The How to use Fire and Water page is live!

(Which, if you have this mod/MUN LJ friended, you probably already knew, as it is graphic heavy and probably spamming your f-list today... sorry 'bout that.)

Nadine informs me the pic size limit in F&W is 450x450, 250kb.

WRC does have an LJ with updates and announcements, but it doesn't get renewed often. I'll edit this post or let you guys know what it is next time I update.

Next anticipated project? a 'how to use Whispering Realms' page with screencaps. To me it's pretty rudimentary, but I guess getting into Fire and Water for the first time is a bit intimidating. A suggestion? Where you're offered a 'type' of chat? Don't take scrolling. I use basic, myself. ^_^

Rumor has it 0rigins is going to be on PS2 soon. Oh you lucky ppl who waited and refused to get a PSP.

This is likely as not because a number of things are waaaay behind schedule; nonetheless they WILL be gotten to (volunteers? happy helpers?).

ASAP for your viewing pleasure the following additions will be made

-NEW promo banners with the right URL (zounds! we haven't made any since we moved? yikes!!!)

-updated map page with Origins locations. (although since that game takes place in the town's past not all of these will be accessible right away due to those pesky cracks in the road made by the underground fire- or the powers that be, not too sure which D:)

-updated monster compendium (to include any original beasties made by you the players, plus all those pesky Resident Evil, Buffyverse and Potterdom things creeping in in the latest plot by our s/T Ms.Jess.)

-updated log library. No excuse. So woefully behind on this. I plead Real Life taking up too much of my pretendy fun time. still. It'll be got to (unless someone else wants to wade through those and make a NEW log library? *hopeful grin*) I expect to get to this when I get a chance to update the GJ mirror site, since the two would be well worked together.

Now for the good news... unless someone new joins tomorrow, Friends Add and Taken Characters pages are updated and live!! a number of new Cs have appeared over the last month or so, as well as a few old ones retired. So skip over and make a few new friends if you haven't already.

As you probably know, the Harry Potter crossover is winding down to a mighty! and epic! battle of silly proportions soon. Also open to most all Hillians is the RE/BtVS/XFiles plot. OoOoOOooOoOOO, conspiracy abounds!

We remind you that all players are potential s/Ts. Got an idea for a tale most or all can join? Feel free to post up in maternalheart09 said plans for crack fun or bonechilling terror, and surely someone will volunteer a c or 3 to join in. Don't be afraid if you've never done a plotline before; if it doesn't work out according to plan or you feel like dropping it eventually someone'll pick up the slack, or we can just fahgeddaboudit! if you prefer. It is all pretendy funtime games at the end of the day, after all, even in a grim little berg like Silent Hill.

Not much new news on the latest of the game installment, Silent Hill V, that anyone hasn't heard, I am sure, but I was delighted to hear that there will be NO SH game for Wii!

As a self styled couch potato gamer, I am delighted I won't have to bounce around like an idiot while playing V; if I wanted to dance, I'd go to a go-go (or play DDR).

Hope ye's decide to stick with us in 2008. Just because the big ol' apocalypse storyline ended, that doesn't mean we don't have many more plotbunnies tucked away to amuse and terrify you with.

Coming down the pipe in the next month or two is the conclusion of the Hogwarts crossover and a SH/Resident Evil/X-Files plot has been creeping in as well.

We encourage you to bring your friends to audition in any new Cs to fill out the roster, and to plotbunny up some cool plots as well.

Here's a reminder to check the friends add page every so often and freshen your friends lists as people come and go.

New folk up there this week include Dana, the rogue Slayer from the Angel series (a one off episode called "Damage", season 5) and Yoko Suzuki, a former Umbrella employee and handy gadget maker from Resident Evil Outbreak.

Hey, so you know, Anna ran an idea past me, which I figured I'd bring to the board.

Occasionally people feel an urge to do one offs. A villain who's more than an NPC but still not a full fledged character, or maybe a visiting someone from your fandom who somehow finds a daypass into Silent Hill.

Some C from a show you love this week but will get bored of by next. Someone popping in for the LOL.

Do they really need as rigorous an apping, she asked, or can we just be warned they're popping by and interact or ignore them as we choose?


I see...a lot of potential for abuse of this, but it also seems like an appealing idea so... IF we instate it, how shall we go about it?

I was thinking maybe one known LJ for all such one off entries? No going into other Cs comments for one offs, you have to come to them?

Do we like this, fellow CoF kids, or does it seem a bit unwise?

In other news, Linda has a plotline coming up the pipes a number of you have agreed to lend Cs into.

As Linda runs the bloodtellsrp which has its own set of often crack!tastic SH gods and parodies of same, that RP has been 'noticing' this one.

Again, no gods are allowed in or to interfere with anything in CoF, but if you'd like to read the other comm's musings or even respond to them, knock your bad little selves out.

So, I recently made a promotion for airing out in RP advertizing sites. I've been working on some new promo banners- all the old ones have the wrong address now- but it occurred to me some of you might want to join in on the fun! After all, I can't be the only one who likes to show off my mad skillz and slave over a hot photoshop all day.

