & Tea Old State Java.

I've never had aged coffee. I've had aged tea, but that's way different I'm sure. Any of you have aged coffee before? How is it? Is it dark? I love dark coffee.

Also, what do most of you prefer? The darker the better for me. I love the complexity of the darkness. Hm, I wonder if that's how goths feel.

Anyways, let me know what you think of that aged coffee, I'm thinking of buying some.

Thanks!

Starbuck's Kenya blend. Nice, unassuming, with a nice bit of nuttiness to it. Nothing like a good Ethopia Harrar, however.

I've been drinking a lot of espresso lately, made in a mukka express cappucino/moka pot.