I have a little folder of amusing bases and some fonts I thought looked good I can pass on, or you can all get crackin' on making your own. Feel free to post em here or in the OOC comm. Collect em all! Add em to your homepages and signatures at BBs!

For those of us who use the Fire and Water chatroom at Whispering Realms- I was just chatting with Lisa- not Trevor, pahcotai Lisa, who runs the site.

It isn't you- scrolling HAS been wonky. There's a sitewide announcement on the chat now, but I got the first scoop. Says she to me:

you might notice your character's friends pages flooded with posts in maternalheart09 and this community... they're all reposts from the old communities, and they've all been back-dated to when they were originally posted, but for some reason, because they were technically all posted tonight at some point, they all show up at once. which is stupid, in my opinion...

which is why kether is keeping the logs on greatestjournal and we're not reposting them in the new forestcradle. and at least all the posts we've moved into our new communities are in the right order, for the most part.

I know its sad but this is a Silent Hill RP, so all Silent Hill canon Cs need to be active and playing with everyone, not just a select few.

As to modship, me and Tanya and Kether have done a lot making lists compiling maps and moving files after strikethrough. a moderator needs to do things not just be there in name only.

Sorry Tiff & nick. you can apply for non canon Cs if you want them. Movie Alessa is fine to still keep because no one really doing anything with the movie concepts.

I would like to see Carol or Mal or Anna step up to the plate. How ever if any one else has suggestions step up to the plate.

There is a hella swell mirror to the compendium if onlinerock is having a bad day.

Our friends(?) at the RP group polychromatic have issued the following rumor/warning re: fancentric communities and personal LJs. As Ms.Ruxi said, it would be a hella stupid move on LJ's part to do so, sending all us geeks gypsying away to other blogsites taking our paid-account dollars with, but should it happen, I agree with some of the advice she has- f-lock any particularly bawdy posts, and credit pics where credit is due.

Myself and Ms.Tanya will be stashing backups of the comm posts on our respective harddrives and you are encouraged to do the same with your personal posts.

Better safe than sorry.

IF something catastrophic goes down Blywyn had suggested we move the whole kit & kaboodle to deadjournal- as he's in China at the mo and thus unable to post here (you heard? Well, not play Father Vincent, but play whatever characters you've signed up for.

Those of you who've been in an LJ comm, you can skip this part, because there won't be a quiz after, and it's bo~oring. But...

for those of you who came here from chatroom RP only, or who have never used an RPG comm before at all...gather round. Let me give you the lowdown.

It's quite simple, really. Almost all the links you need are (or will be) on the profile page.

In applications you give us the name of the LJ you will be using for your character posts, and I will add it to the 'friends add' list.

Then you post in maternal_heart and hello everyone.

YOU go to the 'friends add' page and add all or as many of the other LJs as you choose to your friends list.

You post as often as you like on your character LJ in the persona of that character and (hopefully) people will reply to your entry.

You reply to their comments.

And the conversation begins.

We have a chatroom if anyone wants it; you join Whispering Realms to get there and look for the Fire & Water room.

It's only suggested because it has unlimited textbox space unlike an AIMbox, and a nice easy on the eyes black background with beautiful graphics by our friend sistersinister but you needn't use it if all that's too much effort.

But find some way to get in touch with the other players, because logs are the meat & potatoes of any RPG comm.

Our logs happen at forest_cradle. You can either begin a thread and keep the action going by commenting to each other (although beware LJs collapsing repliiiies!) or you can log in AIM, in F&W, anywhere you want, and C&P your adventures into one log post.

This way people can read the adventures you've had, and maybe, if you want them to, join in your storyline.

Mingling is encouraged, clicquishness is NOT. Just so you remember.

Silent Hill the town is your playground, but anyone familar with the Konami game series probably knows Silent Hill is a conduit to a strange nightmarelike realm called known as the Otherworld... feel free to meet, greet, and eat or be eaten by monstrous baddies at your own whim.

We only ask that no one play or invent any of the SH gods as NPCs, because once we're past the polishing stages (this comm is NEW!) we may find some time to provide a few surprise NPCs and situations for your characters to interact with (or ignore; no storyline will ever be obligatory) and we're saving them for that.

Well. I hope that pretty much tells you why we are all here.

Please make yourselves at home, and feel free to prod me or any of the regular SH natives... be careful though. Not everything in the Hill is always what it seems!

Old Silent Hill and Central Silent Hill
The oldest section of Silent Hill suffers from fire damage. Its connected to the more urban section, Central Silent Hill, via a bring over the river cutting the two off. The lakeside resort is just southwest of Old Silent Hill.

Finney Street: This street is named after the author, Jack Finney. You can find Convenience Store 8, Crabs seafood shop, Metropol Movie Theatre, a Pharmacy, El Encanto hotel, Fish n' Fries, LiquorFood store, and Virginia's Bodas: Servicio Completo de Bodas' (complete wedding services)

Matheson Street: This street is named after the author, Richard Matheson. You can find Ghoul Bar, two shops, Horned Moon Dance, a cafe, Julio's Auto Parts, and Ichiron's Drugs.

Bloch Street: This street is named after the author, Robert Bloch. You can find Roger's Pastry Shop (which sells fruit and Italian Ices), Cut-Rite Chainsaws, Shoe Repair and Hat renovators - Luggage Repair, Souvenirs, Lighting Co., Balkan Church, and a Shell Gas Station.

Bradbury Street: This street is named after the author Ray Bradbury. You can find Mark Twain Books and Gifts, a market, Top Sales discount store, Silver Goods, and Sundries shop.

Midwich street: This street is named after the book "The Midwich Cuckoos" by John Wyndham. Silent Hill's elementary students attend Midwich Elementary School, a three story building down the street.

Levin Street: This street is named after author Ira Levin. This is a residential street .

Bachman Street: This street is named after author Richard Bachman, one of Stephen King's pen names. You can find Cafe 5 to 2, a Queen Burger, Blue Belle, Boston Market, Bett's Big Service & Grill (its a resturant with a gas station right outside a campground area), the campgrounds, Elks Bingo, Motel 40 Rest Stop, It'll Do Club Dancing, and Haerbey Inn.

Ellroy Street: This street is named after author James Ellroy.

Craig Street: Annie's Bar (BuzzFizz and Miner beer available, along with pool tables), Indian Runner (Indian Crafts and Leather Goods), Norman's Motel

Weaver Street: AEC Burger, South Park (has a beautiful water fountain and boat rides), docks.

Sagan Street: Bonto, Buffalo Chief, Casts, Market A, No. 1 Foto, Nolterni, Theater 3, The Car, Wind, Contempo Casuals, Discount Variety, FANS (casual clothing), Galaxy (electronics), ESPACE Loggia,

Lakeside: Resort Area

This section below Old Silent Hill, right outside the Sandford St. in the forested area along side the lake.

Lake View Hotel: Three story hotel. It burned down several years ago, leaving only its charred remains still standing. Has a west and east garage.

Lighthouse: Reachable only by a long walkway in front of the Lake View Hotel, a lighthouse sits shines its bright beacon over the lake.

Toluca Lake: The lake is Silent Hill's main tourist attraction. It is well know for its hauntings. Two lie under the water itself. The first happened in the 1880's when a plague struck the town. Seventy-three of its victims remains lie beneath the lakes surface. The second happened in 1918, the Little Baroness, a ship filled with tourists, sunk to the bottom of the lake. Its case was never solved.

Toluca Island: This is a small island reachable only by boat. A lone church resides there over looking the water. It is said that dark rituals were performed there.

Lakeside Amusement Park: A large amusement park located on West Stanford Street, right off of Toluca Lake. Its mascots are Robbie Rabbit, Kathy Kitty, Dawn Duck and Huey Horse. Its rides include: Mountain Coaster (a roller coaster), Borley Haunted Mansion (a haunted house), Swing Rocket (spinning rocket ride), Star Travel, Tea Cup (a spinning teacup ride), Machen Travel (a funhouse where you ride through fairytales), Sky Flower, and Happy Carousel (a 13 horse carousel). Its shops are: Bar & Grill Lakeside, Dina's Tea Party, Candy Pot, Sweet Factory, Imports Toyshop, and Magic Icecream House. Also it has a stage where special shows were held and a Fortune House where you can get your fortune read.

Church of the Order: Reachable by the Houses elevator and an entrance in the Amusement park.

West Sandford Street: Thing and Stuff, Bowling



South Silent Hill
From Old Silent Hill, one can reach the section across the lake by taking Sandford St. around the lake and then getting on Nathan Ave. The area around Lindsey Street once was a swamp. "The ___ers of land surrounding this monument was originally swamp, but was later filled in. Fr____ing ago, t__________s nicknamed Blood Swamp because the _____ers poured the water used to wash the ex________ols in here. Perhaps it's fo____ that many pe______m to have s__ __________n the area."


If you enter from the Observation Deck:
Observation Deck: Overlooks the lake. it has a unisex restroom and parking lot.

Tunnel: If your entering the Town from the Observation Deck (73 County Rd) you pass through a Tunnel under the area's many hills. You will also see a red sign stating: Paleville National Park 10 Miles, and a green sign stating: Paleville 1.0 Miles, Old Silent Hill 5.0 Miles, and Brahms 26.5 Miles.

Well: Heading down the steps of the Observation Deck, you walk down a winding trail leading towards the lake's beach. Before you reach the cemetery, you come upon a brick gazebo and well.

Toluca Lake Cemetery: Following the trail away from the Well, you reach the cemetery. It is surrounded by a stone wall with an iron fence and gate. It lines the edge a sculpted section of the lake.

Toluca Lake Cemetery Chapel: A small stone chapel sits on the back of the cemetery grounds.

Silent Hill Ranch: Following the path exiting the cemetery, you pass the town's ranch. Not only does it have its own barn and silo, but even a greenhouse.

Bus Stop: As you exit the path by the Ranch, you come upon the bus stop that sits underneath 73 County rd and beside the creek. It takes off on Wiltse Rd.

The Roadrunner: just off the road where the bus takes off, is "The Roadrunner", farm that pays homage to the horse drawn carriage.
